The next few days at school were pretty much the same. I picked Kris up, we went to school, David came home with me, he left before my parents got home…yeah pretty boring. Finally it was the weekend. Yay right? Well it would be "yay" if I weren't fighting with David again. I swear lately all we've been doing is fighting with that boy. I love him to death but I can only take so much you know? I had just hung up on him for the second time for this argument. I got up to stretch and my phone vibrated again telling me that my phone was ringing again. I sighed. I was torn between picking it up and just ignoring it completely. I chose to ignore it and picked up my purse and keys. I left my mom a note and made my way to the door. When I opened it, Kris was standing there with her hand up like she was reaching for the doorknob.
"Oh hey." I said. I little surprised that she was here. Yet then again I wasn't because she was here all the time.
"What's up? Going for a drive?" She asked eyeing the keys in my hand.
"Yeah…" I said.
"Want me to come with you or do you want to be left alone?"
"You can come. I just need to get away from the house for a bit."
"Okay"
We got into my car and drove away. We were silent for a little bit. I knew what Kris was doing. She was just there so I could have an ear to vent to. I loved Kris for the stuff that she did for me. She really was my best friend. I was just happy that she was willing to put up with my drama and be there to help me out when I needed it. Especially considering her distaste for men. We drove in silence for a little bit until I broke it.
"We're in another fight." I said.
"I kinda figured." she said and shrugged.
"I just don't know what to do with him. I love him yes but I don't know if I can really take this anymore. Especially when he's going to be leaving this summer to go for training." It felt good for me to talk to her. But, I know she had to be getting tired off all the drama that happens almost every day. Hell, I was getting tired of the drama that happens everyday.
"I don't really know what to tell you. If you love him then stay with him but if you two keep getting in fights then it kinda makes me doubt that you two should be together." All of her points were good and valid and we've gone over this a few times already.
"Yeah I know." was all I said. We stayed silent for a little bit longer until my stomach broke the silence.
"Someone's hungry" she smiled at me.
"I guess I was just so far gone in my argument with David I forgot to eat." I said a little sheepishly.
"Dewey's?" Her amber eyes went big when she said it and stared at me pleadingly. I just laughed.
"You know for someone who has that dark rocker look down to an art you sure are childish." I smirked. Kris just stuck her tongue out at me. I looked over her outfit again. She was wearing a Linkin Park band shirt and a black skirt to match. Of course the rings on her hands fit in perfectly along with the multiple earings that she wore and her short black hair with green tips. I on the other hand wore plain jeans and a red shirt with abstract designs on it. Sometimes I wondered how her and I fit so well together.
"What's with the skirt?" I asked, realizing that she didn't normally wear skirts.
"Easy access." She gave me a look that made me feel my cheeks heat a little.
"Wow, no comment." I said keeping my eyes on the road while I made a turn to get on river road to go towards Kenner. Kris laughed.
"You like it." Kris stated with a sly grin.
"Sure." I said while giving her a weird look.
"Okay okay if you must know laundry hasn't been done in a while so this was the only thing that I had clean."
"Hope your underwear are clean." I teased.
"Why got somethin' planned?" She wiggled her eyebrows at me.
"Not particularly no."
"Ooo wingin' it, eh? I like that too."
"You really need to get a girlfriend bad you little nymph."
"Am not!" she retorted.
"Yes you are!"
"Am not. And what about you?" I looked over at her. She was giving me a coy look.
"What about me?" I asked as I brought the car into the parking lot of Dewey's. She brought up her hand as soon as I parked my car and I knew exactly where she was going with that.
"Oh no you don't." I exclaimed quickly grabbing her hand to stop her. Kris just smiled.
"I know your weakness." she sang drawing her hand back. When I was sure she wasn't going to reach for me again I let it go.
"Yes I know you know and I would appreciate it if you left it alone. Remember what happened last time?" I said. I could feel my cheeks color a little at the memory.
"Yes I do." she said triumphantly.
"Mean ass." I said as I opened my door to get out.
"You love it." Kris replied getting out on her side.
We made our way inside and walked to the back of the old convenient store to the counter. We placed our orders and we took a seat as we waited for our food to be ready. We had only been sitting for about five minutes when my phone vibrated, signaling that I had a text. I sighed, already knowing who it was from. I took my phone out of my pocket and read the message.
"Where are you?" David text me.
"I'm with Kris." I text back. Kris snatched my phone out of my hands as I sent the message.
"Hey!"
"You're supposed to be keeping your mind off of him. Not have a lover's spat while with a friend." She said as she turned my phone on silent and stuffed in down her shirt into her bra. "Now if you want it ya gotta get it."
"Fine I will…later."
Kris just stuck her tongue out at me playfully. I rolled my eyes. A few minutes later they called us up to grab our food. We brought it to the front to pay and then got back in my car and headed to Kris's house.
