We ran down the dark tunnel together. His hand clutched mine tightly as he pulled me around a bend. For a moment we were bathed with light then we passed the hole and the semi-darkness swelled around us again. His golden hair gleamed dully as his head turned to glance at me then past us where we could hear the pounding of footsteps of the guards chasing us. My head turned to look as my heart thumped in my chest with fear, fighting to get past my flesh. All I saw was darkness and all I could think about was the fact that I didn't want to marry a man I didn't love for my family and suffer for the rest of my life because of it. My eyes turned back in front in time to him jerk his head to the left. I followed him down the turning.

Suddenly we stumbled into a small room. In the center, was a large circle with two more of equal size on each side. Light streamed down on the center one and as we stood in the shadows, pressed against one and another and panting, while we listened to the sound of pounding feet past us. Then we were engulfed in quiet. He waited a few more minutes before letting me step away from the wall. He walked around the perimeter of the room, spiraling closer and closer to the light with every step until he stood just out of it. Slowly, very slowly, he stepped into it. When nothing happened, I let out the breath I had been holding and went to join him. His hand curled around mine, leaving a trail of fire where he touched me. I wondered if he felt the same about me. If my touch sent flames bursting through his skin. As my heart beat faster and faster, I wanted it to last forever. His face lit up with a smile as he reeled me in and we pressed against each other in perfect harmony. For a moment, we just stared at each other. Then we were kissing.

The way his body bent with mine was almost exact. The trail of fire traveled down my body and continued past his hands curving around my hips. His soft lips molded mine to match his in perfect symmetry. Our arms were around each other in a death grip that loosened as we parted. His blue eyes smoldered with a flame I found hard to match. With my hand, I traced his jaw up to his ear and pushed his hair out of his face. His arms moved to my shoulders and his hand mirrored mine but instead of following it up to my forehead, his outlined my ear. One moment we were in silence and the next we could hear the voices of the guards. Our grip on each other tightened and he bent down to put his mouth close to my ear.

"Whatever happens," he whispered passionately. "I love you."

In his velvety voice, that sounded like the most wonderful thing in the world. His hands gripped my shoulders tighter and I wrapped my arms around his broad chest.

"'Your arms are my castle; your heart is my sky.'" I quoted to him. "I love you more then anything."

We drew apart for a moment as the voices grew closer and closer, we could hear them coming to the small turnoff. Then we were together again. My dark blue eyes met his lighter ones and we were leaning closer to each other when something flashed by to crash into the wall behind us. Instinctively, he stepped in front of me while we gripped hands. Instead of letting him, I walked around and stood tall and proud by his side, not afraid to face the fate we both knew was in storage for each other. The guards fanned out in front of the entrance to the room, guns held at the ready. He looked at me and I looked at him. We stepped toward each other and gripped each others hands tighter then anything we had held on to before. That was all we had time for before something blasted us apart and for ten seconds, I could fly.

I landed on my back and the breath exploded out of me. I saw him land beside me on his stomach. His eyes opened and our hands were reaching for each other before my eyes closed and the darkness overwhelmed me.
