Before you read I want to say some thanks to some awesome person that has helped me with this story: TheFirstWinterSnow, you rock!
And here is my newest creation, MUHAHAHA!
"Little Red Riding Hood … As you hear that, I bet you're thinking of an innocent little girl with a blood red cape and a string tied at the neck to keep the cape fromslipping off her bony shoulders. With her, a woven basket with scrumptious cookies wrapped in a red checkered cloth placed neatly in the basket for Red Riding Hood to take to her ill grandmother.
Then, you might imagine her walking through a dense forest, stumbling upon a wolf. Not just any ordinary wolf, but the Big Bad Wolf.
To her naïve self she talks to the wolf, telling him that she is going to her grandmother's house.
The wolf with a keen mind tells her to pick her grandmother some flowers. Little Red Riding Hood agrees and gleefully goes around, picking flowers for her sick grandmother.
All the while, the wolf sneaks off to Little Red Riding Hood's grandmother's house. He pretends to be the granddaughter (Little Red Riding Hood).
The grandmother is fooled by the wolf's lies and lets him in. The Big Bad Wolf swallows the grandmother whole before the grandmother can realize that she was tricked.
Then, along comes the giddy Red Riding Hood. She strolls straight into her grandmother's house and is met by... her ill grandmother.
As Little Red Riding Hood observes her grandmother, she notices her grandmother's hands are much larger, but before she could conclude that as obvious truth ...The Big Bad Wolf rips off the grandmother's clothing and reveals that he is a ruse. Little Red Riding Hood, afraid, goes to run out of the house.
But the Big Bad Wolf eats her.
And here is where the lies meet the truth … in fairy tales; there is always a hero to come in and save the victim, somehow. But that is where they lie to you, the victim dies. There is never a hero, because the bad guys always win."
"Sydney, stop telling your sister lies and go take Charmer for a walk before it gets dark!" My mom yelled from the kitchen. I let out a heavy sigh, closed the book that was in my lap, and stood up.
"Sydney, does Red really die?" Jenna, my sister, asked with glistening hope in her baby blue eyes. I smiled and bent down to her eye level.
"Do you want the truth or a lie?" I asked. She was silent, but then she got up from the couch with a sad expression. "What's with the sad face, Jenna?" I asked as she turned and walked up the stairs to her bedroom. She didn't reply. Instead, she closed her door with a slam. "Who spit into her oat meal?" I mumbled as I grabbed Charmer's leash from the coffee table.
"You know she loves those fairy tale stories, but your 'bad guy always wins' saying really ruins it for her." My mom stated as she walked into the living room. "And you know Sydney..." I stared at her as she paused for a second and put her long brown hair in a clip, fastened her apron and looked at me. "I understand that the stories you tell Jenna are just lies and make believe, but she listens to your every word because you're her big sis, and she loves you and looks up to you. Just know that you ruining her creativity and imagination, like that, is the worst thing you can do for her at her age. So, please, next time stick to the book and don't fabricate anything."
"But mom, it's so true! Bad guys always win, granny told me that growing up, and I know it's true after all-"
"Sydney, I don't want to hear it, now, please just go take Charmer for a walk. It's getting late, and dinner will be ready in thirty minutes." I knew she was not going to talk about it anymore too me by the way she walked away without saying a word. I sighed and whistled for Charmer, our black lab. He came running in the room with excitement in his eyes. I smiled in relief that at least one thing in this house wasn't mad at me.
"So, when is your over baring mom leaving for her trip?" Elizabeth, or as I call her Eliza, asked me in a low voice once we were half way down the street. I turned to her and grinned.
"She will be leaving once dinner is over." Eliza gave me an evil smirk.
"Is everything going according to plan?" She asked in a whisper, I chuckled.
"Eliza, you know you don't have to whisper, we are outside walking our dogs and we are a block away from my house. No one that will ruin our plans can hear us." I stated. She gave me a glare that clearly meant that I had stated the obvious, and she didn't like that. "Okay, okay, yes, everything is going according to plan. I am going to be home at exactly 6:30. We will eat dinner at 7:00, be done by 7:30. Then, my mom's cab will be at the house at 8:00 to take her to the airport. Once she is gone, Jenna and I will make our way down to your house. And, as we have planned, your sister will watch Jenna. Then, we will come back to my house, go to the shed, and bring all the party supplies in my house. By 9:30, my house will be packed with people. And by 1:30, we will have had the best night of our teenage lives." I said. Eliza looked at me.
"Damn, you really do have it all planned out, don't you?" she asked, I gave her wink.
"I always do." With that, we turned the block and made our way back home.
I walked inside the house and was immediately embraced by my mom.
"Mom! Let me go! I can't breathe!" I yelled. She backed away from me.
"Sydney, no need to yell, I've just been worried about you." She stated. I gave her a questioning look. "I've just been watching the news, and they were talking about a sighting of four very large wolves a block or two away from here, they attacked some woman, but her dog was able to distract the wolves for a quick second. In that second, she was able get inside her house ... But she watched the wolves ... kill ... her ... dog." My mom started crying. I went over and patted her on her back.
"Mom, it's okay."
"No, it's not, what if the wolves saw you and Eliza, and they attacked you." She said. I then realized why she was so upset.
"Mom-"
"You know what, I am staying home, forget my meeting in Maine. I can't leave you and Jenna here alone for two days. I can just skip the meeting, all it's going to be is a group of mayors, I being included, and we will talk about boring issues...Plus, I don't think you are even ready to be alone with Jenna."
