Chapter 4

New friend

Around four thirty, Stella made her way threw the schools garden, deep in thought about Eric. He has been on my mind all day! What's wrong with me? We just barley met and I already have my heart reaching out to him! I'm so stupid! "Hello! Earth to Stella!" A voice cut threw her thoughts.

"Oh, hi Anne."

"What's up with you? I mean you were spacing out all threw French!"

"Just have a lot on my mind."

"I can see that…. where are you going?"

"Home."

"Um, isn't it that way?"

"I moved to the 'haunted house'."

"The old hag kick you out?"

"Nah, I ran away."

"Oh. Can I come over?"

"I guess if as long as you don't disturb or mind my roommate."

"Huh?"

"You'll see."

The girls walked up the hill talking about their French teacher before they were stopped by a black figure a few feet from them and the house.

"Welcome home." The figure said in a velvet voice that Stella knew well now.

"Hey ,Eric. I brought a friend a long." Eric looked at the overly freaked out Anne with a glint of humor in his eyes.

"Good evening, my lady." He said and bowed, then slowly straightened out and held his hand out to her. "Please do come in." His brilliant smile formed on his face and the dazed Anne took the hand and was lead in the house, Stella following behind trying to hold in a laugh.

A few hours later Anne pronounced that she had to go home. "My mom will freak if I stay over my curfew."

"Aw come on Anne! Why don't you ask her if you can spend the night?" Stella asked the begging behind it noticeable.

"Well my mom is not the one to take a sleepover with a boy, a vampire boy for that matter, lightly."

"You don't have to tell her about Eric."

"True. Fine I will ask." Anne went in the kitchen, dialing her moms' number.

"She seems friendly." Eric said after the kitchen door closed behind Anne.

"Yep, Anne and I have been friends since kinder."

"Nice."

"She said yes!" Anne squeaked as she ran from the kitchen, her childish smile getting bigger by the moment. Eric stood up and she ran straight for him and he embraced her picking her up as if she weighed nothing and spun on the spot, Anne laughing the whole time. When he set her down, she fell on the couch, eyes full of mischief.

"Did you go hunting yet?" She asked Eric.

"Nope."

"When you do, can we watch?"

"What's up with you two and wanting to watch me hunt?"

"It's cool." Stella chocked up, her heart feeling like it was being grabbed by a stony grip, the image of Anne and Eric's happy looks flashing threw her memory.

"OK then, let's go." The group walked into the forest and bumped into a late night mountain lion. Eric went in his usual hunting crouch, both girls looking down south, and sprang onto the un-expecting creature. Anne gasped beside Stella, and Eric gently picked up the carcass and hid it behind a thick sage bush. That night Stella could only dream of Eric. In the morning, Anne kicked her.

"What was that for?" Stella asked, anger forming.

"You were talking in your sleep all night!"

"Huh?"

"'Oh Eric I want to help you so much!' 'Eric I love you so much to!' 'Eric, all my dreams are about you!'"

"Oh my god. I said that?"

"Yes!"

"Oh! Oh! Oh! Did Eric hear?"

"I don't know, but we are going to be late to school so hurry up!"

"Oh sheep!"

The girls rushed down the hill toward their school and barley made it to class before the tardy bell rung.

"Hey Stella, can I come over again?" Anne asked Stella with her hopes high.

"No, we have to go to the library today."

"Oh." Stella felt bad for being mad at Anne, but the vision of Eric and her together haunted her still. She was not going to let Anne take yet another guy from her. After school Stella rushed home before Anne could catch up with her.
