Whoa, four reviews in the first day? Don't I feel loved! Anyways, I already wrote up the next chapter... cause I am a nerd like that...
Hope you enjoy this!
Chapter Two
It all started on the first day of the first grade. I once again started off the year all alone, with no one to talk to.
The bell had just rung throughout the school to let us all know we had actually survived our opening day back.
I pushed through the crowded halls, not going to the car line, or the buses. Gabby and Zak wouldn't get home until later, and Mom and Dad wouldn't get off work for awhile either. So it wasn't like anyone was waiting for me.
Instead, I made my way to the bustling playground, which was filled with kids getting to know their new companions.
It was something I never got to enjoy or experience.
I wandered about the yard until I found what I was looking for, an empty bench, right beneath a shady tree.
I walked over to it and sat on top of it. My fingers fumbled around in my backpack until the discovered my sketchbook and a well sharpened pencil.
Peering over my shoulder to make sure no one was looking; I began to sketch the best picture I could as a six year old could.
I felt myself smile; only feeling this happy when I was drawing or singing. To me, it was the best feeling in the world.
"That's a good picture," a voice murmured over my shoulder.
I gasped in surprise, my hands jumping to cover the page.
My head swiveled to the once empty seat beside me and caught sight of a boy, maybe a year older than me, leaning over my shoulder.
He had messy brown hair and bright green eyes, which were fixated on my sketchbook. They had a smile glinting in them.
"C-can I help you?" I stammered, clutching the book to my heart.
The boy shrugged, before smiling at me. "I just thought you were good at drawing." He paused, like he was thinking something over. "Why aren't you with the other girls?"
"Why aren't you with the other boys?" I answered his question with another.
"I tried to play with them, but the older girls won't stop following me around," he explained.
I rolled my eyes. "And why is that?"
He shrugged once more. "They keep pinching my cheeks and call me cute," he demonstrated by pinching them once more.
I giggled and the boy dropped his cheeks, breaking out in a smile as well.
Suddenly, a high-pitched voice yelled across the playground, "I found him! The little boy!"
The boy beside me tensed up and pounced up off the bench.
"Not again, not again!" he mumbled, gripping my hand firmly. The he took off running.
"Huh?" I questioned as he dragged me away from the school yard and from the posse of girls chasing him. "Hey, you! Where-,"
"Adrian," The boy cut me off, turning a corner. I stumbled behind him when he did that, and I picked up the pace to keep up.
"Fine, Adrian, where are we going? Why'd you take me with you?"
He was silent before laughing. "Far away from them, and I didn't want to go alone!"
"What!" I hissed as he rounded a second corner. I could hear the girl's following us, their new sneakers slapping the concrete as they followed.
We were about to cross the street when the light flipped to green, and cars zoomed by.
"What now, genius?" I yelled over the roar of car engines. Adrian eyes scanned around us sneakily, and saw something.
"This way!" he tugged me across the sidewalk to a narrow alley, between two buildings.
We scooted into the alley, around trashcans and crates. Suddenly we broke from the tight space. I staggered out, and rested my palms on my knees, panting from the chase. Several locks from the ponytail had fallen loose, and I could hear the girls pass by.
I lifted my gaze to see where Adrian had led me, and caught sight of something rather extraordinary.
It was more of a grove than anything else. The grass was overgrown, sprinkled with tall sunflowers that swayed slowly. At the center was a tall tree, with long limbs, and the base of the trunk was littered of fallen leaves.
"Whoa," I whispered in awe, straightening up beside Adrian. I glanced at his face, and saw he was just as dumbstruck as me.
He turned toward me with a grin, and I outstretched my hand to him.
"Uh, Shauna," I introduced myself and he took my hand. He re-established his name.
"Adrian,"
Present Day:
Leslie scribbled down on her clipboard as I spoke, and I waited until she was finished. She rested the clipboard down on her lap and pushed the glasses farther up her nose.
I leaned back, satisfied, and felt happy with the recalling of the memory. "Tell me, Leslie, how would I make that up?" I inquired and she sighed.
"I don't know. Did this Adrian ever meet the rest of your family?" I nodded in confirmation. "Then it doesn't make sense. How can only you remember him?"
"Welcome to my life," I said with a wink.
Yay, we get to meet Adrian (supposedly) o.o
Haha, you don't know if he's real or not! But you can find out sooner if you just review!
