Whyler
-Prologue-
She first saw him jump when she was five years old. He was standing with his back to her, facing the smooth deep blue water of the white cliffs of Dover, England. She couldn't see his face as she was behind him, but she could see his back, and his profile: long legs and a long torso, with long arms and broad shoulders. He wasn't gangly in the least, but had an intense and intriguing aura about him. A dangerous aura. As he took one more step, she watched in horror as his willowy light brown hair flew up as he dropped.
Her throat had constricted so much that she couldn't make a sound. But as she rushed to the edge of the cliff, it felt as if she was running through quick sand. She still couldn't speak as she looked down into the blue water below. There wasn't any wind, so the sea was calm, and small waves curled against the sand: crashing, then retreating, crashing, retreating. The water wasn't deep, however. It was probably only about two feet deep directly down, because of the low tide. White sand could be seen below the cliff, and small, colorful pebbles dotted the shore.
He couldn't have drowned because it was too shallow. She should have looked over the edge and seen him sprawled in the shallows. She should have seen his legs, with his feet broken and shattered, the result of the impact of landing feet first. And if he had been still alive, she should have heard his piecing scream erupting through the air. But he wasn't. No, he was walking along the white sand bordering the cliffs, with his hands shoved in his pockets, and his light brown hair swirling around his head in an invisible wind that was not blowing.
Authors Note:
Alright this is the second upload of this prologue. All I really did here was change the title format, and the name is set. Dolby doesn't really have anything to do with the story, but it might later. Chapter one is now up, and chapter two is in progress and will be out sometime before Christmas. I have finals next week, and then it's freedom until January. Thank you to all of my loyal readers, and Paranormal Lifestyles will be completed before the new year. At least, that's my goal. Wish me luck, and I hope you like the story!
Cheers,
Whyler
P.S. Dolby is the name of my car.
