Amarantos

often dost thou fear the cold winter's night

fine hair turned dull silver from fair gold

cataract-ridden eyes depriv'd of sight

and the age with Death's chill embrace foretold

when all which binds thee to this realm is gone

and thy world fades to sad unchanging gray

shadow'd dusk replaces thy former dawn

and thou lives only in heaven's hearsay

but thy fears of death to rest I hath laid

for thou hath plann'd to become eternal

when in the fool squabbles of man we fade

and every one yield to death infernal

for while all submit to the hand time

thou shall live on forever in this rhyme
