Lamond: Get out of my way
Valentine: Watch where you're going
Marc: Give me your fate
Ruin the seeds I'm sewing
A#m G# F# Fm
Marc: That's what they do
People are so cruel
How can you treat me this way
How can a man not have a say
All I want to do is right
They pick on my because I'm shy
(In the Commons standing under a light)
Cordell: Now break open this light
Marc: And If I don't comply
Cordell: I'll punch you in the eye
Marc: I'd like to see you try
(Punch)
Cordell: What? You gonna cry?
Marc: I'm thinking 'why can't I kill this guy'
A#m G# F# C#
Marc: Leave me alone
Leave my life be
I wish they can know
What I can see
Look in my eyes
Past the tears that go by
Do you see my disguise
Do you see what I hide
A#m G# D# C#
Peaceful atmospheres
Can coat the bad frontiers
Hope you liked it here
The world with so much fear
My pain under the surface
Now you do you still think its worth it
Don't tell me its not , I've already heard it
You're helping yourself, you're killing my soul
I've given you power
I've given control
A#m G# F# Fm
Don't tell me what I am
Because you don't know who you are
So why bother proving you can't get very far
A#m G# F# Fm
Narrow it from here
Tears are dropped in here
Lies are spilled in here
Souls are killed in here
Souls are killed in here
A#m G# F# C#
Leave me alone
Leave my life be
I wish they can know
What I can see
Look in my eyes
Past the tears that go by
Do you see my disguise
Do you see what I hide

