Kissing In The Rain
Don't you just love the rain? It's all wet and watery and… Okay. So, maybe I don't have reasons for liking the rain. But I still do anyway. And there's nothing you can do about that. Hah!
It was a beautiful rainy Tuesday and while students were grumbling about having to use an umbrella or having to make a dash home, I, on the other hand, was happily dreaming about that thought.
Well, not about using an umbrella. Or having to dash home. Actually, I was planning on walking. Or skipping.
I pushed open the front door of the school and inhaled the smell of the rain. I stood there watching the rain for a couple of minutes. It was so soothing and calming.
Oh, sweet rain! Mother Nature was such a beautiful thing!
I took my first step out and shuddered at the cold. But I grew accustomed to it quickly. Soon, I was merrily skipping home.
Yes, I chose to skip.
I continued skipping even as other students ran past me and shot me bewildered looks.
What? Don't look at me like that! I'm not insane, I swear! You don't believe me? Well, that's too bad then. But really, you should try it. It's fun!
…No? You won't? Aww.
"Please tell me I'm seeing things and that you're not seriously skipping," came a male voice from behind me.
I twirled around to find Alex staring at me with one of his 'what the hell is wrong with you' looks.
"Oh, uh, since you want me to, you're seeing things," I beamed up at him.
He shot me a look and walked over to me. I continued on with my skipping and he fell into step with me.
When I say fell into step with me, I mean that he's walking beside me. Not skipping.
…Alex skipping! Ha ha ha ha, oh my gosh. That's hilarious.
I peered at him curiously, "Why are you walking? I mean, all those normal people are dashing and all that," I asked him, waving my arm in the air.
"So you admit that you're not normal," he teased, "I'll get wet if I run anyway. There's no point in wasting my energy."
I ignored his first comment about me not being normal. Psht. I'm as normal as a human can be!
"Oh," I nodded, peering curiously at him again.
Alex was a popular guy in my school. He wasn't a jock or anything. And he definitely wasn't a jerk. In fact, he's really nice. He'd help anybody, no matter where his or her position is on the social ladder.
Did I mention that he's hot? Yep! He is. Which adds to the whole package and makes him even more irresistible. The girls in school find him irresistible, that is. Not me! No! I'm serious! I don't find him irresistible! Okay, maybe a bit. A tiny little bit though.
I peered at him again. He was wearing this plain blue shirt with jeans. They were sticking to his body now because of the rain so they showed how fit he was. His black hair which would usually be poking out in every direction possible was now sticking to his forehead.
I peered at him, again. He was staring straight ahead. Oh wait, he's turning to look at me. I wonder what he's thinki-
"Would you stop doing that?" he snapped.
"Doing what?" I asked innocently.
"Looking at me. Every few seconds," he told me.
"I thought you'd be used to it by now from the way girls keep checking you out…," I trailed off, checking out my surroundings. I stopped abruptly when I realized we were in the backyard of his house. I didn't realize that we had walked this far already. And why was I in his backyard, of all places?
I stared at his pool, watching as the droplets of rainwater patter into it. Ohhh! Pretty!
"Did you just call me hot?" he asked me, smirking.
I snapped my gaze back to him, "What?! NO! I did not!"
"Yes. Yes, you did," he grinned.
I stomped my foot angrily, "I did not!"
"God," he grinned his gorgeous grin, "You look so cute when you're angry."
"I did n- Wait. What?"
Instead of replying me, he strode over to me, pressed both of his hands to my cheeks and kissed me.
I pushed him back, sputtering, "Wh-What… Y-Yo-You… I… Bu-Bu-But… HUH."
He smirked, "Yes? Are you going to form understandable sentences anytime soon?"
I glared at him, "Shut up."
"Okay," he shrugged, wrapping his arms around me and kissing me again.
I was about to push him away when he backed me against the wall, his hands gripping my wrists.
