You can change your name a hundred times,
But you're still the way you always were
Seems you tried to take the narrow way
In a lifetime filled with twists and turns

There is something to be said for those
Who've been dealt a losing hand at birth
But they beat the odds and win the game
To ascend and claim their own self-worth.

We are walking dreams, we touch the sky
When we look the Devil in the eye
All the truth we've learned, and realize
There is nothing left to fear but lies.

I could see the future, long ago
And it wasn't worth a second thought
Now I can't imagine any more
That this life, so precious, dearly bought

Has no depth or meaning once its gone
And I hope in vain for what may be.
Can the grave contain all that I was
If another keeps my memory?
