This I have had for years but I haven't messed with it since I had started writing my other one, Life for the Chase. I've inspired myself to start on it, especially since I have come up with some things. Though those are the wonder inspirations of doing roleplays. I hope you guys enjoy because this is my first vampire story. I had stopped it also when I couldn't think of anything. Damn brain stoppers I call them instead of the other word which I can't think of at the moment. Please review though because if I get some for this one then I will defently continue it. ^.^

Chapter 1

Crash! Broom! Crash! It was the noise that I was getting tired of, especially since it dealt with the ripping up of the beautiful 10-foot-wide trees in the beautiful landscape of the forest. I didn't know why my mother would want to tear it all up for her fancy driveway to the mansion she just bought but I knew I couldn't say anything since I was the child she didn't want and was the mistake with her last husband. It didn't help either that I looked like my father with the proud arching eyebrow, ocean-blue brightness of my eyes, long curly hair of an almost pitch blackness and a youthful face for my 17 year old body.

It was very unfair that my mother despised me just because I am the spawn of her ex. But at least my younger brother wouldn't have to go through what I have and have to worry about everything that I did. With that thought about Vetitro, I looked around for him. He was slowly easing his way to one of the downed trees those stupid machines did and I gasped calling out for him.

He turned to me with a quick sharp turn of his neck and grinned at me with mischief in his eyes of pure green with gold around the edge.

I called out for him, with a finger pointing beside me in emphasis, back to me with his brown wavy hair swirling behind him. The excitement disappeared from his face when I gave him a dirty look of anger. "I told you to stay near me! You can get hurt being around those!" I scorned pointing to the same spot where one of those tree picker-uppers was and he followed my finger to it.

His face changed even more to fear and apologetic as he looked at me. He was a smart boy for his age of 10 and I was glad we got along or else my life would be even more miserable.

I looked back to the mansion and smiled at the beauty and plainness. Though I don't know if you should call a house that's underground plain with a servants' quarters that was separated from it. The walkway that led from the cobblestone driveway went through stone walls with purple vine flowers growing along it and the stone vases that were along the wall every 5 feet. Beyond that, there were small trees that were about 3 feet wide with circular gardens around them and the actual buildings.

It was covered in moss and weathered carvings of creatures that I've only seen in books. Vampires, angels, werewolves and mermaids killing each other in their dance of stone and marble that faded to just bare curves and crevasses.

"Vetitro! Come here!" Came my mother's high pitched voice and I thanked the Lord for not watching him anymore even though she would complain to me later for letting him too near the trees. I was used to it though since she complained to me about everything anyway.

So he ran off and left me alone and I heard more trees being cut away so I decided to go inside to get away from the sawing noise that made me want to kill everyone for murdering the beautiful trees. With a glance around, as I walked to the house, I frowned not seeing a pair of stairs to the front door. "Great, now I'm going to have to look for it. I'm not asking mother. She'll just say I'm useless if I can't even find my way inside the house."

"Are you lost miss?" A slick British male voice asked and made me shiver as it passed through me. I turned around and arched an eyebrow at the man around my age. His hair came down in red curls to his shoulders though they didn't seem the right color and his eyes were a bright green that clashed with his white, pale face. His arms, chest and shoulders were broad and thick enough to match with the rest of his body and look good though. He had on a suit of black and blood red shirt under it with shining shoes and top hat to match.

"What are you dressed up for?" I asked, a smirk showing as I finally looked back to his face to meet his eyes.

"I'm the butler," he stated, his face not showing anything but respect.

"Butler? Did my mother hire you?"

"I've been here for years."

"Oh, I see. Well…" I looked away and started looking for an entrance again.

"I heard what you said. Is she that cruel to you?" The question was random so it made me stop and stare at the spot I was seeing now. But it did make some sense because what I said seemed like she was cruel. But would he tell her if I told him? It made me look back to him with that thought in mind and watch his face for any sign that he would. He didn't. This man seemed trustworthy enough and plus he could just be curious.

"She is. To me only," came my whispered answer and looked down sadly.

"I'm sorry. It seems that you're family is like every other wealthy one. You all have problems that regular families, like mine, don't have."

