Beautifully Broken– By Emily

Chapter 1; Broken in pieces

I stood there leaning against the cold counter surface.

"How long Fernando?" I said quietly. No response "HOW LONG?" I yelled hitting the counter.

"Two months" he mumbled looking at the floor.

"TWO!?" I said getting louder

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean for it to go this far, she means nothing Emily, I promise"

"You promise?" I laughed "When you gave me this, that was a promise" I said sticking my engagement finger up, flashing the diamond rock he'd given me just four months before. /"Another promise that's just been shattered" Crying, I pulled the ring off causing me to hurt myself, and hurled it towards him.

"You can take that, take your stuff and get the hell out of MY home" I turned my back on him.

The last thing I heard was a slight shuffle and him mumble something in Spanish before the door slammed. I let it all out, falling to the floor in a flood of tears.

A few weeks passed, and I didn't speak to Fernando much at all. We agreed to give each other space. Maybe if he'd told me sooner, I might have been able to forgive him, but it's the fact it went on for two months and I had no idea.

The three weeks following the break up were a blur. I missed him. I hated him for what he did, but I missed him . The only comfort I had was I still had his hoodie. It smelt just like him. His unique smell. In fact, it was his own scent. That's the perks of being a Footballer. Getting to create your own scent. Which then your ex girlfriend becomes addicted to once you've left.

Before long my best friend Megan came to visit me. She'd been out in Italy with her boyfriend for the past month working on a record with him. They'd formed a band with themselves. It was cute actually.

"Hey babe" she said as she walked into the kitchen where I sat on the counter top./ "How are you?" she asked. She sounded so patronising.

"I'm good" I said shortly. I was never short with Megan.

"I...I..." before I could say anything else I broke down crying. Again. Megan came and put her arm around me and told me to calm down.

"It'll be ok" she told me stroking my hair out of my eyes.

"How? How will it ever be ok again? He's broken me Meg, and he doesn't even care" I sobbed.

And the truth is, I honestly didn't think he did care. He hadn't bothered to call, write, email, drop round anything. Then again, he's probely thinking of his health. Seeing as my older brother came round quite often and he was ready to beat him to a pulp.

That's not what I wanted, all I wanted was him. I just wanted my El Nino back. My little El Nino, well not so little seeing as he was 6ft1 and I was a tiny 5ft4 he towered over me. But it was something that we loved about each other, the way he could pick me up with ease.

"Emily?!" Megan shouted snapping me out of my daydream. "Emily this was on the floor" she said handing me my engagement ring off the floor.

I hadn't bothered to clean since Fernando left, I guess he never picked it up. I took it out of Megan's hand , mine hand shaking. A few fresh tears fell down my face./ Wiping them away with my hoodie sleeve I walked up stairs still holding the ring.

"where are you going?" Megan called after me.

"To get my fiancé back!" I yelled back.
