I looked out the window into the rain, thinking.
You see, wer'e not your normal family. Wer'e all immortal. We were all killed in January 1988. Scientists found us, and took the little life in our bodies, and recreated us. We weren't exactly who we were before. We had no memory of what we used to be. Actually, I don't know if that was us. We could just be trapped in someone else's bodies. The scientists gave us names, and they treated us awful. They stuck us in cages, and took samples. Thank God for Dr. Jack Johnson, he saved us from that hell-hole. He worked there, and saw what they did. He took us away, him and his wife adopted us. We've been in hiding for the past twenty years. But now wer'e going to school, in Twin Falls,Washington, a really small town not really known to most people, the population was about 2,221. We all have they all have special abilities, like powers. But I don''t have one. Wer'e all smarter, faster, stronger, and more beautiful than your average human being. Oh, and we all have violet colered eyes, I guess something in the chemicals. I hope we can pull this off.
James, Jade, and Claire, are posing as Jack biological children. Peter and I are posing as brother and sister orphans.
Peter and Jade were together, and married. They got together about fifteen years ago, and got married thirteen years ago.
James, Claire, and I were all single. James, Peter, Jade, and I were going to school because Jack was making us, Claire was going to school for the boys.
I jumped when I heard someone shriek downstairs, it was Claire.
"The school bus is here!" she exclaimed, I was at her side in a matter of milleseconds.
"Isn't that what most kids run from?" I asked James, we were both staring at Claire who had already ran, and boarded the bus.
"That's what I thought, but those television shows could be wrong." he said, I nodded.
"I don't know. I don't feel like screaming with joy." I said, looking at the ugly yellow tube in our drive.
"I'm with you." he said, and with that we went and boarded what most kids call a 'twinkie'. I thought that was just a snack food, man we were so smart, but so naive. I looked up as I walked in, and the kids all just stared at all of us.
"Awkward." Jade sing-songed to low for anyone else to hear as she walked by me. I smirked, Claire was already chatting it up with some guy. May be it won't be that bad!
at lunch...
So it hadn't been that bad yet, but one of my teachers hate me. Ms. Clark, my physics teacher, hates me because I know more than she does.
I sat down next to Jade who was arguing with James, them two cannot get along. I looked at Peter who was smiling and shaking his head at the two.
"So, what are we arguing about this century?" I asked, James laughed a little.
"Like you don't know." he said, I shook my head.
"Nope I don't." I said, he nodded.
"Oh, well, we're arguing about how dumb she is." he said, Jade kicked the crap out of him to.
"Where's Claire?" I asked, everyone shrugged.
"Probably with that guy." Peter said, I shrugged. I heard the all to farmiliar clicks of heels heading our way.
"There she is." I said, then turned to see her walking up.
"Hey guys!" she enthused, hate to say it, but Claire was a prep. We all more than unenthusiasticlly chimed hello.
"Guess what?" she asked excitedly.
"What." we all asked in unision.
"You know that guy I was talking to on the bus?" she asked, we all nodded.
"Wer'e so together! I'm planning an August wedding!" she shrieked, I smirked.
"What's his name?" I asked, her face went from happy to blank. We all laughed.
"Um... Damn, I forgot!" she hit her head against the table.
The few times we went out of hiding to go somewhere, she did this. She's the pretty dumb blonde girl, Jade's the mean girl that has black hair, which makes her look all dark and evil, and I'm the little bronze haired girl, who tries to act as interested as possible for Jack and Marie.
"Claire, do you even like him?" I asked, she nodded.
"Well duh, he's so adorable!" she said, Jade tilted her head beside me.
"Do you like him because his adorableness or because he's a nice guy?" Jade asked, I laughed.
"Um... Yes?" she said, which sounded more like a question.
"You could marry a hot card-board cut-out, and not know the difference." Peter told her, she frowned.
"Oh, shut up!" she exclaimed, we all stifled our laughter.
"So, Aubree, have you found the love of your life, and future hubby yet?" James asked, Claire glared at him.
"Nope." I laughed.
after school...
I was getting my books from my locker for the day, beyond ready to go home. I closed my locker, and jumped back. A guy was standing there.
"Um, hi?" I asked, he smiled.
"Sorry I scared you." the stranger said, I nodded.
"I'm Evan, and you're Aubree. Right?" he asked, I was suprised he knew who I was.
"Yes, I'm Aubree." I said, he smiled.
"So you and your family are new here?" he asked, I nodded.
"Yes, very new." I said.
"Well in that case, I was wondering if you needed a tour guide?" he asked, I raised an eyebrow.
"You know, someone to show you what us Twin Falls kids do on Friday nights." he said, I thought for a second.
"Well..." I started.
"Come on, there's a party Friday, come with me." he said. He was really cute, he had shaggy black hair, and big brown eyes, and dimples.
"Okay, that sounds fun." I said, he smiled.
"Cool, see you then." he said, I smiled.
"Bye." I said.
"Later!" he called.
I bit my lip, maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all.