"How?" I asked and looked up when I felt his hand on my shoulder.

"The children seem to always have it hardest than the middle-class. I've seen many, many families like yours."

"Yeah, I guess you can say that."

"May I ask why she is like that to you?"

"Because I'm her ex-husbands daughter. I was a mistake, unlike my brother."

"I'm sorry. Wish I could help."

"So do I."

"I can help make your life a lot easier." He said and I had to smile.

"Sure, I wouldn't mind at all."

He showed me a soft smile and held his hand out. Some confusion ran through my mind as I stared at the pale, long fingered hand, but shrugged myself out of it placing my hand in his.

"I'm going to show you something and please keep it secret." He stated, taking a glance at me from the corner of his eye.

My answer was a nod. His reply was a soft squeeze to my hand and turn to the left. We ended our short adventure at a wall where it was so worn that you couldn't see anything but the moss and leaves of vines. He smiled down at me and let me go for a second to slide his hands across a section that showed the head of one of those creatures before. I thought it was a wolf but some leaves were covering it.

I heard creaking and scraping of something from behind it so I took a step towards the wall. Putting my and against it and leaned but was pulled back by him.

"Please stand back. You don't want to get scrapped." Almost as soon s he inquired that, a huge piece of that very same wall moved up quite fast. Fast enough that it would have made my face bleed profusely.

Inside was a hollow area with a little glass elevator big enough to fit 3 people and it swung lightly on four thick rusted wires at each corner. A small light danced and flickered against the dirty glass and I glanced over the edge of the space, between the cage and wall's edge, to the darkness below where a small, small light shone.

"I-Is this stable?" I croaked in worry, looking at him and noticed a small smile on his lips.

"Of coarse it is. I go down on it everyday." He stated and moved past me to open a door on the side of it. He stepped through without one bit of hesitation, even when he was fully inside. He swung back and forth even more with the cage without one crease of fear or worry in his face. It was more courage than what I could have done and he showed even more when he held his hand out for me, making it swing a little more.

I tasted a tinge of metallic liquid and I blinked in confusion, licking my lips and jumped when I tasted more. Putting my finger to my lips, it came back with my red blood. "Oh," I said in a soft, shocked whisper and pressed my lips together to stop the bleeding.

Looking up to the butler, I saw a yearning in his green eyes that seemed darker. That made me curious because he was staring right at my mouth. Stupid male lust. Maybe he hadn't grown mature yet like many of the other men and young adults. Stupid boys thinking immature thoughts most of the time about eveything. That's what I was thinking he was thinking about.

He noticed that I knew what he was looking at and moved his eyes back to mine. "You okay?"

"I-Yes, just nervous about getting in there."

A smile crossed his face, though not a full on, just the upward turn of his lips. He took my hand and gently pulled me towards him. "Don't worry. It was working fine yesterday."

"Well, okay." I stepped inside and the cage swung even more and so I clung to him when I fell forward. "I'm sorry." I told him and held onto the bar in the corner and let go of him.

"It's okay."

I didn't dare look at him but I knew that he was smirking with amusement from what just happened. Suddenly, a huge jerk came and I clung with both hands on the bar. My eyes were closed and breathe heavy with panic but when I felt a warm hand on my shoulder I calmed down. "Why-why is it so jerky?"

"It's old."

"Why did it move? There aren't any buttons or switches!" I inquired as I scanned it in curiousity. His finger pointed up and my eyes followed to see a bright ball shining and glittering in all its glory. It looked like a disco ball but it didn't twirl like it did and that shine didn't come from an unknown light source. Instead, it seemed to glitter all by itself. Nothing but its own brilliance. "What does that do? I've ever something like that before."

"It's the brain of this contraption. With just a thought it stops, goes, and moves to almost any place inside the house. Don't ask how it was made to do it. It's been here since I was here."

Another jerk came and it was so bad that I lost my grip and landed on him. "I don't like this thing even more now." I whispered against him then pushed myself away and stared at his chest. Brightness engulfed us and I covered my eyes from the strength of it and when I knew it wouldn't hurt any longer I looked. The light flickered on and off through the wooden panels that was the wall of the tunnel for the elevator thing. Through those cracks I could see a beautiful lake surrounded by trees and trees that were the same height as the ones at the top level where we started. But these were thin, though they were full of huge leaves.

