I had my first kiss when I was eight. It was only a small peck on the lips, but it still counted as my first kiss. The weirdest part is that the person who stole my first kiss was in fact Xavier. You're probably thinking that the kiss would have been oh so sweet and romantic. Like in those love stories where a little boy has a crush on a little girl and they share innocent kiss and it's so incredibly cute.
Well my experience was an entirely different story.
Xavier and I had been making mud people in my backyard (trust me, its uber fun), when he suddenly walked up to me and said, "Cody, I'm going to kiss you." I asked him why, and he told me that Ken told him that when a boy likes a girl he kisses her. Xavier not really understanding what the 'like' part really meant, thought that he would try it with me as I was a girl and I was his best friend. Me being a naïve, innocent little girl, agreed and let him kiss me.
That was a huge mistake.
His lips tasted like mud and after a second he freaked out and bit me. Yes… he actually BIT ME. That's not the worst part; he then pushed me onto the mud people and ran off screaming. As you can see my first kiss was most certainly not a very pleasant experience.
After that day, never in my life did I think I would kiss Xavier again but boy was I wrong. As his lips pressed against mine I completely froze in shock. His eyes were closed and I could feel him smiling as he moved his warm lips moved against mine. I'm not gonna lie, this was a lot nicer than our first kiss, however that certainly didn't make it any less weird. An Idea suddenly popped into my head after I had recovered from the initial shock of the kiss. I thought I'd get him back for completely ruining my first kiss experience.
He removed his lips and yelled out in pain as I bit down on his lip very hard. I gave him an evil smile and moved away from him. "Damn Cody that hurt," he said with a frown.
I picked up my tray and stood up. "Well consider that payback."
He looked at me in confusion. "Payback for what?"
"Figure it out Sparky," I said simply and walked off. When I was on my own, I put my fingers to my lips remembering the kiss. I'm not gonna lie and say it was disgusting although it definitely wasn't an incredibly romantic and passionate kiss either. All I could say was that it was strange. I quickly disregarded the kiss and walked to my next lesson.
When I arrived in detention Xavier was already there. When he saw me he smiled and pointed to the seat next to him. Once I took a seat, I felt a pair of eyes staring at me.
I looked to my left. "What?"
Xavier smirked. "Nothing…" I gave him a look and then slouched down on the table preparing to take a nap. "I figured out what you meant by payback." This got my attention so I sat up and faced him again.
"So you do remember."
He nodded. "You don't ever forget your first kiss."
"True… even if it was a very shitty first kiss," I said causing Xavier to frown.
"It wasn't that bad…" What world was he in?
I raised my eyebrow. "Dude, you bit me and then pushed me into a load of mud. I'd say that's a pretty crap kiss."
Xavier was about to say something but Mrs Jenkins stopped him. "Stop talking, this is detention not a social meeting." I sighed and went back to my nap.
Once detention was over Xavier gave me a lift home. We forgot about our earlier conversation and moved on to talking about what movie we were going to watch on Saturday. I wanted to see a new horror film but Xavier wanted to see a comedy. I finally got my way and we decided on horror.
We finally pulled up outside my house and I moved to get out but was stopped by Xavier's arm. I turned around and gave him a questioning look.
"I think round two was a lot less crappy," he said with a smirk. By round two I knew he meant our second kiss. I for one didn't think he would like it considering I did bite him. I ended up leaving the car because I didn't really know what to say to that. When I finally did turn around to say something he was already driving off.
As I lay on my bed I realised what a strange day today had been.
The next day I slept in till noon before I realised that I was supposed to be going to Ken's house at one. I decided that I could be a little late and decided that I could rest my eyes for a little longer.
I was dreaming about chickens when I was woken up by someone… I should probably tell you now that I love my sleep and when someone interrupts my beautiful sleep, I get pretty violent. I felt two arms on my shoulders shaking me. My eyes suddenly shot open and I grabbed the unknown person's arm. I then jumped up from my bed and jumped onto the culprit.
As I continually attacked the person with my pillow I realised it was Ken. I then heard someone chuckling from the doorway and looked up to see Xavier.
"I told you not to do it man," Xavier said to Ken. "You know how violent she gets." Ken pushed me off him and I chucked the pillow at Xavier's laughing face.
I stood up and raised my arms above me to stretch. I noticed Xavier's eyes travel down my body. I looked down and realised I was only wearing my underwear and a tank top. I walked up to Xavier and kicked him. "Stop staring perv," I snapped. I quickly fished in my draw for a pair of boxer shorts and quickly put them on.
"Sorry, it's just sometimes I forget you're a girl. That is until I see that body," he said with a smirk.
"Dude, that's Cody you're talking about," Ken said, leaning against my bed.
Xavier laughed and ruffled my hair. "Don't worry Cody, you're still one of us... just with boobs."
I ignored his comment and looked over at Ken. "What are you guys doing here I thought I was coming to yours?"
Xavier and Ken exchanged looks. "And when was that supposed to be?" Xavier asked.
"At one," I stated.
Ken sighed and pointed to the clock on my wall. The clock read five o'clock… my bad.
I tried to defend myself, "You should have called." When Xavier pointed at my phone on my dresser, I already knew what was coming. I picked up my phone and saw that I had ten missed calls from Ken and twenty missed calls from Xavier.
I gave them a guilty smile. "It's not my fault I'm a deep sleeper."
Xavier jumped on my bed and laughed. "I don't understand how a person sleeps for that long?"
"This is Cody we're talking about, she isn't human," Ken joked causing me to glare at him.
"You're right, I'm not human, I'm superman," I stated proudly.
