Chapter 4 -Realisation
Nervously sitting in a comfy round armchair, in a decorative room, with guards at every exit, Caley glanced around. The shelves were full of books, bottles and scrolls and the walls covered in detailed paintings. She particularly liked one of a large golden dragon and a young warrior woman with black hair and gold eyes, in battle.
Shyla stepped through the entrance of multicoloured beads and sat behind the desk. She stared into Caley's eyes a moment, as if searching, searching for hope.
"Your name." Shyla said simply.
"Caley" Caley replied.
"And what, Caley, were you doing in the forest of Fyein, with such precious cargo?" Honestly, was everybody bothered about these crystals! Caley thought, irritated.
"Travelling, escaping, why do you need to know?" A harsh tone edged into Caley's voice.
"I am Shyla. Leader of the rebellion dragonarmy, and I was waiting for the package that you just brought to me." The rebellion dragonarmy! Fighting Delano! Wow! "Do you work for Delano? Where are you from?" the striking elf questioned, glaring at Caley.
"NO! Not at all! I'm from Kalitrin, an orphan. I stole the crystals from Delano's headquarters." Caley answered. Shyla looked utterly puzzled.
"And why would you attempt such a difficult task?"
Caley sighed. "I'm a thief." she said shamefully, her head hanging. "I was bored. The crystals, they-" she paused. "They called to me. They told me to take them." Shyla stared at her in disbelief!
"What did they say? Tell me! What did they say?" Shyla demanded, now perching on the edge of her seat.
"Errrm... save us one of prophecy, we mustn't go to Delano's castle tonight. Save us." Caley recited.
Shyla leapt from her seat excitedly! "You are the one Caley. Truly you are." She cut Caley's ropes on her hands and left her there. She was bewildered! Shyla ran from the room yelling "Call the council! Call the council!" Caley's head spun in confusion. What an earth was going on?
A group of interesting folk sat in a large circle in the great hall. Some were angered, some intrigued. The council meeting was halfway through. Shyla spoke and banged her fist on the table.
"I'm telling you! This human is it! The one we've been waiting for!"
"But how can we be certain of that?" Interrupted an unattractive but gentle looking female dwarf.
"They spoke to me! The Dragon-callers! Singing! The prophecy clearly states:
'...Singing as the saviour is exposed.'"there were some nods and murmurs of agreement.
"But to a common orphan girl?" a bearded elf, with long blonde hair, quizzed. He didn't appear convinced.
"Well, we shall see." Shyla declared. "When she joins us and takes the ceremony, you shall all see."
"Caley, I must tell you something. I will tell you everything." Shyla said, calmly, her eyes seemed different-like they had a new found peace there.
Caley was sat in that room that she had been sitting in for hours. More than anything she was frustrated. Wishing she knew what was going on, Caley was finally looking forward to some clear information.
"Ok"
"Caley, what you stole from Delano are not crystals, but Dragon-callers. What we've been looking for. They are extremely rare and powerful and will give us a enormous advantage." Shyla took a breath. "You are the Palinder. In elvish it means peace bringer, one of prophecy. You are foretold to be the legendary dragonmaster, and with your dragon, you will lead our army to victory, defeat Delano, bring back the age of the dragons and restore harmony and peace to kantralia."
Caley hadn't been expecting that. Her eyes widened in shock, as she collapsed in a feinting heap to the floor.
