Chapter 3: go speed racer

Sun leaked through the shades, hurting my eyes as I struggled to wake my brain. I heard something shuffling throughout my room. When I had opened my eyes a little bit I saw long, tan legs leading up to a short ruffled black skirt. She had on this dark green top, strapless, that complimented her skin very well. She had one of her heels in her perfectly manicured hand and a puzzled look on her face.

"You ok, Rosey?" she scoffed when I called her that.

"So not my name. Its Rosalynn or Riley. thats my middle name. i prefer that sometimes. And.. um.. where's my other heel..?" She frowned, a cute pouty frown. I laughed.

"Thats actually a funny story. Follow me." I opened the door to the balcony and heard her hiss as she took in the full effect of the light. "Hungover?"

"No... maybe... yes.." I laughed again.

"Well, here's your shoe." the stiletto was strapped around one of the rails. I heard a sigh of confusion from my angel. "Well, you were pretty drunk last night.. so I was taking off your shoes and you grabbed it, ran out here, and told me you wanted to make the railing feel pretty. You started to cry when I told you it was pretty enough and tried to take your shoe. So I just let you continue." I rubbed the back of my head and watch, amused, as she failed to unhook it.

"How on earth did I manage to hook it while smashed?" She frowned and sighed. I knelt down and smoothed her hair over her shoulder.

"Need help?" I smiled a dazzling smile at her. She pouted.

"NO!" She glared at her shoe. She was just so adorable right now. I reached over, gently pulled her hands away, and unhooked it with ease. "I said I didn't need help.." She whispered. I looked up to see tears forming in her eyes.

"Whats wrong?!" I gasped, appalled I could do something so soon to make my angel cry. She started sobbing.

"My"..hic.."boyfriend"..hic.."and I just"..hic.."broke up"..hic.."and I go"..hic.."and hook up. What's"..hic.."wrong with"..hic.."me?" She cried. I held her close. I guess she didn't remember.

"Honey.." I pulled her on my lap and rocked her as she cried. "We did nothing of the sort, I swear." I wanted to and she offered. But I wouldn't tell her that, not yet.

"Promise..?" She hiccuped. I told her I was absolutely certain. I would never do that to her, she was in no state to make those decisions. She seemed to accept my answer. At least I hoped she did.

"How about breakfast?"

I sat and watched as she devoured her pancakes, amazed she could breathe while eating that fast. I wasn't hungry right now, but I would have to hunt tonight.. just in case.

"Don't you want anything?" Her mouth was stuff and her words muffled. I suppressed a laugh.

"No, I don't care for pancakes." Or any human food. I chuckled. She looked at me quizzically, then kept eating. Today was gonna be a good day.

"i really should go." it was only noon. And its was only a saturday. Or maybe is was a sunday. I wasn't quite sure, to tell the truth. After a while, the days just seem to blur together.

"Oh you don't have to, Rosey." she scrunched her nose all cute.

"Don't call me that." she laughed, a beautiful laugh. "But I do have to go. Breakfast and shopping was very fun with you. I've never had more fun doing such mundane things in my life. But its a school night.."

"but.. its only noon.. you don't have to go yet.." I pouted. "i can take you home later.." somehow. I'd probably a nice car today anyways. I would defiantly need one if I was gonna be seeing her again. Correction. When I saw her again.

"Oh don't pout." she pushed my lip in with her finger.

"But you wanna leave." I pushed my lip out again. She giggled.

"Ok! Ok!" she giggled harder. Her laugh was music to my ears. "I'll stay, but only for a a few more hours. I have homework to do!"

"Homework?" I scoffed.

"well its my senior year. I gotta keep my grades up." I ran my finger along her cheek, across her lips, and back. She shivered quite visably. I hope with pleasure. "You know.." she climbed onto my lap. "I just met you, what, 20 hours ago? And I feel like I've known you a thousand lifetimes." she nuzzled her head into my neck.

"Really? Is that a good thing?" I kissed her cheek, acting calm, but in reality feeling nervous as all hell. I felt her smile and her cheeks warmed against my neck.

"its a very good thing." for a second there, I thought she remembered her past, our past. Thank god she did not. She looked up, smiling broadly at me. I smiled back.

