Lana flew across the Silver River in the hope of finding her friend Haley. She passed her fellow angels and bumped into St. Paul, all because she had an important message for Haley. She finally spotted her friend playing her harp underneath a big oak tree. She called out. "Haley!"
Haley turned and saw her friend Lana flying towards her. What's the matter now? She thought. Lana dropped by Haley's side; panting as she told Haley the reason why she flew out to find her. "Are you sure He wanted to see me?" asked Haley, still in disbelief.
"I'm pretty sure that's what He said," said Lana.
"Do you think I'm in trouble, Lana?"
"I honestly don't know, Haley," sighed Lana. "But you'd better hurry though. I accidentally bumped into St. Paul just to find you!"
Haley stood in front of the Golden Gates, a bit hesitant to go through. Taking a deep breath, she gathered what little courage she had and opened the gates. Once the gates opened, she was greeted by Metatron, The Holy Scribe. He stopped her before she flew past him. "There's no need for you to go to the Primum, Haley." Haley gave him a puzzled look. Metatron ran his hand through his hair and sighed. "What I meant to say was that you don't need to go to Him anymore. I'll tell you his message."
Haley relaxed a bit, but she was still nervous about His message. She kept recalling her actions, wondering if she did something wrong. Metatron saw the anxiety written all over her face. He chuckled, a little amused to see Haley like that. Haley looked at him, wondering what was so funny. "I apologize, Haley,"— he held up his hands in defense—"You just look cute when you're worried like that!"
A slight blush crept on Haley's face. "Am I in trouble, Metatron?" she blurted out.
"No. It's quite the contrary actually, Haley."
"So, what did He want to tell me?" she asked nervously.
Metatron shrugged. "He wants you to go down to Earth. . ." Earth? Earth?! Why would He want me to go down to Earth?! She thought. "E-earth. . .Earth?! B-but I thought. . Y-you s-said—"
"Calm down, Haley," he chuckled. "I said you're not in trouble."
"Then why Earth? I thought angels sent to Earth were banished?"
Metatron placed a hand on Haley's shoulder and gave her a reassuring smile. He explained to her that He wanted her to go down to Earth in order to teach someone a lesson. When she asked about the person that she was supposed to help, Metatron just shrugged. "I'm just a messenger. Now, go over to Gabriel and she'll fill you in on all the details."
Haley raised a brow. "I thought Gabriel was the messenger?" she asked, a smirk on her face.
"I happen to be nearby when He was asking for her." Metatron patted Haley's head and winked. "Now, hurry along before Gabriel has a fit."
Haley flew through the white, puffy clouds towards the Glittery Fountain when Lana appeared in front of her. "Haley! What did He say?! Are you in trouble?! What did you do?! Are you bei—" Haley cut her off, covering Lana's mouth with her hand. "Lana calm down! I'm not in any sort of trouble." Lana said something while her mouth is still being covered with Haley's hand.
Haley gave Lana a puzzled look. "What?" Haley removed her hand from Lana's mouth. Lana took a deep breath and exhaled. "So then," said Lana, "what did He say?"
"Actually, I didn't get to go to Him. Metatron met me at the gates."
"So what did Metatron tell you?"
Haley told Lana everything what happened a few moments ago with Metatron. She explained everything from Metatron meeting her at the gates, going down to earth to help someone, and her teasing Metatron for being a messenger for a while. "So, are going to do it, Haley?" asked Lana.
"I don't have much of a choice now do I?"
"I suppose you are right."
Haley sighed. "I should go over to Gabriel and just get this done with."
"Alright then, Haley," Lana gave Haley a tight hug and a peck on her cheek. "I'll be watching you from up here," winked Lana.
A bright shade of scarlet lit on Haley's cheeks. "Thanks, but no thanks, Lana."
"There you are, Haley! What took you so long?" Gabriel stood underneath the Arch of Judgment. Her arms were crossed over her chest, foot tapping anxiously, and a frown formed on her lips. "Where have you been?"
Haley landed softly on the cloud. "I'm sorry, Gabriel." Gabriel sighed and placed her right hand on her hip. "Why don't we just go down to Earth and get you settled?"
Haley nodded. "Alright then, but before we go, I have some questions. Is that alright?"
"Go ahead, Haley."
Haley hesitated for a moment, thinking it might be a big mistake to question His order. "It's just that, um," she began, trembling a little bit, "Why did He choose me? Aren't there better suited angels here? I mean, angels like you, angels of a much higher rank. And who is this person that I am supposed to help? And how exactly am I suppose to help that person?"
Haley expected Gabriel to lecture her about questioning an order from Him, but Gabriel just stood still. Gabriel looked at Haley and met her eyes and smiled. "First of all," she began, "I really don't know the reason why He chose you. But whatever it is, it must be a really good reason indeed. Just because I am an Archangel doesn't mean I can do everything. Everyone has a certain task, Haley." Haley raised a brow. "I mean, look at me, I'm just a messenger."
Haley smiled at that, remembering the amused look on Metatron's face for being a messenger for a while. "So then, are you ready to go down to Earth?" Gabriel asked.
"Of course, but you still haven't answered the last two questions."
"You'll find out when we get there." Gabriel winked at her and started to lead Haley down to Earth.
