Ch.1 - Meet Your New Roomie

Reece Anderson was many things. He was funny, popular, drop dead gorgeous, kicked ass at soccer and anything that revolved around competition, carefree. And he was my best friend.

We were close, super close. The kind of friends that occasionally held hands, laid on the couch together, slept at each others house without having our parents think twice about it, because anything romantic would just never happen.

People who didn't know us, usually made the mistake of assuming we were dating. But everyone at school and who knew us at all, knew that that was just right off the mark.

"Carson."

We were so different, yet so alike at the same time, if that made any sense. He was popular, adored by almost every female at school, out going, and charismatic. Whereas I was more of a conserved person. He felt the need to be around somebody at all moments, whereas I didn't mind being by myself, and keeping to myself. Don't get me wrong, it's not like I didn't have friends. But I liked to call them school friends. Because even though I was always welcome to sit with Reece and the rest of them at lunch, I would never actually call any of them to come over my house for the night.

"Carse?"

Actually, now that I think about it, the girls probably didn't even like me that much, but used me to get to Reece. Some days I'd sit with them and not participate much in their conversation. But other days, I was perfectly fine with just sitting by myself and reading. Well, by myself until Reece saw, then he'd come over and suddenly bring all attention upon me.

He was always telling me that every guy in the school wanted to get with me, how he always heard them talking about it in the locker rooms. But I always ignored him and told him to shut up.

"Carson."

I guess the reason Reece didn't annoy me was because he wasn't like the rest of his friends. Sure he liked to carry on, and hang out and do stuff that guys do. But when it came to messing around like the rest of them did with girls, he didn't. He wasn't the kind of guy to bring a random girl home for the night, or take advantage of all the girls that fawn over him.

That was just Reece.

"Carson!" He drew out his voice, purposely making it go all whiny. "You're not listening to me."

I rolled my eyes and kept them glued to the laptop screen in front of me. "Yes I am..." I muttered distantly. "You're going to be captain of the soccer team this year and, stuff..." I trailed off.

He huffed and walked over towards me, pulling my laptop away from me. "Hey!" I snapped, reaching for it but having it pulled away from my grasp.

"I'm here. You have to give me your undivided attention," he smiled.

Reece had always been like this. I'm pretty sure our first time meeting each other, when we were five, went something like this: "Hi, I'm Reece. My Mom says that our parents are friends. That means we're friends now. So hurry up and come play with me."

I sighed, and laid back into my pillows, catching a glance at my calendar, practically yelling that there were only two more days until school started back up for a new year. School wasn't exactly my favourite thing. But was it really anybody's favourite thing? Doubt it.

"Yes Reece, you're going to be captain. Stop acting like it's a surprise," I replied flatly. "You've been like the best player since you were a freshman."

He smiled triumphantly. "I have been haven't I?" He ran a hand through his dark hair and grinned at me. "Anyway, the teams going to kick ass this year. All the way to State championships."

I decided not to point out that they won State championships every year, so it really wasn't that interesting anymore. Well, not to me at least. Our school is a very sport orientated one though.

"Yeah, you and your jackass friends," I grinned, waiting for his reaction.

He frowned and nudged my leg. "Come on Carse, they're not all that bad. Plus they like you, if you'd give any of them a chance. You're too pretty to be going all anti-social on me."

I rolled my eyes at him. "Yes they are. I don't even know why you're friends with them, you're nothing like them. They've always got random sluts hanging off their arms. Having sex all the time. But you don't. Why?" I eyed him curiously, although I was pretty sure I already knew the answer.

"We've had this conversation a ton of times, Carson," he merely shrugged his shoulders. "And I don't know."

I sat up, an amused grin playing across my face. "Oh, I think you do. Does it have anything to do with the fact that you're in love?" I gave him a cheeky smile.

"Shut up," he muttered, gently pushing my shoulder so that I fell back into my pillows again, only causing me to laugh harder. "How is it that you even ended up knowing about that?"

I smiled and shrugged. In the younger ages of thirteen and fourteen, Reece had always been a harmless flirt. So imagine my surprise on the day he hesitantly let it slip that he was falling in love. But as soon as I asked more about it, his mouth was basically welded shut. Apparently it didn't matter because nothing would ever be done about it.

"You've brought her up here and there," I smiled. "So who is she?"

"You think after all those times of pestering me, I'm going to tell you now, Carson?"

"Yes."

"Well I'm not."

