Unexpected
A/N- This is just another short story that I made up, and decided to put on here.
LTBB
Well I be damned, putting Tabasco sauce in Claire's coffee would make her vomit. I glance across the office to Sue who is smiling like a Cheshire cat, I owe her twenty quid. Looking back to Claire (who is by this point is running with a bin tucked under her chin to the bathroom) I feel a little guilty although she is so rude to everyone including me that she did have it coming.
After she's left the room everyone turns to look at me in awe. How do they know? Only Sue should know the reason that 'Cruel Claire' is blowing chunks in the ladies. Turning slowly to Sue I can see she is far to intent on staring her computer, leaning right over it so all I can see is the tips of her shoulders. Snitch.
Suddenly deciding that getting away from my desk and out the room would be not only a wise idea but a safe idea as I'm about a second away from throwing a mug at Sue's head, I go to the coffee machine.
As I walk down the corridor and get to the machine, I am thinking of excuses just in case I get called to the boss's office.
She must have a weak stomach, you didn't even put that much in only something like one drop!.
The little voice in my head is telling me may be true but I know there is no way out of this one. Choosing the strongest coffee option, I wait for the old machine to make my drink. Without warning the bathroom door which is about 5 yards away from where I am standing, bursts open and out stumbles a very pale looking Claire, I turn my head to stare at the machine hoping she won't notice me, I clench my jaw waiting for her to pass. She trips and intern walking past helps her pick up her bag she dropped, asking her if she's okay.
Claire being the rude woman she is sneered "Move out my way before you regret it kid." Immediately the boy lets her pass and once she is gone from sight said in a quiet whisper "Thank heavens for Tabasco sauce. Don't you think Sara? I didn't know it was her at first, if she wasn't feeling ill I would have been fired for even talking to her." My blood went cold. Oh, I am in trouble. I don't even know this kid and he knows my name and what I did.
Turning back to the machine I clasped my polystyrene cup and almost ran back to my desk where I made no eye contact for the next three hours to anyone.
After I have finished my work I wait pretending to still be working, hoping I can be the last one out of the office to avoid meeting anyone else.
After half an hour everyone has left. I grabbed my bag and make my way to the elevator, pushing the arrow down button, I wait looking either way down the hall, completely empty. The elevator arrives and the doors open, I almost cry, standing there is Jason Smith the owner of the whole company. Stepping in I stand as far away from the handsome man as I possibly can in the small metal box.
Why would he care? He has hundreds of employee's he doesn't even know what I look like, even if he heard the rumour.
Having convinced myself that I won't get fired here I relax and stare at the flashing numbers on top of the door. After ten seconds Jason clears his throat twice, knowing that he is trying to get my attention I turn to him not expecting the amused expression plastered on his face.
"You are Sara right? Sara Robins? Did you know that this company has C.T.V cameras all over your office?" He looks like he is trying not to laugh. Closing my eyes and wishing that the numbers would move faster I speak quietly "Yeah I'm Sara, and no I didn't know our company had C.T.V cameras inside my office." I speak looking dead ahead and after a few seconds of silence he starts laughing quietly, annoyed I turn to him and on seeing my facial expression he laughs loudly.
A couple more seconds later doors open and I dart out heading to the main doors as fast as I can, completely mortified. I almost get to the door when Jason catches up with me telling me to stop, I turn to him annoyed and completely humiliated. He smiles down at me and I can't help but let some of my uneasiness slip away.
"Look relax. You know the security man James?" Jason asks still smiling.
James is only about eighteen and I say hi to him in the mornings and when I leave but that's about it, nodding at him he carries on.
"He asked Claire if she wanted help with the boxes of supplies she was carrying and she was very rude, he even asked after being shouted at for five minutes by her if he could hand in his resignation." I really don't see where this is going. "Well this Claire must have not been informed of is that James's surname is Smith. James is my cousin. That CTV footage will be seen my no one except me and James, I just wanted to say thanks. We have been waiting for someone to get payback for months." Without another word he walked into the car park and left me confused and relived. Looking around I see James walk towards the door waiting to lock up, as I pass him he gives me a subtle thumbs up, then locks the door after me.
I get into the drivers seat of my car and wait for karma to hit me in the face.
A/N- I wouldn't advise putting spicy sauce in your colleagues coffee, no matter how truly unbearable they are :)
