I feel blind from the sheen

Of the barrier between us.

Double paned and reinforced,

I can barely hear you,

Even if you scream.

Our hands can touch on either side,

Our lips can press against the surface,

But I will never feel you.

Others may come and may go.

Arms from strangers may comfort

And steal your heart away.

But I will always be nothing more

Than the girl on the other side of the glass,

Here for a talk, a listen, and a laugh.
