CHAPTER 1
"Part dress with the tights underneath" Grr… no it can't be my alarm clock. "And she's an actress, actress, but she got no need" No please no "tongues, always pressed to your cheeks" God make it into a dream. "And tell your boyfriend, boyfriend if he says he got beef, then I'm a vegetarian and I ain't fucking scared of him." DAMN IT ALL TO HELL! I grumbled and rolled over just to fall on my plush red carpet. I slammed my hand over my Ihome's snooze button and glanced at its digital clock. 6:30… where did my summer go? Half way through it was just packing and saying good bye to childhood friends and the rest was unpacking, registering to my new private high school, trying to find its uniforms and pre-studding for my new classes. Now it is August 24th and the first day of school… yippee. I dragged my feet to my bathroom and stood under the comforting spray for about 10 minutes then started washing my black hair and body. As I got out and started brushing my teeth, I looked into my mirror and noted my crystal blue eyes with their cat like pupils and my smooth ivory face. My wet hair plastered to my face, shaping it the way I like. I combed my hair and blow dried it and straightened the front part over my right eye. I pulled on the schools black uniform pants and its red polo with the 'Montgomery's Academy' logo on it. As I pulled on my new black Italian leather shoes, my mom's car drove up to the house. I called my goodbyes to my dad in the kitchen and rushed out to my mom's car.
Seeing as how the rest of the drive is boring, I will tell you about me. My name is Adam Martine; I'm 14 years old and a freshman at Montgomery Academy for Boys. I'm 5'9, short black hair, crystal blue eyes and my pupils are a diamond shape like a cats and I have ivory colored skin and a very lean build. I don't have a lot of muscle except in my legs thanks to track. My parents are divorced of 2 years and I used to live with my dad in New York where I was born but my mom complained about the price of tickets when I flew back and forth every summer, so we moved here to Houston, Texas. I was not excited about this at all and my mom and I hate each other. Well, I hate her, but I'm not so sure what she feels towards me. I never really forgave her for walking out on my dad and me 3 years ago. Now I am a teen, she seems to be really interested with me, and she dose things that creep me out, like kiss my cheek five seconds more then necessary and always putting an arm around my waist. I told my dad about it and he told her to stop, but she never did. I love my father though. He is the only one I ever told my secret to and he was totally accepting. He even told me his secret which was pretty close to mine, so we had hour discussions and he lets me do pretty much anything I want, as long as I don't come home with a cop on duty. Now that you know more about me, let us go back to the first day at a new school.
The school was huge. I thought New York schools were big, I was wrong. This thing was a CASTLE! I was greeted at the gate by a girl who looked like she was 18. "Hi, my name is Claries; I am the school's guide. If you ever need any help finding anything, you can find me in the office. Now let's have a look around the school." I followed Claries through the huge court yard to the school. The inside looked like an overly large school, with lockers on every wall of the halls. We walked in to the attendance office, where a balding man with a Santa Clause beard handed me my schedule, locker number and combination, and a stack of heavy books. I shuffled through them and saw they were for every class I have! My back started to scream. Claries led me down the hallway on our left and started to explain how the school worked. "We have different blocks. There are two blocks for each grade level. The blocks have competitions in the year for everything, and give out the awards in the end of the year. There is the best reading, most read books, highest GPA, science fair, and so on. You don't have to participate, but most students do. Now, there are to be no 'funny business' on campus. This includes illegal business, sexual things, vandalizing, and so on. If any of this is reported, the punishments will vary, but each of them will not be light. If you are sent to the Dean more then twice, you will be expelled. If you talk back to a teacher, you will be expelled. If you insult another student, teacher, guest, or anyone else you will be expelled. If you are caught dealing or doing drugs or smoking on campus, you will be expelled. Same goes for fighting. Do you understand?"
"Yes, ma'am, I understand." I answered. Wow this school is up tight, I thought.
