I spy a spider
Dusty, ensnared in its web
Yet released in death
My cat stares puzzled
At a puzzle on the floor
What is he thinking?
We hear coyotes
Outside of my bedroom walls
Is our music heard?
Little bird on my sill
How you peer into my home
Your black eyes blink once
Falling leaves dazzle
As I lay upon the moss
I will remember
Strange plant in my path
I wonder at your toxins
And fear to touch you
A worm on a vine
We offer you to the fish
Which dart beneath us
The toy keeps spinning
Laughs from a merry-go-round
Blood runs down my knee
Dripping from our roof
You glisten and gleam brightly
Dying in the sun
The water is dark
But little shapes swim within
One day they will bite