I sat back up again and put a pleading look on my face. He wasn't looking too convinced, but I'd try anyway. "Come on, Reece. You tell me everything. Does Liam know? Because I swear to God if he does, then we're not friends anymore," I crossed my arms haughtily. And when I crossed my arms, that meant game over.

He laughed, and shook his head. Liam was Reece's... boy best friend; I guess you could call him that. I refused to think that he was a closer friend than me. To be honest, he was kind of a total asshole. But somehow the boy had grown on me.

"No, he doesn't know. Nobody knows and it's not important," he tried changing the subject. "You just hate the fact that there's something you don't know about me, whereas I know everything about you."

I scrunched up my face in disagreement. "Not true," I said stubbornly.

"Oh yeah?" he challenged. "So you're assuming I don't know that you're still a virgin?"

I blushed furiously. Well that's embarrassing.

"Reece!" I snapped, pushing away from him, and crossing my arms over my chest. I wasn't a girl who never kissed a boy, but I didn't have sex either. I mean, I hardly even dated, so of course I wasn't having sex. Now he was making me paranoid.

"It's not a bad thing Carse," he said simply. He was staring down at his cell phone screen, reading a text, and then glanced up at me.

"Whatever. Let's not talk about it."

He smiled, sensing my bad mood, and reached forward. He grabbed my shoulder and pulled me towards him to hug me against his chest. "Come on, don't get all mad at me. I'm just messing with you."

"Tell me who you're in love with and I won't be."

"No."

I sighed and pushed away from him. I knew I was lucky to have Reece though. He was the only person I could really open up to, and be myself around. I just didn't feel as comfortable around other people as I did with him. It was hard to even really remember meeting him. I just knew that he was always there, since before we even started school. He just was.

Before I could push more on the subject, I heard our names being called from downstairs. His mother yelled for us to come down, even though we were at my house.

I glanced up at him. "I didn't know your Mom was here?"

"Neither did I," he shrugged, grabbing my hand and pulling me up off of the bed with him.

Our parents spent almost as much time at each others houses as Reece and I did. They were basically how Reece and I met in the first place. Both of our parents were doctors. All four of them met at med school, became best of friends, fell in love, etc. Ridiculously cliché, I know. So I guess when they both had kids, it was just a given that we were destined to be best friends. Keep the trend going, yeah?

The two of us walked down the staircase which led to the front entrance of my house. Reece purposely tripped me, then grabbed me at the last second, laughing. I turned around and punched him in the arm, something that he had taught me himself, in case I was ever in need for self defence. Which I doubted I ever would be.

We went into the living room, where our parents were all sitting. Reece's Dad was here too, sitting next to his wife, with his arm happily thrown around her shoulder.

"What's up?" I said upon entering, looking back and forth between the two sets of parents. Reece leaned against the doorframe next to me, his hands in his pockets.

"We have to talk," my Mom said. Reece and I both glanced at each other nervously.

"If this is about the car..." he trailed off nervously. Just last week, while Reece was pulling into his garage, me in the passenger seat, we hadn't really been paying attention to driving, and had accidentally scratched the side of his Dad's Suburban.

"What?" his parents both chorused at the same time.

"Never mind."

"So what is it?" I said, wanting to steer the conversation away from that misfortunate event.

"Well, Carson," my father sat up a bit straighter. He was in his early forties, same with Mom, but they still looked young, and were wrinkle free. I didn't know how, since they both worked so often at the hospital. "You remember how your Mother and I talked to you about that medical job overseas that we were thinking about?"

My eyebrows automatically scrunched together, "Oh, you mean that little tiny one where you'd be gone for almost the whole school year? That one?" I recounted a bit bitterly. "What about it?"

Apparently working at the hospital itself wasn't enough for my parents. Now they wanted to go over seas and help out there. They were such a save the world couple.

"Well it's been approved. And we're going for certain," he nodded. Mom shifted nervously next to him, and smiled at me hesitantly.

I stared at them blankly for a moment, and then I suddenly felt sick. "So we're moving? To Africa?" I said a bit frantically. Reece pushed himself off the wall and stepped closer to me as the words left my mouth.

"No, she can't move..." he trailed off, looking back and forth between my parents.

"No Carson. It's not permanent; we'll only be gone for about nine months." I noticed the way he put emphasis on the 'we' part. "You'll be staying here sweetie," he finished off.

My eyebrows shot up. "I'm going to be living here by myself? I mean, I know you guys think I'm responsible, but I'm really not. I mean, I can't even—"

"No," he shook his head again. "You'll be living with Reece and his family."

