Please readers! I can't stress how much I want to hear what you think! I am begging you to review. I work hard and all I ask is for a little constructive criticism. Thanks, Sasa13

Before putting on his shirt, Travis Gillian looked at his reflection in the inn room mirror. He hardly looked like a man of twenty six. His gaze moved to the scar on his shoulder. Fingering it, he could still recall the day he acquired that, a broken heart and an eagle's feather. It had been almost seven years since Travis had been shot. The bullet had gone right through his shoulder, but the way his mind had remained after the incident would forever be scarred.

He had ventured to Brownsville to propose to Hailey Jo Kennedy. They saw each other every third Sunday when her family traveled to San Antonio for food and supplies. Never had he the courage to endeavor in a real conversation with the girl, but he knew she was the only woman for him. When he first arrived to Texas to become a Ranger, never did he expect to fall in love again. His first fiancée, Janice Wheeler, had run off with his older brother two days before the planned wedding date. Heartbrokenly, he had packed his bag, left Richmond, Virginia, and headed to the new state of Texas. The first day he arrived in San Antonio was the most memorable Sunday he had ever experienced. On his way to the Ranger's Station, Travis first laid eyes on a girl in a fluffy yellow dress and hair so blond it was almost white. She had an angel's face and her smile was captivating. He was hooked then and there. She gracefully turned and saw him through the mercantile window. His blue eyes took her in with no detail overlooked. Hailey looked away and blushed. He was a handsome man when he was clean. His azurite eyes looked like the ocean and his rust-tinted brown hair was a little longer than fashionable, but on this nineteen year old model of masculine perfection, no man could compare. He just stood there looking at her. For a girl of sixteen, she was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. Her tight blond curls gave her the beauty of a porcelain angel.

Months past and he became an official Texas Ranger, Hailey turned seventeen, and the Comanche nation was growing restless. These three ingredients were the perfect recipe for heartbreak. He worked mostly as an in-city ranger, but Frank, the out of town man, had retired and Travis had been promoted to his job. A year past and he was very good at being a ranger. By this time Hailey had turned eighteen and he felt it was time he popped the question. Early one August morning, he was putting on his boots and Marty, his boss, gave him an assignment.

"I want you to check the frontier out around Brownsville. I have been getting reports that the Comanche's are raiding the settlements up there. Some say it's a rumor, but I'd rather be safe than sorry."

The time had come and Travis knew it. It was fate. He now had a reason to venture to Brownsville and ask Hailey to marry him. He smiled his teenage goony smile. Before he lost any time he mounted his horse.

Marty knew exactly what this boy was planning. "Oh and tell that blonde girl you're always drooling over that the wedding better be soon. I can't afford ya'll being gone too long on the honeymoon."

He smiled the goon-smile for the last time that day. Since then he vowed, one day he would have his revenge on the Comanche.
