Prologue:
Hi everyone. So, this is my first story on FictionPress, and I'm really excited. This is more of an idea than a story, so I'm not sure if I'll continue it or not. Let me know if you like it, and if you have any feedback. Thanks, Ser.
"Mitosis involves the division of cells." Kayla sighed. Mrs. Fields had been droning on for more than an hour. Suddenly, a small square of paper landed on her desk. Inside was a single word, written in large, block letters.
MURDERER.
A shiver went down her spine as she traced the word with her finger over and over again.
Murderer, baby-killer, slut, whore...The words echoed through her head, and she squeezed her eyes shut, trying to block them out. But it was no use. The words kept coming, knocking down any barriers she had previously built. In a wave of pain, it all came back to her, everything she had previously tried to forget. The look on Noah's face when she had told him...her classmates' glares and whispers, her parents' look of disgust as she ran, sobbing to her room.
A strangled cry escaped from her throat, and she lowered her head as everyone turned to stare at her.
"Do you need to be excused Kayla?" Mrs. Fields asked. The words were kind, but her voice was mocking and cruel.
Kayla nodded. She took a deep breath before standing up and walking as calmly as possible to the door. As soon as she had closed the door behind her, she started to run.
So, yes, it's pretty short, but there is more. I just wanted to see if anyone was interested in it first, and if it was even decent, before I publish any more. I would love to hear your criticism, so feel free to review or message me.
