Jay P.O.V.
"What planeta are you in, chica?" Leo asked on our way down the cafeteria. I sighed.
"Am I that obvious?" I muttered quietly, my eyes facing downwards.
"No, but yo te conozco. You are never this quiet! So que pasa?" He asked putting his arm over my shoulder. I leaned into him and sighed again.
"It's just that Ry is acting really weird." We were walking like that to the cafeteria.
"When is he not?" He asked. By now, we had arrived to our destination. The cafeteria!
As usual, when we enterd the cafeteria the loud chatter stopped for a few seconds and resumed it's original volume when they saw who it was.
"I know, but it's just different somehow." I said shrugging.
"You, querida, need to stop worrying. It's probably nada." He said ruffling my hair and sitting at our table.
"Asshole." I said, putting my hair back in place. I stuck my tongue out at him and sat down, sulking. He simply stared, smirking with his arms crossed.
We sat in the corner of the noisy cafeteria. We could see who came and went. We were also close to an emergency exit because you never know when you are going to have to run.
"Chris, why don't you tell Miss Worrywart to stop getting her pants in a twist."
"Leo, dude, it's panties in a twist not pants." The metioned guy, or as he liked to say 'dude', Chris said. He always had to add dude to every sentence he said.
"Whatever." Leo drawled slowly, nodding his head with each vowel. Everyone at our table tried to hide a smile. Some where successful while others, like Chris, were not and they got Leo's very intimating death glare.
"So Kev." I said changing the subject. The forementioned guy choked on his water. I snickered like the rest of the table. After a few minutes of nonstop coughing, he was finally able to talk.
"Yah?" He said, his voice was hoarse from the coughing.
"What did you-" Chris cut me off. That bastard doesn't know when to shut up.
"Dude, why were you-" That's all he said before I shot him a death glare. He visually gulped. I smirked.
"So Kevin, what were you gonna tell me before we were rudely interrupted by the principal?" I asked, and shot Chris another glare just in case he decided to interrupt again. All of the sudden, the atmosphere got tense.
"Well, eh, how do I put this gently?" He said, growing nervous. I raised my eyebrows. Something was seriously going on.
"You know I don't like secrets. We can either do this the easy way or the hard way. Your pick." After a few seconds of silence, nobody answered. I look around the table but I could tell nobody was going to spill the beans. Damn. I opened my mouth to invent some threat when suddenly someboy spoke.
"Your brother killed some guys from Anthony's. And you know how Anthony takes everything personally." Zach said, always straight to the point.
"Ah, fuck." He nodded and sat down across from me. Anthony's gang was the Chokers' rival. When someone from the opposing gang got killed by the hands of their rival, things always got messy.
"You might wanna lay low for a while." Zach said. Translation: Don't get seen by Tony's gang. I smiled bitterly.
"Don't I know it." Everyone in our table knew what had happened the last time I got involved in a messy fight between the two rival gangs. Someone I loved deeply was no longer living because of it. That was the weird logic of gangs. If they couldn't hurt you physically, they hurt you emotionally but either way you got hurt.

"Hello?" I answered my phone, furrowing my eyebrow. My caller I.D. said unknown number which was weird. Only my friends and family knew my number.
"Jay it's Ryan." The voice said.
"Ryan why didn't you call from your phone?" I asked, puzzled.
"It's tapped. Remember what I said this morning?"
"Yeah."
"Well forget it I need you to come home with Alex."
"Why?"
"Just do it Jay!" He said harshly, hanging up... The fuck? I stared at my phone with my mouth opening and closing, like a fish.
"Um... Jay?" Kevin said, hesitantly. That snapped me out of my trance.
"I gotta go." I said, quickly standing up and walking outside. I replayed the conversation over and over. I was dazed. He sounded desperate and scared which was unusual because he always put a strong front in front of everyone.
I opened my car door and noticed that I was shaking. I took deep breaths and started the drive to Alex's school.
Jake P.O.V. (Just in case you can't guess, Jake aka Jacob Ryans, is Matt's BFF and step-brother!)
"Hey Jake!" A girl said. Guess she knew me but that wasn't a surprise everyone knew me.
"Hey...?" I said uncertainly.
"Madison." Cue for awkwardness.
"Right."
"Hey Jake!" Ah, my savior!
"Matt!"
"Let's go we don't wanna be late to the first day of school!" I rolled my eyes. Of course he'll worry about getting on the teacher's good side. It apperently 'comes in handy' when you do something wrong. Maybe it is true because no matter what he does he never gets in trouble.
"Dude!" Ah, I spaced out again. I gave Matt a sheepish smile
"Well, Mary, I gotta go see ya 'round!" I said walking away.
"It's Madison!" She yelled after me.
"Yeah whatever." I murmured.
"Sometimes you're such a jerk." Matt said, shaking his head. I raised my eyebrow and smirked.
"You shouldn't be talking. You don't even give'em a second glance." Putting his hands in his pockets, he shrugged and chuckled.
"You know why I don't date." I shook my head and walked towards my locker. He groaned.
"I thought you already went to your locker!"
"Hell no! Plus I just got here." He rolled his eyes.
"Which is why I don't drive you to school." He muttered under his breath.
It's over
Look out below
And I'm wasted
I still taste it
Yeah it's so hard to let go
So breathe in now
And breathe it out
The forecast
A car crash
It's looking like another.
"Hey Ma, what's up?" I answered my phone.
"I need you to come home with Matt." My mom, Sarah, said.
"Wha-"
"Now Jake!" She snapped, hanging up my phone. Weird! My mom is the pacifier of the family and for her to snap like that... So something's up! Well then.
"Matt let's go!"
"What? Why?" He asked, confused. Well buddy I'm too.
"Mom said so." I said, closing the locker and walking towards the exit. He huffed.
"Fine."
"I'll race you!" I said, wiggling my eyebrows.
"No." I pouted.
"Dude, that look so doesn't work on me!" He said, walking to his car.
I stuck my tongue out at him.
"Wow Jake! Very mature!" He said, every word dripping with sarcasm. I onced asked him if he had eyes behind his back because he could see without even turning around which was weird. Or maybe he's a ninja! That'll be so cool to have a brother for a ninja!
"Whatever." I sniffed.
"Baby." He said, driving away.
I got into my car and sped away, unaware of what was coming.
