Chapter Seven: Alexandra and Dad
Alexandra was waiting with Jake.
Jake turned to see me. "Kelsey, finally! We were waiting for you!" he said.
Alexandra walked over to me and hugged me. I hugged her back.
"Hi," she said.
"Hi. Hey, Jake. Matt was back there," I said. Jake turned beet red. Matt used to be
Jake's best friend.
"Well can we go because I need to like listen to my I-touch right now. So yeah," I said bluntly.
"OK, lets go. I'll show the car," Alexandra smiled at me. I smiled back at her.
We walked. Everybody was looking at us. It was scary, actually. I mean, people in Britain were, you know, punk and I wasn't. I don't think I was. Well, whatever. I already saw three hot guys that were my type.
Outside, it was a bit humid but when is there never humidity? I was scared that my hair would get frizzy, but my never did when I was there.
The "car" was a limousine.
"Oh, all this for Daddy's girl?" I said.
"Yeah. It is. Listen, can we please try to just be normal sisters and not sisters who hate each other? Please?" she asked.
"Hm, do we really hate each other? No, I think we don't. I think the fact that we never really talk puts a damper on our mood and all. So do I want to be your friend or do I want to be your enemy in a school I've never been too? I chose to be your friend. So yeah."
"OK. Well, that was nice. So…" I already had my I-touch on and I was jamming out to my music. I was singing along to We Used to be Friends by the Dandy Warhols:
A long time ago, we used to be friends
But I haven't thought of you lately at all
If ever again, a greeting I send to you,
Short and sweet to the soul is all I intend.
A, ah-ahh-ahh-ahh
A, ah-ahh-ahh-ahh
A, ah-ahh-ahh-ahh
A, ah-ahh-ahh-ahh
Come on now, honey,
Bring it on, bring it on, yeah.
Just remember me when you're good to go
Come on now, sugar,
Bring it on, bring it on, yeah.
Just remember me when.
It's something I said, or someone I know.
Or you called me up, maybe I wasn't home.
Now everybody needs some time,
And everybody know
The rest of it's fine
And everybody knows that.
Come on now, sugar,
Bring it on, bring it on, yeah.
Just remember me when you're good to go
Come on now, honey,
Bring it on, bring it on, yeah.
Just remember me when.
We used to be friends a long time ago.
We used to be friends a long time ago.
We used to be friends a long time ago.
We used to be friends, hey hey
A, ah-ahh-ahh-ahh
A, ah-ahh-ahh-ahh
A, ah-ahh-ahh-ahh
A, ah-ahh-ahh-ahh
A long time ago, we used to be friends
But I haven't thought of you lately at all
If ever again, a greeting I send to you,
Short and sweet to the soul is all I intend.
We used to be friends a long time ago.
We used to be friends a long time ago.
We used to be friends a long time ago.
We used to be friends,
A, ah-ahh-ahh-ahh
A, ah-ahh-ahh-ahh
A, ah-ahh-ahh-ahh
A, ah-ahh-ahh-ahh
Then, during You're Gonna Go Far by the Offspring, Jake hit my leg. "Sing," he mouthed it to my. So I did.
Show me how to lie
You're getting better all the time
And turning all against the one
Is an art that's hard to teach
Another clever word
Sets off an unsuspecting herd
And as you step back into line
A mob jumps to their feet
Now dance, fucker, dance
Man, he never had a chance
And no one even knew
It was really only you
And now you steal away
Take him out today
Nice work you did
You're gonna go far, kid
With a thousand lies
And a good disguise
Hit 'em right between the eyes
Hit 'em right between the eyes
When you walk away
Nothing more to say
See the lightning in your eyes
See 'em running for their lives
Slowly out of line
And drifting closer in your sights
So play it out I'm wide awake
It's a scene about me
There's something in your way
And now someone is gonna pay
And if you can't get what you want
Well it's all because of me
Now dance, fucker, dance
Man, I never had a chance
And no one even knew
It was really only you
And now you'll lead the way
Show the light of day
Nice work you did
You're gonna go far, kid
Trust, deceived!
With a thousand lies
And a good disguise
Hit 'em right between the eyes
Hit 'em right between the eyes
When you walk away
Nothing more to say
See the lightning in your eyes
See 'em running for their lives
Now dance, fucker, dance
He never had a chance
And no one even knew
It was really only you
So dance, fucker, dance
I never had a chance
It was really only you
With a thousand lies
And a good disguise
Hit 'em right between the eyes
Hit 'em right between the eyes
When you walk away
Nothing more to say
See the lightning in your eyes
See 'em running for their lives
Clever alibis
Lord of the flies
Hit 'em right between the eyes
Hit 'em right between the eyes
When you walk away
Nothing more to say
See the lightning in your eyes
See 'em running for their lives
Alexandra looked at me with these eyes that just showed unbelief in them. I shrugged.
"IT'S TIME TO GET OUT!" she shouted.
"K," I said.
We got out.
Father was there, waiting for us. I looked at him in an evil way. He just barely looked at me. Jake walked up to him.
"Jake, son. How have you been?" he asked.
"Father. I've been good. This is Kelsey, your other daughter. She has grown up much, hasn't she?" Jake said.
"I've changed except for my record. I'm still trafficking drugs," I answered.
"Kelsey," Jake snapped. I just smirked and shrugged.
Dad looked over at me.
"You look just like your mother," he said to me, holding out his arms.
"So does that mean that I'll die off of the earth because of a transplant my ten year old daughter will need in the distant future?" I hugged him.
"No. Well, lets go inside and show you your rooms." He herded us like cows. How nice.
My room was black. I brought posters and lyrics and pictures and CD's and movie/concert stubs. So when I finished it, my room looked like me.
ASH future writtest: You welcome. Same here. Yeah I figured that it was big enough twist and her life will be revealed more an more as it goes.
