-10/16/2036 Alessia's point of view-

"Oscura! Hurry up! We're going to be late!"

I finished putting bobby pins in my hair and sprayed it so the intricate updo would stay. Alexandro was getting married today and Oscura decided that today would be the day that he would take forever to get ready. I stepped back, looking in the mirror. My flame red hair was piled atop my head, and I was dressed in a simple white halter dress. The white set off my tan. I walked out of the bathroom and into our room; Oscura was sitting at his desk, bent over writing something.

I wrapped my arms around his neck, resting my chin on his shoulder and looking down at what he was working so hard on. It was his journal, which he quickly shut when he knew I was trying to read it. He spun around in his chair, pulling me onto his lap as I let out a small laugh. I wrapped my arms around his neck and he rested his forehead against mine, gazing into my eyes. When he spoke, his voice was deep, serious, no laughter in his eyes anymore.

"Alessia, love, today is the day. Today is the day we say goodbye, you know that right?"

I nodded, the laughter fading from face, the smile sliding off, becoming a thin line.

"I know Oscura, I'm ready."

We would see our son marry, and we would leave this earth. We had already said our goodbyes to one another. The previous night full of passion, love, romance, spending the night in each other's arms. We had started out at the pond, having a picnic, and then making our way back to the house, where the fire of passion consumed us. We had said goodbye to all of our friends, and now, we were going to see our son get married, and say goodbye to him.

A tear slipped out of my eye, falling down my cheek at the thought of saying goodbye to my baby after his wedding. Oscura kissed away my tear, holding me close to him. We stood up, straightening out our clothes and Oscura picked up his journal, staring at the worn out leather before meeting my eyes.

"Is that for Alex?"

"Yes, to explain everything. Just as Antonio had left for us."

I nodded, understanding that Alex would need to learn about his impending death years to come. I wiped away another tear at the thought of my baby's death. I couldn't take it, I finally walked out of the room, grabbing my jacket as I stepped onto the porch. Oscura came out and wrapped his arms around waist, resting his shoulder on my chin.

"Il mio piccolo colibrì, you knew this day was coming. You must be strong for Alex, be happy that we are able to see him wed."

I nodded, turning in Oscura's arm to hug him tightly. I pulled away, wiping away my tears before smiling.

"Come on babe, we're going to be late if we don't leave now."

Oscura chuckled at me, taking my hand as we walked to the car. He opened the door for me and I slid into the seat, staring out at the desolate streets. Soon we were headed towards the vineyard where Alexandro was getting married. We pulled into the vineyard an hour later and parked the car, walking into the large building. Oscura and I went our separate ways, he to talk to Alexandro, and I to Arianna. I walked past all the flowers, the gorgeous calli lilies put into ornate vases all around.

I walked into a room to the sounds of squeals and I couldn't help but smile. I slowly made my way through all of the girls and woman, pulling off my jacket before standing before Arianna and her mother. I said hello to Arianna's mother before turning to Arianna, smiling at her and pulling her into a hug.

"Today's the day Arianna, are you excited?"

She nodded, wiping away a few tears. I laughed and brushed away a tear she missed. I placed a soft kiss to her forehead before stepping back to look at her, to see her in her wedding dress. Her wedding dress was not a traditional white, but a dark midnight blue. The material clung to her chest, hugging her curves before flaring out at her hips, the material creating a large poof around her lower body and leading into a short train behind her. In her hand she clutched a bouquet of blue and white lilies, tied together with a black piece of lace. Her hair was piled atop her head, much like mine, except her dark black curls fell around her face in a few places. A small ornate silver crown sat upon her curls, holding her veil in place. I hugged her tightly before pulling away and smiling.

"I'm going to go in and sit. I can't wait to have you be my daughter in law Arianna, and I'm very glad that you're going to be Alexandro's wife. He always talks about you with a sparkle in his eye."

"Thank you Alessia, I'm so glad that he proposed! I love him more than my own life."

I smiled, before pushing my way through the women again and making my way down the hall, following the sounds of the laughing men. I pushed open a door and found all the men, their jackets strewn about, some drinks on the table, and Alex sitting on a couch next to Oscura talking. I walked in, ignoring the whistles from Alex's friends and sat down on Oscura's lap, smiling at Alex.

"Alexandro, I can't believe you're getting married! It seems like only yesterday you were running around the house in nothing but a diaper. Oh my little boy's all grown up."

