(a/n: All of the poems in this little snippet are inspired by Claire De Lune by Debussy, my favorite piece of all time. It obviously helps to listen to Claire De Lune WHILE reading these poems, and I highly recommend it. Any STRUCTURED critique would be wonderful. Thank you.)

An Angel's Lullaby

The golden strings of the harp,

The ivory cries of the piano,

Sleep, my darling,

To an angel's lullaby.

Her nameless face,

Her Pegasus wings,

A twirling ball gown sewn with star dust,

Lavenders in her hair.

She wears a silver crown,

Embedded with memories,

Long forgotten flights,

Long abandoned dreams.

A morning breaks the silence,

The waltz another history,

Her wings carry her away,

And he waits.

He has a name,

Simple, humble, meaningless.

She is the goddess, he the man,

Love in time's embrace.

She does not cry,

He hardly remembers.

A flash of stars, sunlight,

The gentle caress of the ocean.

A man left without sympathy,

Only music in his memory,

Sleep, my darling,

To an angel's lullaby.
