"Broken Glass"

June 27, 2009

As my silent tears rinse the dishes,

Your piercing demands drown out the sounds of the rushing water—

Just like you drown out the cries of my rushing emotions.

You throw your beautiful, delicate glasses into the sink like they're garbage,

And while they don't break,

I do.

I may not be beautiful, but I am delicate.

And no amount of the apologies you fail to say

Could ever mend the amount of damage

You've done to my crystal heart.
