All throughout these floodplains

have I seen rivers flood their banks.

The dams and floodgates are unmaintained

and water flows from the flow's flanks.

Cracks grow into concrete walls, expanding by the day

and rivulets grow streams throughout the fields;

storm clouds release a deluge of watery gray,

and the torrents will not yield.

This overflow will not recede

or dry out with the sun.

Torrential tears flow past the reeds

and having to collect them is not much fun.