"Oh my gosh, you're a liar! There are no wolves, this is you not trusting me!-"
"Sydney! No, that's not it at all-"she started to say, but I cut her off.
"Save your lies mom! I can't believe you! I am 17, and you don't trust me with Jenna!-"
"Sydney! I trust you but-"
"But what? If you trust me, then you would let me watch Jenna! But no, you have to lie about some wolves and say you should stay home."
"That's not it at all!"
"Liar!"
"Fine! Sydney, you can watch her, and I will go to my meeting in Maine!" My mom shouted, finally giving up.
"Fine!" I then walked away, smiling at the fact that I just tricked my mom into changing her mind about not leaving.
One thing I hate about a party is... almost everything. The way you seem to only invite 30 and yet over 100 show up. Then, there is the part where everyone takes over your house, it just plain makes me mad ... and here, I thought it would be fun ...
"Great party, Sydney!" Shouted my drunken, somewhat friend, Becca. I turned to her and put on a fake smile.
"Thank you." I stated when my favorite song came on, and I made a lame excuse to go to the dance floor/my totally wrecked living room. When I got to where everyone was dancing and doing gosh knows what on my couch, I turned and made my way up the endless stairs. In the middle of the stair case, I saw Jacob, or in other words my ex, who was currently talking on the phone.
"Dude, you have to come to Sydney's party, it's bumpin'." I snatched the phone from his face and put it to my ear.
"Whoever this is, the party is over. Don't bother coming, the police are on their way." With that, I hung up and tossed the phone back to Jacob.
"Hey, what was that for?" He asked.
"Party over." I simply stated.
"That sucks." I looked at the very top of the steps to see who said that. I laid eyes on the cutest guy I had ever seen, he had brown spike like hair and dark eyes. As I stared into his eyes, I felt something ... bad, almost like fear that spread through my whole body. I took a step down from the stair case, and almost tripped over Jacob, but I was able to grip the railing before I fell down the stairs.
"And who the hell are you?" Jacob asked while trying not to sound drunk. I rolled my eyes at him but the whole time I keep my eye on the guy at the top of the stairs, something was off about him.
"I am Aaron, and you must the drunken guy that always wants to start shit." The guy at the top of the stairs said. I smirked at his comment for it described Jacob to the T.
"Ha-ha you're funny, but I see your plan. Make me look like a jackass and make her think you're all cool. But let me tell you a few things about Sydney, she is a stubborn ass and she will not get in your pants. Trust me. I have dated her and tried. It's just not in her nature. She would rather argue about animals and furry rodents." Jacob said. I bent down and pulled Jacob up by his collar.
"That is it! You need to go home."
"Why? I haven't even told him about how you are a drama queen and you like-"
"And I would like for you to get out of my house." I said, Jacob made no attempt to walk away so I turned to ... Aaron. "I am sorry, but I would love to hear what you have to say but we both know Jacob is right. You're only trying to get in my pants, new boy. So, how about you leave," I turned to Jacob and gripped his collar tighter and dragged him down the stairs. I opened the door and pushed him out, shutting the door quickly before he tried to get back in. When I closed the door, I saw that I was way in over my head with this party. There was no way I could get everyone out.
I started to wonder if Eliza would help me get rid of everyone, but then, I saw her get on top of my coffee table and start to dance to 'Hello' by Martin Solveig & Draginette. I rolled my eyes, no way in hell will I get her to help me. For one, she is drunk; and two, she is having too much fun.
"Need help?" I looked to my side and saw Aaron. Something told me that he was not asking for help to get everyone out.
"No, now get out of my house, I don't know you; so, I know I didn't invite you." I stated. He just stared at me like I was a piece of meat. I sighed and began to walk away when I realized he was not going to move.
"Where do you think you are going?" He asked in a dark voice. I looked at him and felt a wave of fear go though my body, the same kind of feeling I felt when I first saw him at the top of the stairs moments ago. Somehow, I was able to shake off the feeling and give him a glare hoping it would scare him away ... come to find out it didn't work so well.
"Get your hands off me." I said. He made no move to let go of me. I tried yanking my arm from his grip, but neither he nor my arm budged. Instead, he gripped me harder. I shrieked in pain. "Let go of me! That hurts!"
"I am barely gripping your arm." He stated.
"Let her go, Aaron." I heard a voice say from behind me. Aaron released my arm immediately. I rubbed where he had grabbed me, because it hurt. I knew that by tomorrow I would have a bruise there.
Aaron leaned down till his mouth was at my ear. "I have to go now, but I think I will be seeing a lot of you, buttercup ... after all, we are now neighbors … not to mention my window is right across from yours ... sleep tight … be careful of what goes bump in the night." He turned and walked away; leaving me there wondering what the hell just happened, and what did he mean 'be careful of what goes bump in the night'.
I had then realized someone had told him to let go of me, I swung around to see if that person was still there, no one was there.
"Ahh!" I heard someone scream in a high pitched scream. It came from upstairs, and at first, I was thinking it was someone in one of the rooms upstairs doing who knows what, but then I saw Becca coming running down the stairs with a expression of fear."S-s-s-Sydney-"
"Calm down, Becca, what's wrong?" I asked as she reached me.
"I-i-its Qu-Quinn," … also known as the school slut/head cheerleader. "S-sh-sh-she is in your bathroom, and...and … she...she's dead! T-there is so much b-b-b-blood...There is blood everywhere! And it was an animal! I could tell!" Becca cried out. I looked at her with shock, she must be joking, but then I saw her hands, they were red...blood red. I took small steps away from her and then darted up the stairs towards my bathroom.
