Little Prince
Like a giant, you stood:
Chin upheld (but you were an ant's eye view),
Skin gleaming under artificial lights (your hands as slender as mine)
Only three times the size.
Like a giant, you stood,
Intimidating in your bigness, you dwarfed me
Limbs like tree branches, oaky and unyielding
Fingers like bean stalks, never-ending – little fingertips, barely grazing
Bronze skin like a landscape, rough and foreign
Dirty and aging, and smooth on my fingertips.
If you had a womb, I'd fit in it – glazed deity
With your eyes half-shut – enfold me.
