A little something that came to me. Everything's relative. Hope it'll give you writers with the block something to smile about.

Inspiration's a bitch.

"So you're a writer."

"Yeah, yeah. Just in my spare time mind, nothing too fancy. Yeah, it's a good piece of fun, exercise for the mind, stretching the imagination."

"What sort of stuff do you write?"

"Oooh, a bit of this, a bit of that. I've got a whole range from, romance and period to sci-fi and horror. I've even tried my hand at a bit of the murder mystery lark. Didn't turn out too well that. And I've cracked out a couple of decent poems in my time too."

"What inspires you?"

"Oh, pretty much anything. I watch TV a lot, so I guess that has a strong factor in that. Sometimes my dreams throw up strange little gems, and then you just have to play around with it in here." He tapped his head. "You get better at that the more you write."

"What do you do when you get writers block?"

"Well, to be honest, I just take a short break, come back to the story in a day or so and it's gone. But when it comes to it, writers block isn't such a bad thing as it seems."

"Oh, really?"

"No, it stops us writers from overworking ourselves, frying up all our brain cells. No, the real bugger is that inspiration!"

"Really?"

"Yeah, it hits you like a sledgehammer at the queerest and often most inconvenient and inappropriate moments, with ideas so awesome, it turns you into an obsessed maniac scrabbling for a pen and a piece of paper to write it down on. And then you're stuck for however long in front of a computer screen, writing the damn thing up, and then, spending nearly as much time again editing it. After all that, writers block is a welcome break!"