"Good, also if you are absent for more than 2 days without a note or a parent calling you in, you will be suspended. We do not accept misbehavior. We are here to teach and prepare you all for college and the real world; we do not need little punks making our jobs harder than they need to be. Now here is your locker." We were on the second floor and locker 270 was covered in sticky notes. I pulled one of them off and saw it was a greeting. I skimmed over the others and saw they were all welcomes. Wow, nice welcome wagon. We walked back down to the first floor and about 5 minutes we came to the door of my new second period. Claries knocked on the door and a female's voice called for us to come in. When Claries opened the door and I was able to peek inside, I felt my stomach do a summersault and a back flip at the same time. The room was huge with about 35 students inside, and they all looked the same! The only difference was their eye colors, but even then some had the same eyes. "Hello, my name is Mrs. Lovett. You must be Adam, correct?"
"Y-y-yes m-m-ma'am" I stuttered, feeling my cheeks growing hot.
"Now Adam, there is no reason to be embarrassed. Please tell us about yourself." As she said this, I heard the classroom door slam closed. I glanced at it and saw an angel. He was about 6'1, black hair with green eyes with red around the pupils, snake bites and an eyebrow piercing. He wore the same uniform as me so I knew he was a student, maybe 15. He saw me staring and… flipped me off! What the hell?! "How nice of you to join us, Mr. Johnson, and note, if I ever see that again, straight to the Dean; do you understand?" "Yes, Mrs. Lovett." The angel responded and seemed to glide over to a desk by the window.
"Mr. Martine, you were telling everyone about your self?"
"Um, what would you like to know?"
"Where do you come from? What do you like? Dislike? Things like that."
"Okay, well, my name is Adam Martine; I was born and lived in New York City for my 14 years of life. I like track and video games and studding. I dislike rude people," I glared at the angel, "and crowded places."
"Hi, Adam." the class, except Mr. Angel, said in unison.
"Well, take a seat next to Mr. Johnson and we will continue with class." Mrs. Lovett nodded to the only empty seat in the room that was right next to Mr. Angel and turned back to the board. I readjusted my messenger bag and walked down the aisle to my seat. The walk seemed to take forever, and of course the seat was in the very back. I was not surprised when I tripped over my own feet right before I reached it. The class broke out in laughter as I picked myself off from the floor. Mrs. Lovett called the class to order, but anyone with ears could hear the laugh she was holding back. My face turned red like an apple as I hurried the last steps to my desk, avoiding eye contact. I sat down quickly, pulled out my English text book, shuffled through the pages to 370, opened my pink note book (yes it is pink), pulled out my black pen and scribbled the notes down from the board. I felt eyes on me through the rest of the class and also when I walked out of the room. As I waited for Claries to come and show me to my next class, I saw the angel walking towards me. I ignored him in till he spoke. "My name is Eric." He stretched his arm out to me to shake. I eyed him suspiciously and reached out to grab it and just as I suspected, he pulled it away from me, but thanks to years of having to put up with bullies, playing video games, and fighting to stay alive, I was fast enough to grab his hand as he was retreating and I squeezed hard. He looked down at our hands and winced at the pain. I dropped his hand and smiled at him. "Don't think you are the only one who tried that bull shit on me. By the way, I'm Adam and I don't like having to put up with rude people." Right after that, Claries walked up and as we started walking away, I felt Eric's gaze follow me.
The rest of the day went on without anymore embarrassment and I was able to make it out of the building in one piece. I walked up to the curb and waited for my dad, but a few minutes later, I felt someone or something watching me. I looked around and saw no one. I was debating ether I should wait for my dad somewhere else when his black 2010 Corvette LX pulled up. I jumped in and pulled on my seat belt a bit too quickly. "Something wrong?" my dad asked his blue eyes full of worry.
"No dad, just paranoid." I gave him a weak smile.
"Okay then, home?"
"YES! I'm tired!"
"I bet, in school from 7:30 to 8:30 at night is pretty bad."
"One hour and 55 minute classes and that is eight classes… yeah that is 12.4 hours dad!" "Man, I can't believe that is legal."
"I know!"
"So meet any boys?"
"DAD!"
"I will take that as a yes." I punched him in the arm and stared out the window at the green trees that seemed to be everywhere.
