A/N: When you're reading the part(s) describing the fun, colourful world- in this chapter and maybe later on- I suggest listening to Breeze by Genki Rockets

Also, if there are any mistakes, I apologize in advance for it is, like, 3 in the morning.

There was a forest with giant trees, but these trees weren't like regular ones- they were purple! Lucy looked up and also saw this lime green sky! Where am I? She thought. It was a very beautiful place. There was grass- or at least that's what she thought it was, considering it was pink- that came up to her knees right next to a sparkling, shining lake! Lucy couldn't even see an end to the lake from where she was standing, it seemed to go on forever!

As she looked around, she saw what looked like fish swimming near the shore in the lake. They were so bright, and energetic! She couldn't believe what she was seeing. This can't be real, she thought. This place was even better than what she day dreamed about during school! And if she ever returned to school then this would provide her with an ample amount for at least math. Argh, this made her remember math and that stupid test she had tomorrow. Ah, she thought, I haven't the faintest clue what all that is about and-

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

I shot up out of my bed as my alarm clock rang extremely loudly, and slammed my hand on it desperately reaching for the "Off" button. I put my hand on my chest, feeling the intense beating of my heart.

I had that same dream again. It was always the same, yet always slightly different. This time, I dreamt of a lake. Last time, I was in this really dark forest with rainbow coloured trees. I don't know what this place is that I'm dreaming about is, but I like it.

"Oh, I see you're up," a head the size of my 15 year old brother's, Blake, popped into my room from the doorway.

"Yes, I'm up," I sneered at that annoying little prick.

"Don't you like what I did to your alarm clock?" he asked innocently. So that was it. It was that little monster.

"That's not an alarm clock, that's a heart attack waiting to happen!" I shouted. I can't believe he would do- ah, never mind. Actually, I can believe it. He's always in my stuff!

I looked at the time. It was 7:00 in the morning, and at the rate I'm going, I'm going to be late for school. Again. Ah, calm down. Breath in, breathe out, breathe in, breathe out. Calmness is key.

"Gah!" I exclaimed. "And you changed the time on it, too! I'm gonna kill you!" I ran to the doorway, but he held the door from the outside. "You little twerp! Now I'm really gonna kill you! I'll wrap my hands around your scrawny little neck, and watch in ecstasy as you slowly lose life…" I said, relishing the very thought…so maybe calmness isn't key right now…

"You can't, you'll be late for school, and you know what Mom said!"

Gah. He had a point. I had gotten the lecture once again from Mother, saying that I must hold the record for being late for school. Well, I believe that whoever thought that high school should start at 7:45 in the morning, was a complete idiot. Really, the school administrators should take into consideration the insomniacs of the world, like me, who can't get to sleep until 2 in the morning and then have to wake up at 6:30. Then on Fridays- well, technically Saturdays- crash at 4 in the morning and not wake up until 6 at night. I have it the worst- I have chronic insomnia and have a body clock totally opposite from the time zone I'm in. Of course, my mother just chalks it up with everything else that's wrong with me.

It seems like I'm the only one of her kids that she doesn't like, and she has 3 others. I'm second in command. There's my older sister, Eloise, me (Lucy), my younger brother Blake, and my younger sister Alessandra. Eloise is 18 and in her first year of college while I'm just a lowly 16 year old sophomore, and Blake is 15 and a ninth grader whilst Alessandra is 12 and a seventh grader. Unfortunately, I am the only one who escaped the path of "normalcy". Actually, I think that's just what my mother hates about me, other than that, she's pretty cool. Although she vehemently opposes the colours I dye my hair and the piercings- I can't even get anything other than ears done because she "doesn't approve".

Ugh. My mother's constantly exclaiming things like, "Why can't you be more normal?" Frankly, I don't believe in the word "normal". Everyone must have something different in them; some just don't call upon it. I like to make mine stand out. Sure I get weird looks from most people at school, but I don't really care what they think. I have 2 wicked friends, and that's all that really matters.

My two best friends are twins- fraternal, that is. Their names are- get this- Apollo and Artemis. I think that is the coolest thing ever! The one thing that surprises me the most, though, is how they get along so well. I can't imagine getting along with my siblings that well. They've been my best friends since kindergarten. I still remember the day that I met them, well actually spoke to them. It was our second week into kindergarten and I remember that they wouldn't talk to anyone else than themselves. The only thing I knew about them was their names. Everyone except for them was playing Duck, Duck, Goose in the yard and they were just standing next to the school.

"Why don't we ask them to play?" I asked.

"They're weird! Nobody talks to them! And if you talk to them then you'll be a freak, too!" A boy named Josh yelled at me.

