The light went fast. Good, he thought, rubbing his hands together.
Annaline woke with a start. It was a freaky dream. Always is. Venus, Erin, and her were at Venus's house, alone. Venus was in the kitchen, making something for Erin. Mortals never do well on the trip to Olympia.
"Venus," she yelled, groaning over the bruise on her side.
"Yes?" the mother asked.
"Why am I here? I was banished, remember?"
"You are here to destroy Mars, and his mortal wife. Yes, I remember that day. I think you were in love when you were kicked out."
"I was, Venus."
"with whom?"
"A mortal." Annaline got out of the bed, wincing. Never, ever go to Olympia until I'm unpunished, Annaline thought.
"I see." Venus walked over to Annaline, and held her close.
"When are we going to Tairely?" Annaline asked.
"Whenever your friend wakes up."
"OK, then."
