Just one look
The dividers of Victoria Arts Modelling Agency were made of glass with the bottom half frosted to provide a clear view of every room on the floor. You could tell exactly who went in and out just by gazing across the room. And from each cubicle in the business section you had a clear view of the lift doors. So it was to no surprise that day that the entire floor burst into squeals the moment he stepped through the door.
He was called 'Veronica'. Known for his stunningly angelic looks, long lashes and large round orbs of pure gold. His short brown wavy hair was cropped at the nape and flared out near his ears. Anyone who saw him exclaimed that he was cuter than any girl and when he stood still it was like an angel descended on earth in human guise.
Veronica's eyes flicked to his managers, Miss Lane, arms folded across his chest in a clear 'I am pissed' posture. "What the hell am I doing here? You said one more year before I'd have to partner up." That had been the deal he was to fly two years solo so that he could establish name for himself then the modelling agency of Victoria arts would 'spice up' the lives of their models for the tabloids and pair them with another equally hot model. Which in turn was supposed to increase their popularity and therefore a greater asset to Victoria Arts, it wasn't in the contract of every model of course only the best.
And he was the fucking fantastic.
Sometimes his manager could not believe that one so cute and angelic in looks could speak so roughly. "She found the perfect partner for you. It might even put you ahead of Sayaka." Sayaka being the 3rd most popular model under Victoria Arts. It was too bad she had the personality of a rattlesnake. It still burned that he had joined later and had only snagged the fifteenth slot. That and she had a smoking hot partner.
Veronica pursed his lips. "My partner… She's a girl right?" There was no way in hell he'd model with another guy in a romantic situation. Acting or not. There were some things you couldn't fake to the camera and chemistry was one of them.
He stared at the Head Agency's Manager name plate. In stainless steel it read Victoria in cursive beautiful typeface, no surname. Unlike the others, this room was separated from the others totally frosted glass walls and doors. The only hint that it was occupied was by the shadows on the wall.
"Ask for yourself." She replied mysteriously and pushed open the door.
The bright sunlight from the window blinded him and he brought up his forearms to block out the light. He squinted at the desk where Victoria sat, sunglasses on, the light made it near impossible to even see her face. "Your blindfold in on the chair." Veronica's brows furrowed but he felt for the chair and somehow stumbled into his seat and put on the black blindfold. "I'll assume you know why you're here?"
Veronica nodded though a part of him wanted to scream. Why it was so god damn bright?
"We've had a few… Issues finding you a partner. As I know you've refused many partner prospects." He recalled those times but this was one thing he couldn't bend on.
Victoria's lips pursed. He knew he'd look good with a male model, but there was no way he would shoot with them as a 'partner'. "They were male. And I may look like this but I'm a man. This is my job but I won't be pressured into things I'm uncomfortable with." He told her respectfully.
"At Victoria arts we understand and respect your choices. But as the choice was very limited… You can take this partner… Or you can leave Victoria Arts." He nodded, understanding that she couldn't bend the rules for him again. Normally you took what the agency gave and after he'd refused so often… He knew he would have this coming.
He heard a door click open and Victoria usher in another person. "Miss Lane. We'll leave them to get aquainted." As his 'partner' walked in he tried to bring the blindfold off only to be stung by the light, tugging it back on hastily he spoke politely. "Are you my partner?"
A smooth clear voice rang out. "They told me it was safe to say my true name. I'm Carmen." He inhaled sharply. Thank God! She was a girl!
"My name is Bryan." He heard her gasp.
Her voice was puzzled. "I thought my partner was going to be a girl?"
He snorted. "Heh. They rarely pair up girls unless their looks are truly compatible."
"But… We're rooming together right?"
He shrugged. "Different rooms same apartment. You can lock your door. Its only supposed to be for two months anyway. Like a camp. Didn't they brief you?"
She laughed and it was beautiful. He really wished he could remove the blindfold. See who he was working with. "Man… I wish. I was pretty much thrown into this room after a bunch of people said something about being compatible."
He paused. She was a newbie? A Newbie! He swore inwardly. How could his agent do this to him? " How long have you been modelling?"
She pondered. "Three years?"
"Here?" he asked.
"Yesterday."
As soon as she said that the lights seemed to dim and a voice echoed asking them to remove their blindfolds. He removed the blindfold hesitantly and laid eyes on a tall incredibly good looking guy with broad shoulders, a narrow waist and mile long legs. His eyes were cool grey like a storm about to take off. Coupled with platinum blond hair, cropped short and spiked casually to frame his face. With such striking features it was no wonder he was in Victoria Arts.
Bryan looked around. "Where's Carmen."
"I get that a lot…" The guy before him smirked. "I'm Carmen."
Holy Guacamole.
"I was worried when you told me your name was Bryan. I really thought for a moment that I was going to have to room with a guy!" Carmen laughed. "Men are such jerks. I'd hate to have to live with one." She patted his shoulder. "Good thing my partner is so cute."
He swore again and decided to keep his mouth shut. If she found out he was a guy he would be kicked out of Victoria Arts for rejecting yet another 'partner'. Pretend he was a girl for two months to keep his job?
There could be worse fates right?
