I woke up at around 7 A.M. to the alarm set on my phone. I turned off the alarm, groaned, and went back to sleep. As I was dozing back to sleep, there was a loud knock on my door and I heard someone yell, "Ian, wake up, man!"

"Are you kidding me? It's only 7!" I yelled back. I heard a click from the door and looked up to see Griffin standing at the door, looking pissed.

"Wake up!" He walked over to the window and opened the blinds, filling up my room with sunlight. He ran a hand through his blonde hair and sighed. "Hurry up and get dressed. Mike said to meet him at the studio." Mike, whose real name is Michael, is our manager. The guys and I formed a band a few years ago, but we couldn't get any real gigs unless we had a manager. That's when Mike came along. He heard us playing at a small bar one day and recruited us on the spot. He's like a brother to me and the guys. Apparently he manages another band too - I think they're called Spitting Image - but Ive never actually met them before.

"What for?" I managed to say.

"I don't know, man. Just get up and just dressed," he said before stomping out of my room. Griffin may be a huge jokester when he's in a good mood, but he's definitely not a morning person.

I got up and walked to the bathroom to brush my teeth and wash my face. I looked up in the mirror as I dried off my face with a towel. I almost didn't recognize myself with my new haircut. It was getting way too long, so I had to cut it. You know, keeping a good image for the fans and all. I walked out of the bathroom and cussed when I tripped over my guitar amp. After changing my shirt, I headed downstairs.

When I walked into the kitchen, Joey was sitting on the couch reading a newspaper and drinking coffee. "Good morning, old man." I said, as I plopped down on the couch next to him.

"Good morning and don't call me old man," he said looking up from his newspaper. Joey was the oldest in the band. He was only twenty-one, but he acted like he was thirty sometimes. He was the mature one - the one who kept things under control when they get out of hand, which happens a lot 'cuz I mean, we're guys, chaos is our specialty.

"Why does Mike wanna see us today?" I asked.

"Guess we'll find out when we get down to the studio." He put his coffee down next to his guitar and continued to read the paper. Joey played the guitar too - he was second guitar and vocals. I was first guitar and main vocals. Griffin played the drums, and Tony was on bass.

Griffin and Tony walked downstairs, both tired, but hey, you'd be tired too if you were at practice all day the day before and didn't get home until one in the morning.

"Hey, what's for breakfast?" Tony said running a hand through his brown hair. People sometimes think we're related since we both have the same light, brown hair and tan skin, but surprisingly we're not even close to being related. I mean, he had brown eyes and I had green eyes.

"I don't know. Microwave something," Joey said, putting his newspaper down.

"Ugh, I'm tired of microwaveable food for breakfast. Either one of us needs to get a girlfriend, or we learn how to cook."

"You remember what happened last time when we tried to cook?" Griffin said and we all shuttered at the memory.

"Fine, then one of us needs to get a girlfriend," Tony suggested.

"How could we get girlfriends when we're always rehearsing and doing band stuff? We're never gonna be home. Plus girls only throw themselves at us for the fame and the whole rockstar thing."

"Ugh, I don't know! I just don't want anymore microwaveable dinners for breakfast!"

"Stop complaining and get something to eat," I said. "We gotta meet up with Mike at the studio in an hour."

When we got to the studio, Mike was sitting in front of the recording booth drinking a cup of coffee and sending someone a text message on his phone. He saw us coming in and said, "Hey guys!"

"Hey Mike," I said, clasping hands with him and giving him a guy handshake.

Once we were all seated in a circle around the table with coffees in front of us, he cleared his throat and said, "So, I have some news for you guys. I don't know if you would consider it good news or bad news, but I'm pretty sure it's leaning towards the good news category."

He all sat up in our chairs, giving him our full attention as he continued. " My boss, Mr. Sallister, said that you guys are starting to lose fans because you don't write your own songs."

"How do the fans know we don't write our own songs?" I asked.

"Some rumor got started on the internet and it started to spread really fast. You know how teenage girls gossip," he answered. "So in order to put a stop to these rumors, you guys have to simply start writing your own songs."

"We've tried! You know how hard it is to write a song about something you don't know enough about?" Tony said.

"Like what?"

"I don't know, like love and girly feelings," he said, blushing a bit.

"None of you guys have ever been in love?" He raised an eyebrow at us.

"Um, not really," I answered for all of us.

"Well, Sallister was afraid this would happen, so he asked me for a favor from Spitting Image. You know, the other band I manage? They write their own songs, so they could help. I asked them this morning actually, and they all said that they're willing to help out. They don't play instruments like you guys do, but if you have the music down, they can write the lyrics for it."

"Can they do that?" Griffin asked.

"Yeah, they do it all the time. The producer gives them the track and they come up with the lyrics and choreography," Mike said proudly. "You guys obviously aren't gonna be dancing, but the they can help out with the whole writing thing."

"How can you teach someone how to write songs?" I asked.

"How should I know? I'm just a manager." He shrugged. "You guys will have to figure something out."

"This isn't gonna be easy, is it?" Griffin asked.

"Nothing's ever easy, Griff."

"Ugh, why do we have to do this?"

"It's for the fans," Mike said.

"Alright, but this should be fun. I mean, how hard can it be?" I said.