"If that's okay with you of course," Mom added in quickly, giving me a worried glance.

I abruptly shut up, and shifted my eyes between my parents to his parents, and then to Reece, who was looking at me just as shocked as I was. Well this was a lot to drop on me. I kind of wished this was just about Reece and I hitting his Dad's car.

"And it'll work out well," his Mom cut in, now looking at Reece. "Your father and I are starting new placements at the hospital, and we'll be working mostly backshifts, and with being there all the time anyway, we'll barely be home except for when you're in school."

"And we hate the thought of the two of you being alone the whole year," his Dad cut in. This conversation was definitely rehearsed; I could tell by the way they were perfectly finishing each others sentences.

"You wouldn't...mind?" I asked them. "Me just, staying in your house all year?"

His mother raised his eyebrows at the two of us and smiled. "Are you kidding me? I know that if we leave Reece alone in that house that he'll end up starving himself, and wearing dirty clothes the whole year. You're the perfect person to take care of him. And you can stay in the guestroom, there's lots of room, it'll be no problem."

I still wasn't exactly forming words. This was all such surprising news to me. One second, Reece is pushing me down the stairs. Next, surprise! We're house mates.

"So I mean, if you're okay with it sweetie?" Mom said again. I knew how much this job meant to my parents, and it wasn't like living with Reece would be a bad thing, we practically lived with each other anyway.

"Well, I... I guess so," I shrugged.

"And you're okay with putting up with her for a little while Reece?" my Dad grinned at him.

"Hell yeah!" he smiled brightly. His mother frowned and shook her head at him. "I get to live with my best friend for the year," he threw his arm around my shoulder. "Sounds sweet."

I shrugged away from him and kept my eyes on my parents. "When are you leaving?" I asked, still a bit taken aback.

Mom looked to Dad before looking back at me. "Tomorrow morning..."

My shoulders dropped. "You waited this long to tell me?" I frowned.

"Well we weren't sure what we were going to decide, because we didn't want to leave you here alone. But they suggested you stay with them, and you and Reece are so close anyway that we figured it was a good idea."

"Oh."

"We'll be back before your graduation and everything, we won't miss anything important," Dad assured.

"Yeah I know, I'm just... surprised," I shrugged.

"Jeez Carse," Reece nudged my side. "Act happy. You're living with me. That's like every girl's dream," he smirked.

"Be quiet, Reece," his mother smiled. "But it's settled," she stood up off the couch and clapped her hands together. Once that was all said and done, Reece's father sat up straighter and raised an eyebrow at his son.

"Reece, what did you say about the car?" he asked. We both glanced at each other nervously.

"Nothing. Let's go pack, Carson."

Mom and Dad left on a plane the next morning. Saying goodbye was sad of course, but I knew they were doing something that they really loved, and soon enough, they'd be back. So I tried not to make too big a deal of it.

But right now, I was leaning against Reece's car, letting him do all the labour.

"Jesus Carson, how much stuff did you bring?" he asked, wiping his forehead off as he laid his eyes upon another carload of my stuff that he had been lugging up and down the stairs for me.

"I'm going to be living here for the whole school year. What did you expect me to bring, a toothbrush and pyjamas?" I reasoned with him.

"That'd be easier to carry."

I rolled my eyes and nudged him to hurry up, letting him know that this was the last load. He narrowed his bright blue eyes at me before doing what I said. Reece only lived about five or ten minutes away from me, but I didn't really see myself going back to my house for anything, so I just took everything now. It was easier that way.

He took the last box out of my car, and kicked his front door open as he walked ahead of me. His house was similar to my own. It was pretty big, had a big staircase as soon as you walked in. Big kitchen, good for cooking, which I would probably be doing for the most part unless we wanted to starve.

I followed him up the stairs, and into my new room where he dropped the box onto the floor, along with the rest of them. The guest room—my room, was directly across from his. And both of our beds were directly in the doorway, so if I sat on my bed, I could see directly into his room, and see him sitting on his own. Not that we'd be sitting on our beds staring at each other though.

He sighed and ran a hand through his hair, then followed my gaze. "Well look at that," he grinned, thinking the same thing as me. "You'll be the last thing I get to see before I go to sleep at night. How nice," he smiled.

I rolled my eyes and smiled at him. "Sure. Alright, get out so I can unpack then." I turned around to face him.

