N/A so this is going to be the first story I have ever published for anyone to read. Please give me feed and most of all please enjoy
My name is Hailey. I'm standing over my
adopted dad's dead body. Of all the ways I thought of him to die,
I never thought of it happening like this.
Prologue
It all began when I moved to a little town named Helem. I lived with my mother, my sister Jenny, age 13, and my little brother James, age 6. Mitch, my adoptive dad, disappeared at the end of my sophomore year when I told my mom what he was doing to me.
It took me a while to actually tell someone what he was doing. My mom was finally happy; I didn't want to ruin it. When he got a job where he was gone a lot, my mom asked why I was never excited about him coming home and right then and there I told her why. "He molests me."
We ended up going to this safe place because it turned out Mitch threatened my mother that if she ever left him there would be some severe consequences.
Once my mother found a place for us to live, we left; planning to start a new and better life. New? Yes. Better? To an extent.
Chapter 1
I woke up to my phone going off, my alarm clock to get up for school. Growl. I climbed out of bed slowly walked to my own personal bathroom, which was attached to my bedroom, to turn on the radio. I then turned on the shower and let the water run while I went and got my brother James up.
I shook James, "Time to get up and get ready." He sat up slowly "Let me know when your ready to go."
"Alright" James said in return, rubbing his eyes.
I walked beck to my bathroom, undressed and got in the shower. I began to brush my teeth and my head began to race on and on like it always does.
Okay, gotta drop James off at school, then off to my own prison, Premid High. I hate school so much and I hate people. I couldn't tell you which one I hated more. My mother, always making me do everything. Taking care of the kids; it's her job, not mine! Always have to be on her ass about work I'm surprised she hasn't got fired yet. She has been so screwed up since everything happened. I understand but come on what she is doing is a little overboard. Well more then overboard. Like out in the middle of the ocean and the boat that is more then hours away. I hate doing everything for these kids but I also don't mind. Someone has to be here for them. I know its still not the same for them because I'm not their mother but I am the best they have right now and I have to get my mother in gear before I graduate and go to college.
I tried to lay off my thoughts and washed my hair with my Herbal Essences shampoo and conditioner and my body with my Axe body wash.
I grabbed a towel, wrapped it around myself and got out. I put on a pair of black Tripp pants. They looked like black jeans other than the zippers and chains everywhere. I then put on my rainbow studded belt and one of my Slipknot t-shirts. It was black with grey stripes. It has the big Slipknot S on the right side and the word Slipknot across the top of the shirt. I then put on one of my favorite necklaces; a skull with broken off guitar necks.
I went back into my room, sat down on my bed, grabbed my open pack of Newports off of my end table and lit one. Once I took the last drag of my cigarette, I put it out, and then put both my phone and the pack of smokes in my pocket and headed back to the bathroom.
I brushed through my medium length black hair with purple on the right side that hung over my eyes in a slant. I put on my dark black eyeliner and my 'midnight lust' perfume. I then heard a knock on my door.
"Come in." I said as I walked into my bedroom.
"I'm ready." James said.
I put on my Converse and my Tripp jacket. "Is Jenny up?" I asked while locking my door.
"Yea, she already left." James explained.
"Good, let's go." I said.
James and I got into my black Dodge Charger and headed out. James's school was about a mile away from our house. When we got there, I pulled up by the front doors and James got out. "Good luck." I said to him, dreading to head to my own prison.
When I reached my new prison, I pulled into the parking lot and parked fairly close to the doors. I grabbed my notebook and my 'sexy' pen and headed into the school.
When I walked in the doors and two girls were walking in my direction. "Move out of the way, freak." one of them said.
"Excuse me." I said angrily, "You can go around. I don't get bossed around and I don't move out of the way for people; especially people like you, who think they are all that and can tell people what to do." I pushed my way through the two and headed into the office.
When I walked in there was a girl talking to the secretary. She had pale skin. Her hair was short but not too short. It was black with blue bangs that hung in front of her beautiful blue eyes on a slant. She was skinny, like me, and was the essence of beauty. I quickly turned away when we made eye contact.
"Excuse me," I said to the secretary, "I'm new here. Where do I get my schedule?"
"I could help her." The girl informed.
"Umm" I stuttered, "Thanks." There was no way I was going to turn it down, not from her. We walked out the door, me nervous as ever.
"My name is Rayne." She explained
"Hailey." I said.
"That's a pretty name." She complimented.
"Thanks." I said, blushing a little bit.
We reached another office that was down the hall.
"This is Hailey, she is new." Rayne said. "She needs her schedule."
"What is your last name?" the secretary asked me.
"Xander." I said. She took out a folder and ruffled through it and handed me my schedule.
"Thanks." I said and we headed out the door.
"What number is your locker?" Rayne asked me.
"6066" I told her.
"Hey that's not far from mine." she said excitedly.
"Cool." I said calmly with a slight smile.