I flung my arms around his neck, hugging him tightly as he laughed and hugged me back. A few of the guys chuckled at my diaper comment. Alex patted my back and whispered in my ear.

"Mom, I'll always be your little boy. I'm so nervous mom; I love this woman more than my own life! I can't believe I'm the lucky bastard who gets to call her my wife."

"I know you're nervous Alex, watch your language though! When your dad and I got married, I knew that we were going to live happily forever. When I found out I was going to be having you, I thought my heart would burst out of my chest. But I was so nervous that I would raise you wrong, or that I would screw up your life somehow. But your father stood by my side and helped, and I knew that nothing could get in the way of our love for each other, and for you. You'll be fine Alexandro, just remember, that this is the first day of the rest of your life."

I pulled back, standing up and smiling down at him. Alexandro's eyes shone with unshed tears as he stood up and hugged me again. Oscura stood up and wrapped his arms around the both of us, a tear falling down his cheek. I smiled as we all pulled away, wiping away my tears. Oscura ruffled Alex's hair and Arianna's father walked in.

"Places everyone! We begin in five minutes!"

I smiled at Alex and hugged him again, pulling away and letting Oscura hug him as well. Oscura grabbed my hand and we walked out of the room, walking into the main room and walking to the front pew. We sat down and I leaned into him, surveying the room. Lilies decorated nearly every surface, white lace and material draped across every possible hanging spot. Alex walked in from a side door and took his spot at the front of the room, looking over at us and winking. The guys filed in after him and stood next to him, crossing their arms over their chests and clasping their hands in front of them.

The music started up and everyone stood, turning back to watch as the flower girls, two of Arianna's little cousins, walked in. They were wearing blue frilly dresses, and carried little white wicker baskets full of rose peddles. Followed by the flower girls was another of Arianna's little cousins, a little boy of four who was carrying the ring. He smiled goofily as he made his way down the aisle. Next came the bridesmaids and the maid of honor, all wearing knee length blue dresses with bouquets of lilies. The next person to walk down the aisle was beautiful Arianna, holding onto her father's arm. I glanced back at Alexandro, wanting to see his face as he realized this was to be his wife for all of eternity. His face showed love and realization, as he figured out that he was one of the luckiest men alive. I smiled and turned back, watching Arianna make her way up the aisle. As she passed us, she smiled brightly, before stopping at the head of the aisle, turning towards her father. He lifted her veil and kissed her cheek before setting her hand in Alex's and the wedding began.

They said their vows and exchanged rings, then as the priest announced them man and wife, Alex swept Arianna off her feet, leaning her back as he kissed her deeply. I laughed, knowing that he learned that from his father, how to be a charmer. Oscura's arm snuck around my waist and gave it a gentle squeeze as he laughed at his son. We all laughed and the reception soon began.

-an hour or so later-

Oscura nudged me, telling me that I needed to say goodbye to Alex so we could leave, the sun was starting to set. I nodded and made my way onto the dance floor, cutting in on Alex and Arianna's mother. I smiled politely as Alex pulled me into his arms for a dance. The song changed to Aerosmith's 'I don't want to miss a thing' and I looked at Alex. I took a deep breath before speaking, holding back tears.

"Alex, I hope you and Arianna live a long and happy life. Please try to stay out of trouble though, I know you all too well."

Alex gave me a quizzical look, opening his mouth to ask me what the hell I was going on about. I shook my head, setting my fingers on his lips and continuing on with my goodbye.

"Take care of Arianna. I hope you have lots of children, although I'll never be able to see my grand babies. Wherever I go after my death, know that I'll always be watching over you and that I love you dearly Alexandro. I'm so proud of the man you have become."

"Mom.."

I hugged him tightly before whispering in his ear.

"Alex, today is the day I say goodbye to this life. There's no way to stop it and I'm ready, I love you so much Alexandro."

I pulled away and kissed his forehead before turning away and pushing through the crowd once more. I found Oscura near the exit and he hugged me.

"Are you ready love?"

I nodded, not trusting my voice. We slowly walked back to the car, getting in and pulling out of the vineyard. Oscura grabbed my hand, twining his fingers in mine and squeezing them. I smiled over at him and looked out my window, staring at the sunset. Just as the sun dipped below the horizon, we were hit head on by a drunk driver.