"You could at least thank me for lugging all your shit up here, Carse," he eyed me suggestively, then tapped his cheek with his pointer finger and smiled.

I rolled my eyes and smiled, leaning up and pecking him on the cheek, "Thank you for lugging all my stuff, Reece."

"Not a problem, pretty girl," he smiled brightly, and then left for the door. At the last second, he stopped himself and turned around to smirk at me. "So I figure, now that we're living together and stuff. That you can just walk around in your underwear if you want?" he shrugged.

I scoffed and ignored him, and started to unpack. He winked, and then left me to my privacy. Ever since Reece hit puberty, he had been at it with the suggestive comments. I knew he was joking and after a while just learned to brush them off as he shot them out.

Once he was gone, I turned to my mess of boxes that needed unpacking. This was going to be a tiresome process. School started tomorrow, and I was hoping to get a good night's sleep, but at the rate of all of this stuff, I wouldn't be getting to bed until late. I should have forced Reece to stay up here and help me unpack.

Deciding to just get it over with now, I grabbed the boxes that contained my clothes. I was totally obsessive about my room being organized, and not a mess. Completely opposite of Reece. I looked across the hall to his room which practically had clothes falling out of the door.

His parents had insisted that I make myself completely comfortable in the room, to bring my whole bed set and everything if I wanted. So I did. I pulled out the comforter and sheets that I had brought, and spread them out over my new bed, which was looking quite comfy right about now.

Ignoring my desire to curl up and go to sleep, I continued to unpack. Once every article of clothing was put away, my laptop was set on the desk, my pillows set on my bed, and everything else was in order. I finally took a breath and stepped back for a moment. It oddly looked very similar to my actual room, which was good I guess.

I checked the clock and saw that it was only eight o'clock. Reece's parents had left for work a couple of hours ago, and I found it strange that he wasn't up here lingering around.

I grabbed an oversized sweater and threw it on, wrapping it tightly around my body. The huge gray sweater, with my baggy gray sweat pants made me look like a huge gray blob. I stared at myself in the mirror for a second, then shrugged before slowly walking downstairs to see what Reece was up to.

He was sprawled out across the couch, eyes glued to the TV screen, with Liam lying across the other couch. So that's what had him so preoccupied. I always thought about how different Reece and I were. But he and Liam were a lot different too. I don't think Reece realised how much people liked him, whereas Liam would wear a crown if you gave one to him.

"Well, well, you really do have her living with you after all," Liam grinned up towards me.

"Told you," Reece muttered childishly. The TV flicked to a commercial, and he drifted his eyes up towards me. "Finish unpacking?" I nodded my head and sat on the edge of the couch, where he had moved his feet so I could sit.

"Wish I had a hot girl staying at my house," Liam smirked. "You're free to stop by anytime you know, Carson."

"Shut up," I rolled my eyes at him.

"I got lucky," Reece smirked, using his foot to nudge my arm. I rolled my eyes at the two of them now. I didn't particularly like when their conversations steered towards me.

"Guess that means I can't crash in the guest room anymore," he frowned. "Unless you want to share the bed with me," his mouth spread into another grin, and he winked suggestively.

I smiled at him and shook my head from side to side. "Nope. You could always share with Reece?"

"No!" they both snapped at the same time, causing me to chuckle and sit back into the couch.

Liam sighed and rested back onto the arm of the couch. "Seniors tomorrow," he smiled. "I can't wait to just graduate and start living the university campus life. Although I do think this is going to be an awesome year. We've got soccer, and we've got girls. What more could you want?" he glanced towards Reece. He didn't respond and just continued staring at the TV. "Oh that's right," Liam smirked. "You don't mess around with girls like any normal teenage guy because you have a freaky obsession, and your a wuss," he taunted.

"Fuck off," he muttered. I smiled at him. So Liam must have known too. Well at least he was on the same page as me.

"I think it's nice," I commented. Reece smiled up at me, and gave me a wink.

"I think it's fucking weird. You're Reece Anderson, just tell the girl already, I'm sure she'll be thrilled," he muttered dryly. Reece ignored him, clearly not wanting to talk about the subject.

"It still amazes me how girls like you," I muttered.

He grinned and shrugged, "They're shallow. Cool with me."

I rolled my eyes, and stayed silent for the remainder of the time. I silently took in the way Reece was acting. It was funny how even Reece could seem like the quiet one when Liam was around. That was probably just Liam though. He basically outshone anyone.

