I collapsed against his warm chest with a soft grunt. He chuckled beside me and began stroking the small of my back in soothing patterns. Taking in a deep breath, his scent along with the tang of sweat and sex filled my nostrils.
"Oh, I've missed you, Jael," He murmured against the top of my head. I nodded and snuggled closer to him. His grip tightened when he noticed my movement. "When is he coming back?"
I lifted my head away from his chest and looked behind him at the atrociously bright clock. It winked the numbers back at me and I cursed softly before pushing away from the boy beneath me in a hurry. I got out of the messy bed and began gathering my clothes.
"Get your clothes on," I ordered as I threw a shirt at Shane. He looked up at me with eyes filled with lust before whining with a groan. When he didn't show signs of movement, I walked over to him and pulled him up. Looking into his steel gray eyes, I repeated myself in a deathly low voice. "Get your clothes on now."
He finally decided to listen and leapt out of the bed, also gathering his clothes. "You know, we need to stop doing this. I mean, why can't you just tell the guy the truth?"
I pulled my jeans on before turning and matching his eyes with mine. "Because," I started off as I walked closer towards him. I strutted slowly towards him and I could see his eyes roam every inch of my body as I got closer. I pressed myself against his bare chest and stroked his defined arms. "This is more fun."
Winking at him, I grabbed my shirt off the ground near his foot and slipped into it as he stood stiffly above me. Just as I heard a door slam from downstairs, I walked out of the steamy bedroom and descended the stairs.
I looked around before recognizing the thick curls of my boyfriend in the kitchen. He grabbed a carton of orange juice out of the fridge and began drinking out of it. I strolled over to him and embraced from behind before kissing his shoulder. Putting down the carton, he turned around and held me by the waist.
"Hey babe," Luke greeted before bringing me into a lip-lock. Eventually, we separated when his brother came down. "I didn't know you were home."
"Well, I am," Shane replied angrily before grabbing a beer out of the fridge. Luke and I shared an amused looked before smiling at each other. We always found Shane's mood swings hilarious – however, Luke never knew most of Shane's mood swings were because of his jealousy.
"How long have you been here, baby?" Luke asked as we walked over to their living room. I sat on the couch and shrugged.
"A few minutes? I went upstairs to look for you and you walked in when I was in your room," I lied easily while matching Luke's dark gray eyes. He accepted the answer easily before taking a joint out of his pocket and reaching over me to grab a lighter from the coffee table. Shane walked in, saw his younger brother, and scoffed.
"What a great way to spend time with your girlfriend, douchebag," He said.
Luke looked up at his older brother of two years and glared, "At least I have one, asshole."
I watched disinterestedly as the two siblings continued their fight. It was normal for them to argue so I never bothered paying attention. Even when they're fighting about me, I never cared. After all, it's not like I cared about either of them.
I shut off my alarm clock and stretched before walking over to the bathroom. Stepping into the startlingly cold shower, I yelped before waiting for the temperature to increase.
The dream was an odd memory, something I never would have voluntarily remembered because it was from a time of my life I wasn't proud of. Back then, I was high or drunk about eighty percent of the time and never cared about anyone besides myself. It was easy to be selfish, after all.
Shane and Luke Odell were my favorite brothers. Shane was in high school, could drive, and had plenty of experience in bed whereas Luke was my dealer but I called him my boyfriend so he would give me as much pot as I wanted for free. Luke never figured out what was happening between Shane and I, and I never had the urge to tell him. I never gave two shits about either of them.
Tray, however, is a completely different story.
After my shower, I brushed my teeth and change into a pair of comfortable sweatpants and a large hoodie. Slipping on my Circas, I left my bedroom as Faye snored lightly behind me. I was a bit early for my rendezvous with Tray but the cool air was refreshing and I planned on enjoying it.
I started walking from my dorm building and began to circle the quad. Reiner's had a large field that was in the middle of all the dorm buildings and the buildings where our classes were held. The fields were constantly green and perfectly groomed, thanks to the gardeners that worked all hours of the day. The leaves of the trees were beginning to change and it left a whimsical flavor to the school. Everything seemed surreal in the scene, including the tiny animals that inhabited the place.
"Hey," I looked up at the familiar voice and Tray's sweet blue eyes met mine. I gave him a barely noticeable grin and stuffed my hands into the pocket of my sweatshirt.
"So, you going to tell me what happened last night?" He questioned innocently as we began walking again. I sighed and nodded sadly. Leading us off to the garden near the front of the school, I sat down in the middle of it where a bench big enough for the two of us sat. Sitting down, Tray followed my lead. He reached for my hand but I pulled away and shook my head.
"You already know," I started. Looking away from his face, I watched the leaves sway gently against the breeze.
He sighed beside me and I could tell he ran a hand through his hair. I felt him slumping lower on the bench. "We can work this out."
"No, we can't." I shook my head.
"I really love you, Jael."
I nodded, "I know you do. I like you but we're not right for each other."
"If you like me and I like you, then we can work this out!"
"We can't, Tray. Stop saying that."
"It's true though! You might not see it but we're great together." He began stroking my hand.
"I cheated on you." The stroking stopped.
He sucked in a deep breath. "With Ashton," He continued.
"Yeah," I affirmed.
"You like him?"
