Darkness
Chapter 1
*Kathryn's point of view*
Everything has changed. There is no more laughter, no more screams of joy, and no more happiness.
I walk down the pathway to my classroom. A scream echoes through here now. It's the scream of the girl who was murdered. When I first heard the scream, I asked my friend Alice if she could hear it, she said she couldn't hear a thing.
Now I know that only I can hear the scream that will forever echo through the walkway.
I look up at the sky, grey clouds are closing around the sun, blocking out its rays. The first drop of rain lands on my forehead and rolls down my nose. The next one, on my cheek, just under my eye.
I wipe it away, but not before I realize it was warm, wasn't rain meant to be cold. I was crying. I didn't try to stop the tears from falling; I just stood there and watched the rain mix with them.
My knee's buckle and I fall to the ground, my body curls into a tight ball as my tears fall freely.
Chapter 2
*Tina's point of view*
I look around me, there's no talking going on. The students are too shocked to talk, even after the body of the young girl was taken away three days ago.
She was so young, only just started high school. Her blues eyes would sparkle with joy no more, she would never twirl her hair when she was nervous or smile as she got a question right.
I look at the empty desk in the third row, it belonged to Kathryn Stevens. I'm worried about her; she has never missed one of my classes.
I see Alice look behind her with a worried look on her face. She looks up at me. I shake my head, I do not know where she is, but I have an idea.
I walk over to the teacher aid and tell her that I'll be back in a few minutes. I cast one last look at Alice; she looks me in the eye. Some how she knows I'm going to look for her.
I leave the classroom and descend the stairs. I slowly walk to the area where the girl had lost her life dreading what I will find.
Chapter 3
*Alice's point of view*
Where was she? She was never late to one of Misses classes. I look at the clock, it's quarter past one. I look back at my writing and try to focus on the words, but they became a big blur to me. I look behind me, I'm worried about her. I slowly move my head to look up at the front of the room, Miss is looking at me.
I look at her and dart my eyes to her desk. She shakes her head; she doesn't know where she is either. She walks over to the teacher aid and whispers something to her. As the other lady nods her head, I realize how much she cares for her.
She looks behind her and looks me in the eye; she's going to look for her. I smile softly. As she walks out of the room, rain clouds block out the sunshine.
I look out the window and see a single rain drop slide down the glass.
Chapter 4
*Tina's point of view*
The sight before my eyes was not something I thought I would ever see, and I never want to see it again.
Kath fell to the ground and curled into a tight ball. The tears had stained her pale face.
I jog over to her and crouch down next to her. Her dark hair is covering her face, I lift my hand and lightly brush it away. She was shaking and she was so pale. She looks up at me, her eyes were haunted; the usual twinkle was all but gone.
"Can you hear it?" She whispers, so only I can hear, even though we're alone.
I nod my head; I can hear the scream echoing off the walls.
She closes her eyes, only to open them again straight away. She looks around her; her eyes darts left to right, high and low. Finally she comes to a stop, just above my shoulder.
I look behind me and see the girl, her uniform was torn and bloody, she had a gash on her cheek and her lip was split.
I turn to look at Kath; what ever colour she had before was gone. I put my hand on her cheek and force her to face me.
"Kathy, look at me." She looks at me for a second, before she shuts her eyes.
Chapter 5
*Kathryn's point of view*
I feel someone brush the hair off my face. I slowly lift my eyes to look at the person and see Miss looking at me.
"Can you hear it?" I whisper.
She nods her head and I close my eyes, but I open them again. Someone's here with us. I look around and catch a glimpse of blue, I follow its movements, it keeps showing up behind things and on roves until the girl's standing behind Miss.
She looks behind her and stares straight at the girl. She turns and looks back at me, but I can't seem to look away from the girl, she was so young.
She forces me to look at her, but I keep looking at the figure behind her.
"Kathy, look at me." She pleads.
I look at her and close my eyes. I re-open them and look over her shoulder.
"She's gone." I whisper to myself.
I look back at Miss and start crying. She pulls me against her lovingly and brushes my hair.
She whispers in my ear. "It's ok, it's over now."
As my tears fall faster, the rain gets heavier, as if I control it. My tears soak through her shirt, but she doesn't care, she just holds onto as I cry. In the arms of my lover, I grieve for the girl I never knew.
