Together, me, May and August walked up to Amber. She twirled her hair as she flirted with a boy. I cleared my throat loudly.

"Excuse me." I said so she could hear.

She turned reluctantly. "Can't you see I'm busy?"

"Well can't you tell us WHY YOU STOLE MY COMPOSITION?" I said the last part so loud the whole playground could hear. It turned silent, like I hoped.

Amber's face turned red. "You found out?" She squeaked.

"YEAH SHE FOUND OUT YOU STOLE HER COMPOSITION!" May added emphasis on 'stole'.

"No need to shout." Amber whispered but it was too late. People booed Amber, even her minions. "It was an accident!" She tried to say over the booing.

"Breaking into a glass dome isn't really accident. Neither is talking about it over the phone." August said.

"I—I was framed!" She cried.

"Can't be framed if we got pictures and your recorded phone call as evidence." I shrugged then smirked. Amber ran off saying something about getting me back, but I didn't care.

"High five!" I said and my friends and I give each other high fives.

Sweet, sweet victory.

I know what you are wondering. Did August and I finally go out

The answer is…

I gave August a quick peck on the cheek.

"Not in front of my friends." He wiped it off his cheek.

I rolled my eyes. "Ready to go?" I asked.

"Yea, in a sec." He said.

"Where are you going?" One of his friends asked.

"Movies." He said.

"Oh, gonna pull that stretch-put-your-arm-around-her thing?" His friend joked.

"Knock it off." August socked him in the arm. I laughed.

Holding hands, we got in my mom's car.

The whole time, she was smiling.

"What?" I asked.

"Oh, just thinking about that time when you said, 'I don't like August, he's just a friend!'" She mocked me. I rolled my eyes. "Hm, I wonder if you're going to get married." She said aloud.

August and I exchanged worried glances. "Uh, mom, that's a while away." I said.

"I won't be surprised if I'm at your wedding and I have to say 'Cheyenne remember that time when you said, 'Mom I'm not getting married to August.''"

I roll my eyes but sneak a peek at a red August. Marrying him, wouldn't be so bad.

And I smile.