"I'm not sure. All I know is that every time I'm near him, I can't control myself. I can't get him out of my head and …I feel really comfortable around him. I never feel like I have to hide myself from him."
"You don't have to do that to me!" He exclaimed passionately. He grabbed my hands from out of my pockets and tugged on them until I eventually turned towards him. "I love you, Jael. You don't have to hide anything from me."
"But I do, Tray. If you knew half the stuff I used to do, you wouldn't even want to be with me. You and I are from different worlds, despite both of us coming from the same backgrounds. We're into different things and … we just won't work out. I'm sorry."
"Just one more chance," He begged. I almost thought he was going to get on his knees which would be really pathetic. "You can tell me everything you did and I'll accept it. We're not that different, Jael. Relationships are all about compromise, I can do that!"
"No, Tray, no. I'm sorry. We're done," I said with finality. He was really starting to get on my nerves.
He must have sensed my annoyance because he nodded and stood while releasing my hands. "Fine, but I just want you to know that I'm not giving up. We're good together and you'll see that one of these days. I'll still be here for you because I know you're a good person, despite what you think of yourself."
I watched as he walked away from me and towards his dorm room. I sighed and fell back on the bench in relief. That was harder than I thought. Who knew he was so persistent?
After a few minutes of sitting alone, I strolled back to my room where Faye was still getting ready. She greeted me happily while picking out accessories with her stylish outfit.
"So, how'd it go?"
"Horrible. He was begging me to give us another try. And you were right, he knew."
She rolled her eyes and sat next to me on her bed. "Tray's always like that. He's a sucker for love and will probably be trying to get back with you for a couple of weeks before he realizes how lonely and unsatisfying it is," She told me with a wink. I rolled my eyes because I knew how true it was – Tray may not have seemed like it but he was no different from all the other horny teenage boys I've been with.
"And of course I was right, I'm always right," Faye finished off with a shrug before slipping on her Jimmy Choos.
Once she finished, the two of us gathered our stuff and began our trek to the café. As usual, we were among the last to enter the café and made an extravagant entrance. Nearly everyone looked our way and I could tell all the boys were staring at Faye's long legs which were only accentuated by her heels.
We sat down at our regular table near the back and I slumped down in my seat. Everyone was already there and I could tell by the stares that they figured out my decision with Tray. Ashton, especially, looked pleased.
All of us began to eat and made conversation about stupid things like the food and the weather.
Faye, trying to break the silence, started talking about her date for later tonight.
"He's in a band and I met him last night at the party. He's got the prettiest hazel eyes and great hair. I mean, he should be in a fucking shampoo commercial or something because his hair is gorgeous. I can't wait until later tonight to run my fingers through it," She let out with a wink at me. I chuckled at her excitement but didn't miss Drue's angry pout.
"You okay, Drue?" I asked, trying to get him to admit something.
"I'm fine," He answered tersely. I chuckled again.
"Oh, what's got my bro's panties in a twist?" I looked over my shoulder and saw mini-Drue walking towards us with a charming smile.
"Shut the fuck up, Dakota," Drue grumbled while reaching for his orange juice.
"Ouch! Someone needs to get laid," Dakota teased. He walked straight for my seat and sat on my lap. I hugged his slim form as he slid his arm around my shoulders. His light brown hair tickled my cheeks but I ignored it the best I could. Drue's gray eyes clashed with Dakota's dark, almost-black orbs in an angry glare.
"So, how is everyone this fine morning?" The freshman asked with lusty look at Nadine and Sammy. The two of them returned the look at the young but increasingly attractive boy.
"We're all fucking great. Can you leave now?" Tray nearly barked at the brunette. Dakota looked at his brother's best friend unfazed. Leaning down to my ear, he whispered, "You finally dumped him, huh?"
I nodded while not meeting Tray's eyes. He already knew what Dakota was asking me.
"Well then, this was a great meeting. You ladies look lovely and I will catch all of you at a later date when no one wants to kill me! Farewell," He said as a departure. All the girls, including me, chuckled at his behavior whereas Tray and Drue still looked like they wanted to kill him. Reed and Ashton were still stuffing their faces.
When the bell rang, Ashton began walking to our first period class together. The two of us shared French and I tried to ignore the irony – Tray and I had French together last year.
We sat down with nearly three minutes to spare and the class was almost empty besides a few other early students. Ashton sat behind me but I still tried to ignore him. After all, he hasn't said a word to me all morning and I broke up with my boyfriend for him. What an asshole.
"Excusez-moi mademoiselle," I felt someone tugging on my hair and I stiffened at the contact.
"Je ne parle pas aux inconnus," I replied without turning around.
I heard him sigh behind me and continued playing with my hair.
"Vous n'avez pas semblé avoir des objections l'autre nuit," He whispered into my ear. Despite myself, I leaned back into him and could smell his familiar scent. I could feel him surround me with his arms and gave up on resisting his warmth.
"Vous faire me veut?" I asked softly as I turned towards him with my lips close to his jaw line.
"Toujours, mon amour."
"Bon," I answered as I grabbed him tenderly and pressed my lips against his. All I could feel was him and my entire self wanting him and for once since the beginning of the year, I didn't feel an ounce of guilt.
Notes: I know it's short, but there wasn't anything I really needed to write in this chapter except the two of them breaking up :P Anyways, I hope everyone is having a great winter break and happy holidays :)