We walked 'til she stopped and opened her locker and grabbed a folder and a pen, "Your locker is a couple down. See you later." I watched as she walked away. I then headed to my locker it was exactly 6 lockers from Rayne's, (yes I counted, how lame is that) and right by a classroom I opened up my locker and put my jacket on the hook. I then noticed there was a teacher sitting right outside the door, trolling for 'bad kids'. Lovely.
She gave me an evil glare. I rolled my eyes and start to head to class. The teacher stopped me, "We aren't going to have any problems, are we?" she asks.
God, I hate teachers who judge you by what you wear. "Eh, that depends." Is all I say and walk away studying my schedule so I could find my first class of the day.
My first two classes, Theatre Games and Art, we did basically the same thing; sat and listened to the teacher talk about what we were going to do while we were in the class. Boring. Next health. Gross!
I walked in the room and sat in the corner by the wall so I could lean back into it. One of the girls from earlier came over by me. "That's were I sit every year."
"That's nice. Not anymore." I say cocky.
"Move." She says. "Do you not know who I am?"
"Nope, nor do I care. Have you not learned from last time?" I inform her. "I'm not moving and that's that." A sweet voice stops me in my tracks.
"Leave her alone, Sasha." it was Rayne.
"Okay, dyke." Sasha says. "I'll leave you and your girlfriend alone." Sasha emphizing girlfriend then walked away before I could say anything. Rayne sat down in the desk next to me.
I wanted to go off; tell her I could take care of myself but I couldn't will the words came out. Her beauty was making me speechless. I tried to take my eyes off of her. After a minute I finally was able to. I looked down on my desk hoping she didn't notice.
"Hey, don't mind her. Don't let her get to you." Rayne spoke.
"I'm not. It's very hard to do that to me." I informed her "At least, other then pissing me off and me punching them in their face."
"Alright." She said with a giggle "So how are things going for you?"
"Alright I guess." I said, "Listened to teachers talk, made three enemies' already, one being a teacher. Weird looks from people in the halls and in class, which I'm used to."
"Nice" she giggled. "People piss me off. They're stupid and hate everything that's different and extremely annoying."
"I agree." I said as the teacher walked in.
I glanced over at Rayne and stared every once in a while as I was doodling. She was writing behind her books. Was she drawing? Writing a poem? A story? Whatever she doing, she was definitely doing it in secret. I caught eye contact with her once and she smiled at me.
The class bell rang and I picked up my stuff. Rayne said my name and handed me a folded up piece of paper, what must have been what she was doing during class, and hurried out the door. I stuck it in my pocket and headed to my next .
As I sat in the gym ignoring the boring talk about the rules, I took out the folder piece of paper in my pocket. It read
Hailey,
So... I hate it when teachers talk all hour especially if it's like rules and what we are going to do. Come on. This class should not be required we all know about sex and drugs and whatever else. So before I ramble on anymore I'll get to what I really want to say...
There was a couple sentences scribbled out that I wish I could have been able to tell what they said and then it said;
We should hang out sometime. Here's my number 555-6054
-Rayne
I grabbed my phone out of my pocket, opened my address book and put in all caps RAYNE. The gym teachers took turns babbling on and on repeating themselves a couple times. The bell rang and it was finally time for lunch. Smokey time!
I went straight to my car, grabbed a cigarette, lit it and took off out of the parking lot as fast as I could, which was as fast as a snail do to all the student related traffic.
I parked by a nearby park and smoked while texting my best friend Alex informing him on all the Rayne stuff and what I should do. He says that she is so into me but I don't believe him. When I finished smoking, I headed back to school to finish my day off study hall, Dark side of History, and photography.
I decided to sit in the back, as always, in Darkside of History. I opened up my notebook and started to draw my future tattoo idea I have, so far its barbed wire with blood dripping down. The class bell rang and the teacher began to introduced himself and guess what, Rayne walks in late and hurries to the open seat in front of me, me getting a big whiff of the most amazing smell in the world. With out being able to keep my mind off of her, I decided to write her back saying;
Rayne,
Sure I would love to hang out some time. Here is my number as well, 555-6626
-Hailey
What I really wanted to tell her is that I liked her as in being my girlfriend and tell her how amazing she looks and smells, but I was afraid of being rejected and being upfront like that is just not my style.
I folded it up and tapped Rayne on the shoulder. She turned around, smiled, and I handed her the note. She took it from me, and I could hear her unfolding it and then take out her phone. The bell rang fifteen minutes later.
Rayne and I didn't say a word to each other the rest of the day do to not seeing each other. When the end of the school bell rang in photography, I headed to my car and headed over to James' school to get him.
When he came out of the school he didn't have a good look on his face at all. He climbed into the car, "I hate it here!" Was all he had to say.
"What happened?" I asked.
"I don't want to talk about it." He said. I didn't push it and headed home.
When I pulled into the drive way I spoke, "Remember that I am here for you to talk to, you know that."
"I know." He said.