"Rosey.." I licked my lips slightly. Her eyes softened, full of love. My heart pounded, not literally of course. I placed my hands on her hips and adjusted her so she was straddling my waist. It felt so good to have my Rosey this close again.

"Vinny.." I could feel her breath on my face as she inched closer. Her eyes drifted shut so I allowed mine to do the same. I smiled broadly as I inched ever closer to her..

"GO SPEED RACER, GO GO SPEED RACER, GO SPEED RACER GO!" I jumped and felt Riley fly off my lap.

"oh my god. OH my god!" she cursed under her breath as I helped her up. "thats my mom!" she flew across the room to her purse. When she flung it open, a small book fell out. She scrambled to get it as she answered the phone. "Hey mom!" she was breathless and panicky.

"Where are you?" her mother's voice was sharp and partially accusing.

"Oh relax. I went home with Kiera." her lie was smooth, no pauses. It felt like she lied to her mother a lot.

"Kiera who?! You don't know a Kiera!" I giggled softly.

"Mooommm! You know Kiera! She spent like the whole month at our house over the summer!" I watched her face light up as her mom hesitated and seemed to accept this. I glanced down at the book in her hand. In large, elegant lettering scrolled across the binding was "Riley's Journal". It looked custom made and very expensive. Must've been a gift. A phone snapped shut and I glanced away as she blocked her book from my view. I'll read it when she's asleep. Wait. no. I won't. That would be wrong.. "Mom bought it. Now time to let Kiera know. Be back in a few." she walked out of the room, journal in hand.

"Darn.." I could hear her muffled giggles coming from the hallway. I could hear her exact words if I inched a little closer, but I didn't want to snoop.

"I have to go. Kiera is on her way to pick me up. Just to authenticate our story. Plus she lives with her husband and everything so it's not like my parents can ask her parents." she chuckled, a strained uncomfortable chuckle. "So.. i'll see you around?" I stood, shifting from foot to foot.

"How long till she gets here?" Riley paused, looking extremely uncomfortable.

"20 minutes I guess." she kept her place by the door. I took a step towards her. Then another. I kept my eyes fixed on her. "What..?" she seemed to be getting more nervous by the second. But I couldn't help myself. I was standing in front of her now, towering over her measly 5'7 frame. I grab her free hand and wrapped it around me. With my other hand, I lifted her chin..

"Rosey.." I sighed slightly. I whisper her again name slowly. And again. With each time, her tension went away slightly. So I said until she was relaxed into my chest. "My Rosey."

"Vinny.." her sigh was like music to my ears. She stood up as tall as she could. She leaned in very close, eyes drifting shut again, and then her beautiful, delicious lips were on mine. Our lips moved in perfect harmony, just as I remembered they always had. Her kisses just got more delicious each time. I ran my hand down her back, resting it at the base of her spine. I slowly slipped my hand under her shirt. I nibbled on her lip, very careful not to break skin. We broke apart after a minute so she could breathe.

"Wow.." she gasped.

"You have no idea.. how long I've waited to do that." I whispered. Her eyes searched mine, curious. "Since the moment I laid eyes on you." Thousands of years ago, that is. She accepted this and kissed my lightly.

"Am I really that beautiful? No one has ever treated me as kind as you do." I smiled brightly.

"You are more then 'that beautiful'." I grabbed her and twirled her around.

"Go Speed Racer. Go, Go, Speed Racer. Go Speed Racer, GO!" I groaned very loudly. She frowned and answered the phone.

"Hey Kiera." she was still a little breathless.

"Riley! I'm outside. Get your butt out here!" her voice was high pitched and hyper. "and why are you so out of breath? You still with that guy?" I watched in wonder as Riley turned a most beautiful shade of red.

"Um no.. I mean.. yes.. I mean... I'm coming!" she grabbed her purse and ran towards the door. I stood silently where I was.. I sighed as she ran straight out. My gut wrenched as I heard the elevator doors open. I slowly closed my door. Heart aching, I laid down.

Suddenly, there was a knock. I stood up, smile returning to my face. I rushed to the door and swung it open. There stood my beautiful Rosey, all smiling up at me.

"i knew I was forgetting something!" she reached up, wrapped her arms around my neck and crashed her lips on mine. I felt her slid a piece of paper in my pocket. She pulled back and licked her lips. "Call me." she winked and ran off to meet her friend. I was wrong. Today wasn't just good. Today was excellent.