But, it may have been the subject that had gotten brought up. If you ever wanted to shut Reece Anderson up, then all you had to do was bring up that situation that I'm sure he regretted ever telling any of us about. Because the second it was brought up, he went all quiet, and got a bit moody. It seemed like a touchy subject.

But once things got steered away from that topic, they were both back to normal, and basically being idiots.

After about an hour, Liam hoisted himself off the couch, announcing that he needed to get home and would see us tomorrow. I yawned as I heard the door shut behind him.

"You look tired. You should go to bed," Reece said, lifting his head to look at me.

I nodded my head and rubbed at my eyes. "Yeah, I'm going to head up now," I got up and stretched. Now that I was actually going up to bed in his house, I started realising how kind of weird this was. That I was actually living in his house for the year. Maybe it would take some getting used to.

"Yeah, I'll be up in a minute," he said. I nodded and slowly walked up the stairs and into my new room.

I found a pair of pyjamas and threw them on quickly, discarding my clothes into the hamper in the corner of the room. I sat on the edge of my bed and looked around my room a little more. My eyes passed over the acoustic guitar, then zoned back in on it for a second. I used to play a lot, before... well before stuff happened. I hardly played it at all anymore. And even when I did, it was only in front of Reece. I don't think anybody else even really knew I played.

"You haven't played that in a while," Reece's voice startled me from the doorway. He smiled at my reaction and walked into my room, picking up the guitar and holding it out to me. "Will you play for me?"

I frowned and shook my head, "I haven't played it in a while, Reece."

He shrugged and sat down next to me, the guitar in his lap. "So? You're good. And you used to play for me all the time. Play me a little lullaby to lull me to sleep. Please, Carse?"

I couldn't help but smile at him. Reluctantly, I took the guitar from him and positioned myself around it while he sat patiently and waited. I started strumming the strings that I hadn't touched in a while. It was a bit out of tune, but not too bad. I played through a familiar song that I still knew off by heart. He sat smiling, watching me play the whole time.

Once I finished, I looked at him and shrugged.

"That was beautiful, Carse," he smiled, taking the guitar and setting it back in its stand in the corner. "So, excited for school tomorrow?" He sat back down on the bed next to me.

I shook my head. "You know I'm not a huge fan of school."

"I love school," he grinned.

"No. You love who you are at school. Not school itself," I corrected. I'm sure lots of people would love school if they could go everyday and play their favourite sport ever, win all the time, and hardly have one person who doesn't dislike you.

"True." He looked down at the floor then back up at me, a look in his eyes as if he were assessing me. "I worry about you, Carse."

I knitted my eyebrows together. "Why?"

"You seem... down lately. You're not smiling like you usually are. I mean, it's your last year of high school. Loosen up a little; let more people into your life."

I frowned. Great, now I just seemed like a pathetic moron.

"What's uh... going on with you and Landon Reed? You two seemed pretty close over the summer. Almost thought he was stealing away my best friend," he smiled.

I smiled at the mention of his name. Sure, I wasn't miss social butterfly, but Landon was kind of an exception. He was one of Reece's friends too, except nothing like Liam and most of them. Just from being around Reece, the two of us had started hanging out on our own all summer.

"He's nice," I shrugged, smiling a bit. He smiled lightly, accepting my answer and then stood up, saying he was going to bed and would see me in the morning.

"Hey Reece," I called before he left the room. He spun around to face me. "You're right you know. I would like to...be different this year."

"Yeah?" he asked, slowly coming back in and sitting next to me.

I nodded my head and stared thinking back to Landon, and how nice he had been to me all summer. And our friendship did seem to be going in a certain direction.

"Did you ever just really want to fall in love? Like in movies and stupid corny stuff like that?" I asked abruptly. He just stared back at me. His blue eyes were dominating my brown ones. "I think I could maybe fall in love with him," I admitted quietly. "With Landon."

I waited for him to nudge me or make fun of me or something. But I got nothing. I glanced over towards him, his head was looking down towards the floor, and his eyebrows were furrowed together. I watched him silently for a second before his face smoothed out and he lifted his head to look back up at me.

"That's really nice, Carson," he said quietly.

I nodded my head dully and looked around my room before looking back at him. "Are you in love with her Reece? Like really in love?"

He didn't ask who I was talking about, because he already knew. "Yeah," he nodded. "I am."

"And that's why you don't mess around with all the girls at school right?"

He looked away for a moment, and then looked back at me. "I don't want her to think I'm an asshole," he muttered.

