That Which Can t Be Claimed

Desire fluttered across my eye,
To have that which was not mine.
That was the first mistake I made,
Taking that which can t be claimed.

Not like a toy, a spoon, a cloth,
To be used and then thrown in the dirt.
Ignored and abused it will not stay,
Hidden for a rainy day.

Time and respect are both essential,
Laughter and chatter must well be known.
But most importantly never forget,
It is not yours to keep, then reject.

The decision is mutual and therefore be warned,
Don t take for granted what is not yours.
Treasure each and every day,
For you never know when your love will stray.