I protested against his lips and he pulled back slightly, his lips still brushing against mine, "You're supposed to kiss me back, Charlene."
So I did. Once he was sure I wouldn't push him away again, he pulled my hands to wrap them around his neck and dropped his hands on my cheeks. He deepened the kiss and I moaned softly.
He was wrong though. He was wrong about thinking that I wouldn't push him away.
I pressed my hands onto his chest, holding him away from me. He growled.
"I thought of my sentence," I informed him, walking forward which simultaneously pushes him back.
"What?" he shot me a look.
"You can't think I'm cute. I'm your neighbor," I informed him.
"That's the best reason you can think of? Really, Char?" he shot me a bewildered look.
"So what is this supposed to mean anyway? Do you like me?" I asked him. I stopped walking and pulled him to a stop with me too when I was where I wanted to be.
"Obviously," he muttered.
"As in, like me, like me?" I asked curiously.
"Yes," he growled.
"Huh," I responded thoughtfully.
He let me think for a while before he grew impatient.
"So?" he prompted.
"So what?"
"So, what do you think about me liking you? You're supposed to tell me that you like me back," he grinned.
"Bu-But I don't like you back," I frowned.
He rolled his eyes, "Come on, Charlene. I've known you for a long time. I know you do."
"Well, I don't," I informed him.
"I'll make you admit it no matter what," he narrowed his eyes.
"You will? How?"
"Oh, I have my ways," he wiggled his eyebrows.
I smiled sweetly at him, "We'll see about that."
When I said that I stopped us where I wanted us to be, yeah, it was right by his pretty pool. I shoved him and down he went.
SWOOSH!
I burst out laughing as he came sputtering to the surface.
"Oh, you'll get it from me," he yelled.
I was about to ask him what did he mean when he suddenly grabbed my ankle and pulled me down.
It was my turn to sputter up to the surface.
"HE-" I was about to yell when he kissed me.
He wrapped his arms around my waist, pulling me close. I surprised him by wrapping my arms around his neck willing, and kissing him back.
This time, he was the one who pulled back, "You're supposed to tell me you like me back."
I smiled sweetly at him, placed my hands under the water and started splashing as much water as I could at him.
"HEY!" he protested.
I laughed and swam away from him, "I don't!"
I hurriedly got out of the pool and ran towards his house. I knew that his mother would be at home and she would let me in. However, he was faster than me. He reached me at the porch and twirled me around, bringing his lips down on mine again.
We stayed there for a while longer. That is, until someone yanked open the front door of his house.
I shoved him away from me.
"Charlene! It's nice to see you," Alex's mom greeted me.
"It's nice to see you too," I replied shyly.
Mind you, I just kissed her son.
"Oh my! You're soaking! Do you want to come in and get yourself dried up?"
I shook my head, refusing to look at Alex even though I knew he was glaring at me for saying no, "My house is just next door. I can walk. It was nice to see you."
For the first time, I bolted in the rain.
I looked up from my spot in the hallway to see him laughing with his friends. I glared at the top of his head.
I guess he must have felt my gaze because he looked up to meet my eyes. When he saw me, he grinned and started to walk over.
"Hey," he greeted me.
"HACHOOO!" I greeted him.
"Are you okay?" he frowned.
"No," I wailed, "And it's all your fault!"
He laughed, "Sorry. Here, I'll kiss to make you feel better."
He leaned down and pressed his lips to my forehead.
He pulled back but wound his arms around my waist, "Did that work?"
I shot him a look. He laughed.
"I think you made me love the rain," he winked, resting his forehead against mine, "And you still haven't told me you like me."
"I don't," I told him and he groaned, "I love you."
He stared at me with shock before he slowly started to grin.
"I love you too," he told me, "I'm going to kiss you. Don't hit me," he told me warily.
He leaned down and kissed me. And I kissed him back too.
"Finally," he muttered when he pulled back for air.
A.N. That was... random. And a little odd. Enough said.