"Well, why are they weird?" I asked. It just didn't make any sense to me; I mean they didn't do anything!

"They only talk to themselves, and never come around anyone!" Josh yelled back.

"And my big brother said that they are "incest" or something!" another boy named Steven chimed in.

Well that didn't make any sense, either. They were marked "weird" because they didn't talk to anyone. If that was the case, then wouldn't isolating them make them even "weirder"? I thought that was really unfair.

"Well, I don't care! I'm gonna go talk to them!" I decided, then marched right over to Apollo and Artemis.

"Hello. I am Lucille Anastasia DeVincentis and I am your new friend." I spoke so formally and forward. I gave no bull.

"Um…hi…?" Artemis was the first one to speak up. She seemed really nervous; she kept playing with her long black hair that was in a braid. "I'm, uh, Artemis," she mumbled. I thought that she looked like a really nice girl behind those trembling hands, and downcast green eyes.

"You know, if you're going to be hanging out with me, then you really need to work on your people skills." I explained to them. "Don't worry, I'll help you. You guys can come to my house sometime and we'll work on them. Especially you." I added eyeing Apollo. He still had refused to say a word, and I was determined to get him to talk.

"Uhhhh, why are you looking at my brother like that?" Artemis asked. She was starting to warm up to me, I could tell.

"Because I want to hear him talk." I said in a very straight forward manner. I was very curious about him. Even though they're fraternal and don't look identical, they still had identical black hair and green eyes; those same green eyes that were downcast, and probably held many secrets. I continued, "He doesn't seem to like to talk much. Does he talk at home?" I asked.

I didn't get a reply, though, for Apollo had exclaimed, "Hey! Don't talk about me like I'm not standing right in front of you!"

"Great! My plan worked!" I said with joy. It took a moment before realization hit his face and then he shouted, "Hey! That wasn't fair, you tricked me!"

I giggled, "Well, it's your fault for being tricked!"

"Wait a sec-"

Our arguing was interrupted by giggling. "Hehehehehe! I like you! You're funny!" Artemis exclaimed. "Apollo," she commanded, "admit that her plan was funny!"

"What?! No way! That so wasn't fun- ARGH!" Artemis had punched him in the stomach. "Er, yeah, yeah. Maybe it was kinda, a little bit, a teeny, tiny bit funny." Apollo muttered.

Artemis and I giggled at that statement, and soon burst out laughing extremely hard. Apollo just stared at us for a while, then eventually laughed heartily along with us.

I knew from that moment on that those two and I would be very good friends, hopefully for life.

I hurriedly looked though my closet for something kind of coherent then sprinted down the set of stairs leading to the second floor of our house, to the bathroom down the hall and banged on the door loudly. "Oi! Hurry up whoever's in there! I need to get ready!"

"Will you just wait a minute?!" screamed Alessandra. "Unlike you I actually care about what I look like!" Really. That girl is so annoying. She makes it sound like I have no sense of personal hygiene. I think I look good whenever I see myself, and that's all that really matters.

I stared at my reflection in the hall mirror. Ugh. Right now, I do not look good. My electric blue and hot pink wavy hair with fringe that came right above my dark brown eyebrows and curled slightly was sticking up everywhere, and my face was starting to form blemishes. I saw my dark brown eyes roam over my olive coloured skin in search for those little monster blemishes then individually stop on the, altogether, 10 holes in my ears all with neon coloured studs in them.

I checked the clock on the wall. 7:07. Great. Alessandra is taking forever! Is it really so hard to shower, brush your teeth, and get dressed? Right, Lucy, calm, I thought to myself. I am someone who promotes peace- even with my siblings, which is the hardest of all.

It seemed like forever- but was really only 4 minutes- until she finally came out and I rushed past her into the bathroom Alessandra, Blake, and I shared, quickly turned the water on in the shower, basically ripped my pajamas off, and jumped into the shower, which resulted in…

"AHHHHHHHH!" This water was freezing! "You idiot!" I continued, "You used up all of the hot water!" That other little twerp. I swear, do I have the worst siblings, or what? They make it so much harder for me to keep an optimist's point of view.

As I shivered from the cold water, I hurriedly washed myself and my hair. I grabbed a big neon green bath towel- one of my own purchases- and quickly dried myself off then got dressed in my Animal T-shirt which has Animal from the Muppets on it with a red background and my light blue denim shorts with white paint splatters on them paired with my red tights.

After using my daily face cleansing treatment and brushing my teeth- hopefully thorough enough- I looked at my very colourful make up section and decided to only wear black eyeliner today. I wear my so that it curls up on the sides of my eyes. I've gotten so used to doing it, it only takes me less than a minute to do both eyes, which comes in handy on mornings like these. I looked into the mirror trying to remember if I had forgotten anything. Let's see, I thought, I showered, washed my hair, brushed my teeth, washed my face, got my clothes, and put on my eyeliner…yep I think I've gotten it all.

