Chapter One: Camelia

The building was before me. The same building that I had frequented the past three years. Only one more year and I would be done with this place. East Columbia High School.

I stepped up to the building and froze at the sight before me. It was just a guy. I could tell that he was new and that he would never want to talk to me, which didn't bother me. I didn't have many friends and that's the way I liked it.

The new student smiled at me and I stopped to take him in. He was at least six inches taller than me with long brown hair framing his perfect face. He had narrow green eyes that made me think that the gods just dropped a couple emeralds in to keep them safe. He was wearing a pair of stone washed blue jeans and a long sleeve black 10 Years shirt.

I stepped up to him and he held his hand out to me, "Izzy Cain."

I looked at his hand for a moment before I offered him my hand and name, "Cam Jeffrey."

He took my hand and shook it as he looked me over. I really didn't think I was his type, but he seemed very interested in me. I didn't know why. I was just wearing my usual long flowing skirt, olive green, and a short sleeve peasant top, black. I wasn't exactly short and I wasn't tall. I wasn't skinny and I wasn't fat. I wasn't curvy or flat. I was just average. I had long black hair and cobalt blue eyes. I wasn't anything special.

After a moment he looked back at my face, "I bet you can tell that I'm new."

I nodded, "Yes."

He let his hand fall to his side, "You aren't very social, are you?"

I shook my head, "No."

He nodded and looked me over again, "That surprises me. You are just too beautiful to not be noticed."

I rolled my eyes, "I'm not easy because I'm vying for attention."

His eyes grew wide as he shook his head, "That didn't cross my mind until just then."

I smiled at him. That was an honest answer. At least he admitted to thinking it, "I'm a senior this year."

Izzy smiled, his emerald eyes sparkling, "As am I," he looked around the empty campus, "Do you usually arrive this early?"

I shrugged, "I'm usually up by 5:30 and like to walk around. I guess I just wandered here a little earlier than I planned," I looked him over, "What are you doing here?"

He looked over to a brand new black Dodge Charger, "I like to find a decent parking spot for my car."

My eyes grew wide, "That's yours?"

He nodded as he looked back at me, "My parents are well off. I'm a spoiled rich kid," he smiled again, his eyes bright and mesmerizing, "I usually get what I want."

I nodded as I took a step towards him, "But there is something that they don't give you."

Izzy's eyes grew wide and I seemed to snap out of a trance that I didn't realize I was in, "What?"

I took a step back and shrugged, "You're spoiled, but you dress all dark and depressed. They don't give you the attention and love you deserve."

He smiled at me again and I looked down at his shirt, "What makes you think that?"

I shrugged, "Classic case," I glanced back up at his face and instantly regretted it. His eyes appeared to be shining and I didn't understand why. I shook my head as I moved towards the door, "I'm going to go to the library and get a book," I put my hand on the door handle, "It was nice to meet you Izzy."

He grabbed my arm, "Cam, where are you going?"

I pulled away from him and sighed, "I'm really not the type of girl that you want to be around. I'm a freak," I pulled the door open, "It was nice to feel like a person, though," I didn't wait for him to respond. I just slipped through the door and away from him.

The man's eyes were glowing. I knew they were. I just didn't understand why…
