All the way through first period Lyra would draw sketches of wolves on the tops and borders of the pages in her work book. When it came to the end of the lesson, Lyra could barely read the notes she had written due to the over flow of wolves on the page. She thanked the Gods that she sat at the back and no one was able to look at her work. She had an hour break to do some "Independent study" yeah like that was what she was going to do. She planned on doing what she normally did which is to go behind the school into the forest strip down and go for a run. Lyra rounded the corner to her locker so she could put her books away until she came back, what she saw for some reason made her heart feel like it had crumbled upon its self. At the locker just next to hers she saw Nate leaning against it and pressed full force against him was a girl.

This girl must have been new as Lyra cannot recall ever seeing her before, or smelling her scent. Lyra was seeing red, but why it's not like her and Nate were anything, were they even friends?

He is ours; protect him from that…thing. A voice from within purred in Lyra's head

'No he is not, he never will be. If I was his mate surely he would have said something by now' she argued with herself.

I don't care if he has not announced it he is OURS and she is on our territory. Lyra was snapped out of the discussion with her self at the sound of growling, she looked around her to see she was getting weird stares. That's when she realized she was on the one growling. GO and get her off our mate NOW! The voice inside of her yelled, without hesitation Lyra walked up to Nate and the girl.

"Get the FUCK off of him!" Lyra yelled as she violently shoved the girl down the hall, she must of used a little too much of her strength because the girl skidded down the hall so fast, the others must of though she was shot out of a cannon.

Lyra looked down the hallway in shock, what had she done? Why had she done it? She raised her head and her shocked expression met the face of Nate who looked both confused, shocked and… relived? Before anything could be said she ran out of the doors towards the forest.

He couldn't stop thinking about her, he was just sitting there in lesson and al of a sudden he zoned out and his day dreamed consisted of him and Lyra rolling around in wolf form, licking and nipping at each other. He could feel a grin spread across his face at the thought, but as soon as it appeared it was gone with the sound of a ruler smacking off his desk. He shook his head and looked up at his teacher.

"Nice of you to return from la, la land." The teacher gave a disapproving look then returned to talking to the class. Nate looked around him feeling all eyes on him, when he scanned the room all the eyes avoided his gaze immediately, apart from one girl. She locked eyes with him and he could tell she was undressing him with her eyes.

Idiot does she not know I already have a mate? a voice spoke in Nate's head. He grunted in approval and turned his eyes away from her.

'She must be new I've never seen her before, and she didn't turn away when I looked at her.'

At the end of class Nate thought he would wait for Lyra at her locker since they both had "independent Study" whilst Lyra took a run at this point, Nate found more peaceful to stroll through the woods in human form. The bell rang for class to end and Nate was the first one out of the class. He placed himself in front of Lyra's locker and leaned back. Closing his eyes he let his mind wander to her smell the feel of her hands on his hips, her smile, everything about her. He thought about her so much that it even became real he felt her hand on his chest; he sniffed the air to catch the watermelon scent that just drifted off of her. But when he sniffed the air he caught the smell of coconut. He opened his eyes and came to meet the same pair of eyes as before in class.

He was about to tell her to get the fuck off, or at least shove her away when the job was done for him. "Get the FUCK off of him!" then the weight of the girl was off of him. He looked down and Lyra and God was he glad that she had done that, his eye travelled down the hallway to see the girl much to far away for a mortal to push a person. His eyes then came back to Lyra who looked to be just as confused and shocked as him, but he was way more relived than anything.

"Lyra?" He called, but she was gone, he quickly followed in the direction he knew she would have taken to reach the forest.

As soon as she hit the borderline of the forest she threw off her clothes and transformed, she didn't care any more if anyone knew she just had to getaway. Where once stood a 5 ft 4" girl with long brunette hair and big green eyes now stood a dark chocolate wolf, it was so dark it almost looked black but because of the way the light shimmered through its fur you could see glimpses of brown. This made the green eyes of the beast stand out more, within a second the wolf was off running through the trees so gracefully yet fast.

Snow still lay on the ground, it was only a thin layer but Lyra loved the feeling of it beneath her paws as she ran, this was her favorite season as she loved the feeling of the cold under her paws, the sound of the crunching when she padded around just made her want to run all the more and never stop.

What was she even thinking when she pushed that girl? That's right she wasn't… Its not her business if Nate wants to go round with a human, she could have been his mate. His mate? Oh no what had she done, if that was his mate then he was going to be very pissed at her, this spurred Lyra on to run faster.

Where to run? She could stay in the forest and hide out here in wolf form. Home was an option too, no one would be home her mother would most likely be at her office. Home was the best bet, Nate wouldn't think about barging into her house uninvited. Lyra maneuvered her paws towards the direction of home. The border line came into view where the back of the estate should start. Just a few more minutes and she would be there, she pushed herself harder to get there sooner. The light through the trees was getting bigger and brighter she was so close.