I ran out of the bathroom and checked the clock in the hall as I was running through the second floor to get to the staircase. 7:23. Huh, I may have just set a new personal record.

"Ahh! Not again!" I shouted.

As I was running down the stairs, I just had to trip. As I was tumbling down the last 7 steps I was thinking to myself, Oh, of course, I just had to fall today.

"Lucy! Are you alright?! Why on earth were you sprinting down the stairs?!" my mother worriedly called out.

"Er, yeah, just fine, I just, um, am running a little behind today and needed to make up time on the stairs," I hastily explained my rushing to get out as I stood and brushed myself off.

"Don't worry Mom," Eloise come into the room smiling, "this is nothing to Lucy." Wait, Eloise? She's not supposed to be here.

"Um, aren't you supposed to be at college?" I asked Eloise.

"It's Spring Break, my dear sister. I decided to come home for a few days." My sister feigned hurt, "Don't you read any of the emails I send you? I can't believe that my own sister doesn't care about me, when I'm now on the opposite coast most of the year!" Eloise was going to UNLV for something in hospitality. She hasn't decided what yet. It's on the west coast as opposed to our east coast home in Massachusetts.

"Oh don't give me that act," I said exasperatedly, "I'm just surprised to see you." I went up and hugged her, "Actually I kind of miss having my big sis around."

"Ah, that sounds better," Eloise sighed contentedly.

"…But, I do enjoy the fact that I have my own room now, with you gone!" I shouted happily. Then I saw the kitchen clock. "Aw man, I'm gonna be late for school! Sorry El, I gotta go," I apologized while putting on my black low tops with bright purple laces and Harry Potter hoodie, grabbing my bag in the shape of a penguin, an Aquafina water bottle, a piece of toast that was sitting on a plate on the kitchen table, and running out the door.

"Not again!" I heard my mother shout from inside the house as I was running.

As I was sprinting the 4 blocks to school I managed to take a couple bites of toast when I was waiting for an opening in the traffic of people driving to school or work. I was also able to take a few sips of water and then shove said water bottle into my bag. I was disappointed to see, though, that the piece of toast I had stolen had butter on it. I detest butter on toast. I think it just tastes horrible!

I checked my Swatch that I had gotten for my birthday last year and saw that it was 7:36, and made a noise similar to Lucy Ricardo's famous one. I still had a block to go and needed to go to my locker when I got to school.

At last, I arrived at Kennedy High School. I ran to the side door in the courtyard, yanked it open, and started sprinting up the stairs to my locker on the second floor. As I was approaching my locker, I saw two people with black- and purple- hair and their back turned towards me standing by it.

I smiled and tapped them on the shoulders and asked, "Well, am I really that important that I have people waiting for me to come to my locker?"

Apollo and Artemis turned around, grinned, and Artemis joyfully exclaimed, "Lucy! You're finally here! We thought we were going to have to wait forever here!"

Apollo was eyeing the half eaten piece of toast in my hand, though.

"Are you gonna finish that?" he inquired.

I sighed, "All you ever think about is food, Apollo. And no, I'm not. It has butter on it. You can have it." A light appeared in Apollo's bright green eyes as he acquired a new piece of food, then quickly devoured it.

"Come on Lucy, we can't be late for homeroom again. The Man will give us detention," Artemis informed me while playing with her long, black highlighted with purple hair.

"Of course, knowing Artemis, she already got one. And it's not even first period." Apollo pointed out.

I hit him on the shoulder and chastised, "Apollo! You shouldn't talk about your sister like she's some juvenile delinquent."

He didn't even notice that I hit him and answered back, "Well it's not like I talk about her like you talk about your siblings!" I was offended. I only talk about them like that sometimes. I really try to see the best in them, but it doesn't exactly come out every time I see them.

"Hey, I- never mind," I started, "I need to get to my locker and not be late to class. Is that too much to ask for?"

"Actually yes, yes it is," Apollo commented while tucking some of his longish black hair behind his ear and standing in front of my locker.

"Argh, that's it!" I said exasperatedly. I then shoved Apollo out of my way, knocking him to the ground, put my bag into my locker, and got my books out.

"Thanks for moving," I said sweetly to Apollo while he shot me a dirty look, stood, and brushed himself off. Artemis then laughed as we started walking to Honors English.

"Hey! Wait for me!" Shouted Apollo, for he never liked to be left behind, and ran up to walk with us down the hallway.

Ah, yes, with Apollo and Artemis, I am at peace.