Narrow it from here
Tears are dropped in here

Souls are killed in here
Souls are killed in here
Narrow it from here

Lies are spilled in here
Souls are killed in here
Souls are killed in here
Scene 2-
(Marc catches up with Curt and August)
Curt: Hey Marc. Walk with me. We have history, right?
Marc: The light. That fight.
Curt: Forget about the sight of the losers, please don't be intimidated. Your eye!
Marc: I'm so degraded. That light was fading, breaking.
Who am I to put it out of its misery.
Curt: Lights don't feel, lights don't see.
Marc: But don't you see, we rely on them.
Curt: Please listen to me. Forget about this. Forget about them. And let's go to history.
Marc: I detest that class. I won't ever go fast.
August: Fast is relative. When life is longlived.
Appreciate the minutes and the days
Don't let your seconds slip away.
Marc: Nevertheless in disarray.
August: Hey, you're shaking again.
Marc: Remember me, my friend. Here I go again.
(Runs out of the classroom and wanders the hallways)
Marc: Release myself from you.
That's all I gotta do.
You parasitic pathetic animal, you will lose.
I can do this. I know I can.
Release your self from my name.
My friends all believe in me.
Now get over this agony.
I'm looking at them, they believe I can.
Forget the selfish animals.
Pathetic and nothing animals.
Your proving yourself they can conquer you.
Is that what you want them to do.
No I don't think I can.
Oh, god, make it end.
Narrow it from here
Tears are dropped in here
Lies are spilled in here
Souls are killed in here
Souls are killed in here
(Returns to calculator)
Marc: I guess not.
August: Hang in there.
Marc: I can't.
Scene 3-
August: If you create it, you can stop it. Believe that you can stop it
Tempest: And with that you will stop it.
Cosme: Just stop it.
Marc: I never meant to put burden on all of you.
August: Cosme go away, that's not what you do.
Marc: No, I understand, I'll go away.
August: You don't understand, you must stay. Admit that you can save yourself
Admit that you can stop it
You must want to stop it
When do metaphors
Mean something more than what we see
What we feel
Marc: I can't see, I can't heal
August: When do certainties
Verify working free, for the price
Marc: Is it murder for what's right?
Right when one dies?
I can't find the answer
I've searched too long for reason
Nothing is in season
When nightmares dreams it
It's not here, there are hidden meanings
It's not straightforward why?
Why can't I know
Did I not learn the lesson yet?
How much will I bleed till I'm dead
Is my blood red, is my blood red?
August: If you create it, you can stop it
Believe that you can stop it.
Admit that you can stop it.
You must want to stop it.
Scene 4-
(Wake up from a Nightmare)
(Scream)
Marc: How do you think it feels
To watch you stab yourself a million times
To watch your friend commit suicide
Even when you know its in your mind
How do you think I feel
If this isn't hell, I never want to know
I've seen too many deaths in my head
Too many actions to try and go
Try and leave, stuck in place, leave me here
I can't get out anyway, My life wants to leave everything
The rooms, the dreams, the screaming, the pain
This loneliness that compliments disdain
Let hell freeze, let the cold reign over this disease
Make me numb, make me free.
Anywhere, take me anywhere but here
How do you think it feels
To watch you kill yourself a million ways
To watch a million people die
And not one life can be saved
(Calls Cécile)
Cécile: Hello?
Marc: I'm losing it.
Cécile: Hang in there.
Marc: I can't cope.
Cécile: We'll meet.
Marc: Where?
Cécile: Across the street, from your house. We'll figure everything out.
(Hang up)
Marc: How do you think I feel.
I wish I can eliminate this pain
These thoughts of losing time
This voice telling me I'm going insane.
Scene 5-
(Cécile is waiting outside Marc's house at 11 P.M. and she calls him)
Cécile: Marc, I'm outside your house.
Marc: Let's go away, lie with me now
Cécile: On the grass?
Marc: Lets watch the stars.
Get away from where we are.
Cécile: Relax, lay with me
Marc: Stay with me, die with me
Cécile: I won't die with you, because
You won't die tonight or any other time
Marc: I might. But we can go away now.
We can pick up and leave this place.
I hate this place, I hate this place.
Cécile: Lay with me. Stay with me.
Marc: Die with me. Fly away.
I'm only showing what I want you to see
You see my soul? Of course you can't see
My mask is thick, its weighing on me
Die with me. Die with me.
Cécile: But you can't just run away.
Marc: I can try.
Cécile: You shouldn't avoid reality.
Marc: I can try
Cécile: Why should you try.
You can get through this with August and I.
Lie with me
Marc: Die with me
(Die with me)
A D A# A Dm
Marc: Only see what I want you to see
I've a mask on that's frightening me
I hide from the truth, I hide from you
In my mind, there's nothing I can do
Only see what I want you to believe
Trying to help others when I can't breathe
Trying to escort them when i can't even leave
Myself, please, give some help to me
Marc: When I am no longer here
i've shown myself, I can't conquer fear
With my right hand I'll fade away
Out of place, out of mind I'll stay
And when the darkness comes
I'll hold my head away from the sun
The light will disappear it'll all be gone
And i won't be able to hurt anyone
Scene 6-
Cécile: Where is he?
Tempest: He didn't come today.
Cécile: I'm worried for his sake.
Tempest: Maybe he took a break
Cécile: A break from school?
August: A break from ruling over him. He doesn't like authority.
Cécile: (Muttering) He said 'die with me'
August: He's sick and tired of trying to breathe
Doesn't want to hide in his skin
Or commit suicide to win, you don't win when you die
But you can win if you try
Cécile: He wants the pain to leave. He wants axiety to leave.
He doesn't want to shake. He's always nauseous for Christ's sake.
August: It was a mistake to miss school. He's got to face his fears.
(Cordell walks in)
Cordell: Why isn't Marc here?
August: You want to torment him? You get enjoyment from it?
Cordell: Suck it up
August: Shut the fuck up.
Cécile: I'll call him at home. I'm worried
Tempest: Don't be worried, he's probably fine.
Cécile: And if he's not, the fault is mine.
I've already take too much time.
(Cécile calls Marc)
Cécile: Marc, marc, are you here?
Marc: I am here
Cécile: Are you okay?
Marc: I'm not okay. I'm sick of this.
Cécile: I will visit you after school. I'll be there
Marc: You'll be where?
Cécile: Your house. Your house.
(Cécile comes back to August)
Cécile: My hope is fading as his soul is fading.
I'm in this classroom and I can't stand waiting.
How can I sit here when my friend is in pain.
August: Aren't you exaggerating? Overestimating?
Cécile: You can't be too sure. Do you know where we were?
August: Last night?
Cécile: We were lying in the ground. He was dying on the ground.
That was the closet to relaxing he had.
August: I understand you're worried for him. You have tried
It's not your fault he's in pain.
Cécile: But this disdian.
August: It's all in your head.
Cécile: You are wrong, his thoughts are dead.
I told him I'd understand
August: You told him you'd try
Cécile: My friend is gonna die!
August: He's not gonna die. Remember? No suicide!
Cécile: Alright.
August: Please relax for me. For him. For you. For your sake.
Cécile: We might be too late after school.
August: Hang in there, I'll show you the truth.
Cécile: I'll show you the truth. I'll see you.
August: I'll be there.
Scene 7-
Marc: This is you doing this to yourself
These are your eyes revealing no one else
I'm lightly fading, this pain is staying
My minds betraying, I can not feel
This isn't letting up to realize
These are your eyes, stealing energy
I'm lightly praying, my soul's decaying
Torn and fraying, for fear is real
(August and Cécile see him close his blinds in the window. They knocked on the door, but he would not answer. They run around back to the open door, they run to his room and find him on the floor with a knife in his hand, about to stab himself.)
Cécile: Stop!
Marc: This is you doing this to yourself
These are your eyes revealing no one else
I'm lightly fading, this pain is staying
My minds betraying, I can not feel
This isn't letting up to realize
These are your eyes, stealing energy
I'm lightly praying, my soul's decaying
Torn and fraying, for fear is real
August: Why exist if society dismisses variety
It misses entirely, why are we here?
[FIRST ENDING]
Scene 8-
(Marc is at a mental hospital)
Marc: I dreamt that I almost killed myself.
Doctor: But, you did kill yourself.
Marc: Wait, where am I?
(The doctor vanishes and the hospital turns black. Marc is alone.)
[SECOND ENDING]
Scene - 8
(At a mental hospital, Marc is in a bed. Tempest, August, Cosme, and Cécile are all around him.)
Cécile: Thank god you are alright.
August: You had a breakdown. Can you think clearly now.
Marc: Nearly, I'm alive, aren't I?
August: That you are.
Marc: I didn't want to die... I... the knife...
Cécile: it's alright, let it be.

How is there a god, if the good suffer
If that bad betray, and the righteous pay
How do we know to hang in there
Nothing tells us to hang in there
How do we know to play along
To right the wrongs, to stand strong
How do we know to hang in there?
Nothing tells us to hang in there
How is there a god, if the good suffer
If that bad betray, and the righteous pay
How do we know to hang in there
Nothing tells us to hang in there
Should I play along
When happiness may be a long long way home