"You're more like a giant sloth," Xavier said randomly.
I gave him a fake smile. "Aw, thanks man," I walked over to Ken and pulled him up from where he was sitting. "Get out of my room, I need to change," I said pushing Ken out of the room. I thought Xavier would follow but he just stood in the same position, showing no signs that he was going to move anytime soon. I crossed my arms in frustration and glared at his stupid face. "Leave," I said simply.
"I'd rather not," he replied with a smug smile.
I huffed angrily and stepped forward. "Fine, I asked you nicely." I brought my hand up to whack him over the head however before my hand could make contact with his stupid head, he grabbed hold of my arm. Damn him and his annoyingly fast reflexes. If there was one thing I really hated about Xavier, it was how easily he could beat me in a fight.
Instead of releasing my arm he pulled my arm towards him so I ended up staggering forward into him. He wrapped his other arm around my waist and stared down at me. I realised my head was against his chest because that's how far my head reached. Yes, I really am a midget. Looking up at Xavier, I could see the mischief in his eyes. Usually I would have resulted in violence in this situation but for some reason I couldn't bring myself to move.
"I think you're probably going to need some help changing." I felt heat rush to my cheeks when he said this. Of course I knew he was only joking but his words still got to me. I felt his hand rubbing against the bare skin on my waist where my top had slightly risen. This suddenly made me snap back into reality and I kicked him in the shin very hard. The moment I felt him release my arms I pushed him out of my room and slammed the door shut. After hearing his laugh fade away down the stairs, I finally sighed.
Well… that was incredibly weird. Instead of standing there thinking about it like an idiot I forgot about it and fished around in my pile of clothes for something to wear. After dressing in a pair of ripped jeans and a band t-shirt I wandered down the stairs to join the guys. They were lounging on the sofa watching TV. I crept up behind Ken who was completely engrossed in a film. Xavier caught my eye from the other sofa and I put a finger to my lips. He smiled slightly and it was as if the incident in my room never happened. I left my hiding position and jumped over the sofa onto Ken.
"BOO!" I yelled which caused Ken to squeal like little girl. He glared at me while Xavier and I burst out laughing.
"You scream like your little sister," I stated.
Ken poked me in the stomach. "That was mean."
I wrapped my arms around him and hugged him and pretended to act really guilty. "I'm really really sorry Ken, I didn't mean it, honest." Ken just rolled his eyes at my obvious lie and ruffled my hair. I felt a pair of eyes watching, I glanced at Xavier who had an unreadable expression on his face.
I brushed it off and made myself comfortable on the sofa. "What time are we going to the cinema?" I asked.
"We can go at-" Ken started but was cut off by Xavier.
"Sorry guys can't go, got a hot date." This wasn't a surprise, Xavier usually went on dates every couple of days; they weren't usually with the same girl though.
"Who's the lucky girl," I asked casually.
"That Pamela girl," he answered, his eyes glued to the TV. My eyes widened at his answer. She certainly got to him fast. I thought she would be too stupid to figure out he wasn't gay.
"I swear she thinks you're gay," Ken said.
"She did until…" Xavier caught my eye and smirked. "She saw the passionate kiss I had with Cody." I groaned as soon as he blurted out those words, I had almost forgotten about that stupid thing.
Ken was obviously shocked. "What kiss, when did this happen?"
Before Xavier could talk and change the story into a hot steamy make out session, I butted in. "Xavier needed me to convince people he wasn't gay so the idiot attacked me with his lips." I avoided looking at Xavier to avoid even more awkwardness.
"I wouldn't say I attacked-" Xavier started.
I jumped up from the sofa. "Anyways, I think me and Ken better get going if we're going to catch that film," I said pulling Ken up. "Have fun on your date with Pamela big boobs." I quickly dragged Ken out of my house. I looked up at him and saw he was smiling and clearly had something to say about the kiss.
I shot my hand up and covered his mouth. "Not a word."
The film ended up being complete and utter rubbish. Ken on the other hand thought it was the scariest thing and was still reeling even after we left the cinema. I just laughed at him as we walked off to get some dinner. As I sat in Mac Donalds waiting for Ken to return with our food I felt my phone vibrate.
I pulled it out and read the message: "Back off my boyfriend bitch."
Okay… what an interesting text. It was from an unknown number so I didn't who this freak was. Maybe Ken had a secret girlfriend I didn't know about. When he returned I questioned him about it.
"Dude, do you have a crazy jealous girlfriend by any chance?"
He gave me an odd look and shook his head. "No, why?" I held my phone up for him and showed him the text.
He laughed." Whoa, she's clearly psychotic."
I nodded my head agreeing with him and got stuck into my burger, forgetting about the lame threat.
Ken dropped me off at my house after we finished and I called out to my mom to see if she was back from work yet. I got no reply but instead found a note saying she had to leave for the airport as she had a conference so she would be back until Monday. I sighed and chucked the note in the bin. Most people would be ecstatic having the house to yourself most of the time but I just wished that I could get to see my mom more often. I knew that she was working hard to provide for the two of us so I never complained.
I made myself a hot chocolate and was just about to take a sip of the chocolate heaven when the house phone rang. I sighed angrily and walked slowly over to the phone. I thought It might be my mom calling to check up on me.
"Hello?"
"Cody I need your help." Oh it was only Xavier.
"Make it fast; I have a delicious cup of hot chocolate calling out to me."
There was a long pause, and I started to get impatient. "Any time now…"
I would have never have guessed what he was going to say next.
"Cody can you be my girlfriend?"
Wait... what?