I smiled, that was sweet. "Well if it helps. I know you're not like that. So I'm sure she can see it too."

His face seemed to light up a bit. And he let out a light chuckle. "Thanks, Carse."

I looked over at him curiously. If only everyone at school knew, that Reece Anderson was in love. That would surely set off a riot. Even I couldn't fight off the curiosity of who it could possibly be.

"How do you... know?"

"I just do," he shrugged. Heh, interesting. I frankly didn't get it. How could you just, know?

"I think..." I started, thinking it over in my head. "We could help each other."

"What do you mean?" he stared at me.

"I want to fall in love with him, Reece, get out of my shell and let myself. And you want to be with this girl you're so in love with. Landon's your friend, and I don't know who this girl is, but I think we could help each other."

He stayed silent for a moment. "You want me to help you get more serious with Landon? Carse, I don't think you really need my help. The guy's probably already fell for you. And, I... I don't know if I'd be able to help you anyway."

I pouted and looked at him. "Yeah you can, Reece. Please, you're a guy, so you know this stuff. And I'm a girl, I can help you. Maybe that's why we were meant to be best friends," I smiled at him.

"It's not that I don't know what to say to her. It's that I don't know... how to tell her. I just can't," he muttered. It was so strange to see him acting this way. It only made the curiosity burn deeper.

"Please, Reece," I leaned forward to grab his line of sight.

He sighed and ran a hand through his hair. "You really want to be with him that bad?" I nodded my head vigorously. He seemed to frown for a second, but it disappeared before I could even notice. "Yeah, okay. I'll try," he said quietly.

"And I'll help you," I smiled, throwing my arms around his neck to hug him. I felt him lightly chuckle and wrap his own arms around me, hugging me back. I pulled back to look at him.

"So now you have to tell me who she is."

"No."

"Well how am I going to help you if I don't know who she is?" I asked frantically.

He smiled and shrugged. "This was your idea. Just... tell me what you'd want a guy to do for you."

I cocked my head to the side. Well that didn't make much sense. "But what if she's nothing like me. What if she's like some biker chick, or into the hardcore rock and roll stuff?"

He laughed and shook his head. "She's not."

I pursed my lips and assessed him. "Well can I at least ask you a few questions about her?"

"Depends."

I sighed and rolled my eyes. "Do you actually know her?"

"Yes."

"How long have you known her?"

"A long time."

I rolled my eyes at how non descriptive he was being. "What does she look like?"

"She's beautiful," he smiled. This was not working.

"Well, that only narrows it down to about a million people," I rolled my eyes. "You're not helping at all."

He grinned and shrugged his shoulders. "I'm sure you'll figure something out."

Well this was going to be a little harder than I thought. How could you give advice about someone if you had no idea who they even were?

"Well then, I guess all I can tell you right now, is be a good friend to her. All the best relationships start out from friendship, I think." I looked over at him, and saw the big smile on his face. "What?" I asked sceptically.

"Nothing," he shook his head. "Just... I completely agree with you."

He was being weird, but I shrugged my shoulders. I was too tired to think about it right now. "Well I guess we should go to sleep then. You'll have to have all your energy for the Reece deprived girls that'll be throwing themselves at you tomorrow," I deadpanned.

He smiled and threw his arm around my shoulder. "You know you're my first priority girl."

"Except for her right?" I tilted my head to look up at him.

He smiled and kissed the top of my head as he stood up. "You're pretty equal."

I smiled as I watched him stand up and stretch before he started to walk across the hall into his own room.

"Goodnight, Reece."

"Night, Carson."

A/N: I know they're no Sandra and Lucas, but hopefully all you returning readers will give them a chance ;) So clearly this is my new story, and I'm super, super, super excited about it! I actually started this chapter when I was only halfway through Not Quite off the Hook, so I've been waiting a while to post it. And I know, I know... I put soccer in my story again. I can't help it, it sucks me in everytime ;p Plus I suck at writing other sports. Anyway, hopefully I'll get just as much support from this story as I did for my last two. There isn't really much to say now, except that obviously not too much happened in this first chapter, but things will get up and going after this. And also, character pictures, and basically this whole new story will be added to my website which I haven't really updated in a while, besides the blog. But I'll let you know! And you can find the link to my website on my profile page, which is also going to be undergoing an update! Also, if you have any questions regarding the story, just ask! Thank you all so much for reading, and you would all be super duper awesome if you reviewed ;)

Thanks guys! -Jenelle