Now I knew that this place, that was my new home, was very old and separated from the outside world. It was the only home for miles and miles around compared to the hard compacted urban cities of modern Europe where no living tree, except for these, lived and thrived.

The lake was a clear blue and green, letting me know that this place hadn't been messed with. "It's wonderful. Is my house on a cliff? I didn't notice it before." My hand was pressed to the glass as if to try to touch it. The beauty. The only thing that happened was the steam on the glass from my own heat.

"Yes, I'll take you sometime there. Swimming in the cool, clear water. Sitting on the white and tan sand. Lying in the shadows eating from a picnic you brought or sleeping in one of the trees that has a hammock."

I looked at him leaning against the side, eyes closed and a smile of content across his face. "I'm guessing you've done it plenty of times. Yeah, I would like to go down there. If I can." I whispered as I just remembered that my mother only let me out of the house for a few hours because she didn't trust me in staying out of trouble.

My sudden depression seemed to make the surroundings go dark but it was the natural darkness that it truly was. I looked around in that inky blackness that surrounded our little one source of light and noticed small changes in it. Squinting, to try to decipher what it was, I soon saw one that was close enough to me to see it. A light bulb that was blue and purple. "Why-"

"The last owner's daughter made her own hideout here. It's a cave that goes for miles. I can show you that, too, later. Now get ready." He stated and took my hand, putting it back on the bar and about the same time I was starting to ask for what and the cage jerked again but this time up. His grip tightened and caught me around the waist when I was falling once more.

I gripped his suit jacket and glared at him. "You could have told me sooner."

"I'm sorry, my mind drifted so I forgot. I don't have to hold onto anything any longer because I'm used to it." He let my waist go but held his hand on mine still. "Now I'm going to stop and let you get off somewhere away from your mother. Don't want her to find this." He stated once more and closed his eyes for a minute. "Ah, she's in your new room."

"How do you-" I started to ask but he stopped me with his answer. "It also sends signals to your brain showing a picture of where everyone is so you won't accidentally make someone fall or get hurt."

I made a small "O" with my mouth and shut up now. The darkness disappeared in the opening of something around us and the pouring in of light from the surrounding light fixtures.

This would be the first time I've seen the inside of the house since mother didn't take me to see it in the first place.

The young unknown butler next to me opened the door and stepped outside the elevator and pulled me through gently by my hand. Once I was fully out he closed the door and the elevator went back into the floor that closed above it showing no hint that there was ever a door for the thing.

"You said earlier that there were these openings everywhere. Where exactly are they?" Came my more than curious voice as I looked around at the splendor of the new home. To my left there was a spiraling staircase with roses and more of the figures that were welded into the metal and the steps looked like red marble. Dark wooded furniture stood everywhere and dark leather chairs were placed in a few places. A window was behind that staircase showing the lovely lake. When I went closer, I saw some stairs that led to it but didn't see a door. There was a curtain of spun gold and blue where the door was supposed to be and when I pulled it to the side, there the door was.

"As you can see, this place is very expensive. The staircase to down there, the chandelier," he pointed above him to dangling dewdrops of diamond, crystal and silver that hung from the high ceiling where angels and other mythical creatures seemed to dance and move above our heads. Wings flowed in the unseen wind. Those long-fanged creatures of the moonlight and dark night peaked out the shadows but didn't show their entire body for the painted light forced them to not but wanted be seen at least a little, even if it did hurt. Like their faces showed in magnificent detail. A wolf was shaped as the moon, the craters made into the eyes and the stars were lined to make the fur that glittered.

I gasped at the work of art and eyes grew wide as I took it all in.

"That painting and the fact that this home is underground. But I have to go. Good luck with your mother." He gave a bow of his head and opened the door behind him. Walking up the stone steps and back into the true light of the Mother Earth.

"Sis, mom wants you!" Vetitro's soft childish voice echoed through the house and a few moments I heard his tapping of footsteps.
