It took me a day to climb a mountain

Just to see the world as wide,

As it was for me as a child

Just so my horizon would stop shrinking

Just so people's hands would fit mine

All over again

I scratched my knees,

And bruised my hands

And in the end,

I reached the top and

Looked down at life—

At the trees and the little moving cars

Going to places I know nothing about,

At the human ants, the different houses,

The sensual buildings

But the mountain's top did nothing

To ease my uneasy feelings

Was that it?
