Nothing ever really changes

The moon still shines outside

Every night the news comes on

And there's another suicide

I close my eyes and see them

Kids too young to die

Laughing, smiling with the rest

Then going home to cry

No one thinks it'd happen

They think we'll be just fine

They don't see their mistake

Until we've crossed the line

I let the screen go black again

Just as I always do

Thinking of the life I live

And how I'll make it through

I remember many years ago

The innocence of youth

And I think of al the scars since then

It's the price you get for truth

Those kids won't get a second chance

They had to leave the dark

And in the fightless moonlit night

They made their final mark.
