"I really love the story..." His voice trailed off. He looked away.
"Do you?" I knew that I sounded helpless.
His eyes narrowed as if he was concealing some enormous pain before locking his eyes with mine. This time, however, there was something different in his eyes.
"Yes." He breathed.
"I am no angel, I'm definitely not a knight. I'm no prince and I'm not your saviour." My eyes widened in surprise. Did he just say that? What?
He leaned in closer so that his face was just a few inches apart and I could feel my face heating up and my pulse quicken.
"I don't want to be all those fantasies."
He paused, as he assessed my reaction and a smile formed in his lips.
"I am yours and-" As he said this, it was a miracle that my brain was able to function and catch up to what he was saying. His eyes bore into me.
"-You are mine." I completed and he was somewhat surprised at this. He never thought about me liking him back.
I bit my lip as the moments between us widened and became minutes. We just stared at each other, trying to see if we did love each other and if the other feels the same way.
"Definitely." I stated and I hate to admit it but I was sweating all over.
"Maybe." His smile turned into a mischievous grin and a glint was in his eyes.
Uh? What? I raised an eyebrow. Did he just say what I think he just said? That was confusing. I planted my right foot firmly on the ground before turning on the spot, already deciding on moving to Europe.
My Europe.
But he grabbed my forearm and pulled me back so that I swirled and landed firmly against his chest and both of his arms were around me. This, I thought, is killing me softly.
I looked up at his face and that smile was no longer there. "I love you."
Those three words sounded murderously and devastatingly great to my ears that I melted into his form so that I was leaning on him. A smile formed in my lips as I said this, "You caught me."
He grinned. "And don't you dare think that I don't like you or anything."
"Because you do." I said, as he leaned in closer. No way.
No way I was risking it.
I leaned away from him this time but my hands were still on his shirt. "What are you doing?"
"Um...what do you think?" he winked at me, still leaning in closer.
"No!"
"If you kiss me before the wedding then you're breaking the rules. You need and have-" I paused as I explained and added a few words to it. "Scratch that. You need, want, have, must, should and definitely kiss me on that day which is tomorrow."
"But," he pouted though I knew that by the expression in his eyes that he understood.
I rolled my eyes. "You can have me all you want after the wedding-" But then I stopped. Oh my God! Did I just say that? Did I just do that?
I looked at him and he grinned. "Well, okay then. See you tomorrow!" He said it enthusiastically as he removed his arms around me and stepped back.
Oh no! My arms suddenly felt empty and my heart felt hollow. I narrowed my eyes at him but he continued to grin in that handsomely mischievous way. "Nu-uh. Tomorrow's the wedding. Wait for it." He wagged a warming finger at me.
This time, I pouted. No fair.
