Stars twinkled above the green trees, the giant full moon glowing enough to provide light. Tears streaked down Morgan's face as she waited outside the cottage. The rain escaped through the leaves once more and poured down in a steady beat. Beside her, her little brother had his face buried in his hands. He wouldn't admit it but he was still balling over the fact that Caleb might be dead. Being in the healer's house for the rest of the day, no one yet had gotten word about what happened to the unfortunate man.

To Morgan's other side was the parent's of Caleb; their face's streaked with red from the tears. Morgan only seemed to be the only one not mourning. It was being afraid of what ever did that to Caleb is what made her cry. Everything seemed too horrible at the moment. He probably regretted taking off running and she knew she defiantly wished she hadn't scolded him so loud.

The wooden door came open and the healer motioned for everyone to come in. Caleb was pale, but he was up and eating a strange blue root. Eyes seeming distant for a moment, he didn't realize he had company in the room until Yvan touched his arm. Tears glazed over Morgan's eyes as everyone gathered about the man with questions. Caleb gave a weary glance toward her and a light smile came across his face.

"He'll be fine by tomorrow." The healer said, breaking into the crowd. "I don't know what had happened to him though. It took forever to get him to wake and to feed him the root."

"Can I be alone with Morgan for a moment?" propping himself up on his elbow, Caleb weakly asked everyone to leave. They did as he asked and soon she was left alone with him.

"What do you want?" she snapped, afraid of what he had to say to her. Morgan decided that if she kept on talking he couldn't tell her what was wrong. "You had me worried sick back there and I had to drag you! I almost passed out too back there from the worry. I can't believe you'd scare me like that!" her mouth trembled for a moment longer until Caleb held up a finger.

"It touched my soul, Morgan! I saw it's black robes and then it's face. It caught me and was going to kill me! He only had enough time to have me out for hours though. I heard him say something too but it was lost when I passed out." Wiping the cold sweat from his forehead, Caleb lay back onto his pillows and closed his eyes. "I am forewarning you Morgan…don't look for it. Wait till I recover and I'll hunt it down. I have already been touched by it and I know how to avoid it."

"You can track it! If you are going, then I have to come too. It is all too dangerous to go by yourself!"
