Slander

.

Crying incessantly,

Quietly.

Afraid that someone might hear.

Unsmiling.

Always brought down by others.

She locked herself in the bathroom again

Just to escape the torture.

Her hands clamped tightly over her ears

Trying to block out the hurt.

Her tear-stained face tilted upwards

Pleading the heavens to make everything stop.

.

She once was able to free herself from their clutches

But she let herself be fooled

By those she thought loved her.

Believing in all that they had said

Not seeing through the lies

And now they had her trapped again,

How could she have been so stupid?

.

As more curses rained down on her

From the other side of the door

She vowed that when she escapes again

Never again will she be fooled

And the verbal abuse will be there no more.
