I heard the angels in their choir,
How their song caressed my heart.
And the devil howled with laughter
As the harmonics fell apart.
And God cried out in anguish,
"Sopranos!
Sing the melody!
And altos! tenors! seconds! bass!
You're all in the wrong key!"
The demons snickered loudly,
Tortured souls began to scoff.
The angels began their song again,
but not much better off.
And God cried out in anguish,
"Fools!
Where is your energy?
Sopranos, girls! for Saint Peter's sake!
You're suppose to sing it softly!"
I heard the angels in a choir,
Their voices clashing worse than ever.
Then the Good Lord smiled at Satan
And they shared a laugh together.