"Shit!" Nate reached the edge of the forest to find the discarded clothes of Lyra. He made sure no one was looking or even around before he picked up Lyra's clothes and put them in to his rucksack; he stripped off his own clothes and put them into the bag. Once the bag was sealed he looked around again before beginning to transform.

Once the transformation was complete he scooped up the bag in his teeth and began running. He had longer legs than Lyra and more powerful which allowed him to run faster than her, if he pushed him self he could catch up to her.

The black wolf moved speedily through the forest jumping and dodging tree branches. Every now and again the beast would sniff the air and change direction ever so slightly towards the direction of home. What was he going to say to her? He couldn't just blurt it out could he? 'Lyra you're my mate' Yeah he can see that going well, she would flip, go crazy, run away from him…well she'd already done all that, but that was for something totally different.

He raised his nose to the hair and took in a lung full of air. She was close; he'd managed to get ahead of her a little, this way he could cut her off before she could reach her destination. The border line into the back of the terrace was coming in to view; Nate turned his head slightly to the left and saw that Lyra had picked up speed. Perfect he could cut her off easily now, spurring him self on he got just al little further ahead and jumped on to a giant rock that marked the borderline for the estate, when Lyra approached closer he jumped off the rock and collided with the brown wolf with white paws.

NO! she was so close to escaping until she was pounced upon by the one person she didn't want to see. She lifted her body off the floor and looked up at the black wolf, he was looking at her with what could be classed as a smug look, it was hard to tell if a wolf was looking smug but, she was sure that look he had, was smug.

A bag was chucked in front of her, she looked at the bag and then towards Nate with a curious look. Then before she could register what was happening Nate was reverting back into his human form, within seconds there was a naked well sculptured boy.. no man in front of her and Lyra was not complaining.

"Lyra… Lyra" she was too busy ogling the body in front of her, to listen to him. "Lyra!" that got her attention she had never heard him say anything in that kind of voice before, he didn't just sound mad he also sounds irritated. "Transform back so we can have a proper conversation. Your clothes are in the bag."

Lyra began to transform not caring if he saw her naked, when some of the pack ran together they saw each other naked, except Lyra can never seem to remember running with Nate… ever. She stood up to her full height and noticed that Nate had turned around.

"Why did you come after me?" She spoke quietly to him. "What about that girl? Shouldn't you be with her?" she tried to hide the jealousy and anger from her voice but it just wasn't possible, where did this anger and jealousy even come from?

"Why would I be with her when my Ma… my friend is in trouble" he almost let it slip, he hoped that she didn't catch on.

His back was still facing her and Lyra couldn't help but notice the broadness of his shoulders, the muscles on his back where almost as impressive as the ones on the front. Yet again Lyra was not completely listening to the conversation. "Sorry, what?"

"I said that you were in trouble so I came to see if you were ok." His voice sounded soft, not as harsh as it had before…

"Why don't you turn around and talk to me, it's not very nice to talk to your back." She had unconsciously floated towards him and her small hand was on his bare shoulder. She felt the slightest shiver run under her hand where she had touched him.

He turned around and looked straight in to her eyes, his eyes were not the shade she had seen earlier this was darker, as if I was filled with a swirl of emotions, his eyes gazed down at her still naked form and never before had she felt to self conscious about her body. He grabbed her hand and tugged her non to gently towards him. She didn't mind though if anything it made her blood flow faster and warmer with excitement. Her head was against his hard chest and the thought that he was still naked too sent shivers up her spine and her heart to beat twice as fast. She felt him nuzzle his face into her hair, he just stood there hold him her against him, naked.

Lyra closed her eyes taking in his scent, god he smelt good, she just wanted to kiss him all over… taste him. She didn't very slowly she shifted her head a little and placed a very small but sweet kiss on his chest. She removed her lips shocked at her actions, as soon as her lips where removed there was a very low growl coming from within Nate's chest, she looked up at his face so see that his eyes were darker and a very serious look was upon his face. Moving her hands up from her side she placed her hand onto the place she had just kissed. Leaning in to him again she placed her lip on his skin once more never taking her eyes off his face, when her lips were planted she say his eyes lows and the growling stopped.

Nate pulled her lips from his chest only for him to place her chin in his grasp he pulled her face to his and kissed her. The kiss was not gentle but it was not harsh either, he bit her bottom lip to gain access in to her mouth, which she granted without a second thought, there tongues danced amongst each other until both Nate and Lyra could not breath. Nate was the first to pull away but he kept Lyra at eye level with him. He looked in to her now forest green eyes and without blinking he spoke.

"Mine"

I'm aware that this took a very long time to finally update and I'm very sorry about that. I had most of this written I just didn't know where I wanted to take this story. It was originally meant to be a One Shot but as my friend pointed out it was too long. Please review because those of you who did thank you so much for the support. And if any of you have a good name for this story please tell me, because so far I've got : Something Unexpected. So please tell me of any ideas you have XD
