A/N: This is part one of two. I'll post the second part as chapter 2. I wrote them as companions. These poems were mostly inspired by "I'd Live With You" and "Two Steps Forward, One Step Back" by Zoë's Adventures Under Ground, specifically the lines "you're not just another fading scar" and "you changed my life, but at the end of the day, part of me knew that you'd never stay." I am nearly completely over a six-month crush, which has spawned a bunch of hopeful poetry. Not that you care…
….
I thought you would be the one
That you'd crush me if you left
Well I have moved on from you
And I am still living yet
..
I've found someone real
Who might take me in return
Someone who makes me laugh
All you ever did was burn
..
You were bold and dramatic
But you never were quite real
And I love you like a brother
But he's the one who makes me feel
..
You were dead behind your mask
I saw the real you today
Vice hidden under beauty
A real-life Dorian Gray
..
You are just a pretty fake
And I've seen through the disguise
Your fire's burning low
And all you speak are lies
…..
oh, and the 3rd line of stanza 3 is sort of stolen from "Colorblind" by the Dresden Dolls, but it's a common sentiment so I don't feel guilty. :/
